Today marks a new set of series in the MLB, and that means we fantasy owners need to take a look at some of the up-and-coming waiver-wire-level players out there to see if anyone’s worth a pickup for these early-week matchups. Here’s a closer glance at the numbers.

Brandon Drury, 3B/OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: Drury is the hot add right now, thanks to a nice showing in his past two games. In those sessions, he tallied a total of three hits with three runs, two homers and three RBI.
Drury now has a .294 average with four homers and 10 RBI on the season. As long as he’s hitting, he’ll get playing time. That will keep going this week in Miami against the Marlins.

Brad Brach, RP, Baltimore Orioles: Deeper-league owners in search of RP help will want to keep an eye on the Orioles’ Zach Britton. As long as he’s out, there’s a good chance Brach will get a few save opportunities.
Brach is carrying a 1.26 ERA with a 0.70 WHIP on the season and has managed to pull out three wins as a bullpen guy. He could see some prime opportunities if Britton stays out in the Yankees series.

Nick Castellanos, 3B, Detroit Tigers: Castellanos is still available in over half the fantasy leagues out there, and his stock keeps rising. He’s sitting on a five-game hit streak right now, posting three runs, two homers and eight RBI in that span.
Castellanos is hitting .363 with 14 RBI on the season. That makes him a nice deep-league pickup at the hot corner as the Tigers head into Cleveland to see the Indians this week.

Nathan Karns, SP, Seattle Mariners: Karns is one of the more popular starting pitcher pickups right now. He’s coming off a seven-inning effort against the Astros in his last appearance, securing the win with six strikeouts and no runs on two hits.
That gives Karns a 3.63 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with a 2-1 record on the season. He’s a nice pickup in a solid matchup in Oakland against the A’s late tonight.

Jeremy Hellickson, SP, Philadelphia Phillies: Also making a start tonight is Hellickson, who is coming off seven shutout innings against the Nationals with eight strikeouts in his second win of the season.
Hellickson will face off against the Cardinals tonight in St. Louis, and will put his 3.81 ERA and 1.19 WHIP on the line.
