Fantasy Baseball Update 5/12/16: Key Matchups This Weekend
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
May 12, 2016
We’re creeping closer to the weekend in fantasy baseball, so that means it’s time to start looking ahead to the big upcoming matchups in the MLB. Let’s take a look at the waiver wire and see who’s trending out there ahead of this weekend’s series.
Trevor Bauer, SP/RP, Cleveland Indians: Let’s start things out on the mound today and visit with Bauer. He’s coming off seven innings of shutout ball against Houston, striking out seven in a victory this week.
Bauer carries a 3.86 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP on the season, and is available in over 80 percent of leagues out there. He’ll get another start on Sunday in the series finale against the Twins, so grab him now.

Rubby De La Rosa, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks: De La Rosa is another popular pitching add at the moment, as he’s 3-1 in his last four outings. He put up 7.1 innings of work on Tuesday, allowing just one run at difficult Coors field.
De La Rosa sports a 3.93 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP thus far, and will get a home start against the incoming Giants for his next opportunity.
Travis Shaw, 1B/3B, Boston Red Sox: Shaw has been a hot trend this week since Tuesday’s game, when he bashed a homer with five RBI and two runs on three hits against Oakland. (He had a hit, two runs and a steal yesterday.)
That outing made Shaw 6-of-9 in the first two games of that series. He’s still available in about 1/3 of the leagues out there and will get a home matchup against the Astros this weekend.
Mike Napoli, 1B/OF, Cleveland Indians: We’ll head back to Cleveland for a moment and check out Napoli. He had a great day Tuesday, with a 2-for-4 line against the Astros that yielded a run and an RBI. He had three more hits and a solo homer yesterday.
Napoli will get plenty of cleanup opportunities going forward as long as he’s popping out those RBI. His BA isn’t all that great, but he’s still an intriguing find for the Twins series this weekend.
Yasmany Tomas, 3B/OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: Tomas is still available in almost half of the fantasy leagues out there. He came back from a neck injury on Tuesday to slap three hits with a run in Colorado, then had three hits, two runs and an RBI yesterday.
Tomas is hitting at a great clip, and scoring runs with regularity. He’s a nice find heading into a four-game set with the Giants starting today.
