Fantasy Baseball Update 7/28/16: Key Matchups This Weekend
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks For Seasonal And Daily Leagues
July 28, 2016
We’ve reached another Thursday in the fantasy baseball season, and now it’s time once again to start looking ahead to the big weekend match-ups out there. Let’s check out the waiver wire and see which guys are trending ahead of those games and see if anyone’s worth adding right now.
Joey Gallo, 3B/OF, Texas Rangers: Gallo exploded onto the waiver wire radar on Tuesday, blasting his first home run of the season in a 1-for-4 performance against the A’s.

What will we get with Gallo? Lots of swinging, missing, and occasional bursts of power. If you need a low-end source of homers and RBI at that corner slot, he’s a guy to look at for the Royals series this weekend.
Tyler Skaggs, SP, Los Angeles Angels: It had been a while since Skaggs started (almost two years), but he was out in force on Tuesday. In that win against the Royals, he put up seven innings with no hits for his first victory of the season.
Skaggs will toe the mound once again on Sunday against the Red Sox in their finale. This will give us a better idea of what he’s doing this year, but if you need someone available in over 2/3 of leagues for an SP, you could do worse.
Tyler Anderson, SP, Colorado Rockies: In other SP add news, we’ve got Anderson starting today against the Mets today in New York. He’s coming off his third straight win, six innings against the Braves with six strikeouts.
Anderson has been doing pretty well this season in his rookie role, logging a 3.56 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP. He’s out there in over 85 percent of the leagues as a low-end flyer for fantasy purposes.
Alex Dickerson, OF, San Diego Padres: Let’s move on to the outfield and see what’s up with Dickerson. In the Toronto series, he contributed six hits with three homers, six RBI and a steal.
That gives Dickerson a four-game hit streak with a .288 BA and five homers on the season. he’s gone yard in four straight games to boot. A matchup with the Reds looms tomorrow for the Padres and this OF available in roughly 95 percent of leagues.
Trea Turner, 2B, Washington Nationals: We’ll finish up in the middle infield today and talk about Turner, who blasted three hits with three RBI in the Cleveland finale yesterday.
Over his last three games, Turner has a nice six hits with three runs, three RBI and two steals. On the year, he’s hitting .279 with five steals already. He’ll head to San Francisco for the weekend series.
