Fantasy Football Update 10/22/16: Week 7 Key Matchups
Fantasy Football Sleepers and Waiver Wire Picks for Week 7
October 22, 2016
Week 7 in the NFL will be getting back to business tomorrow, so that means it’s time to take a look at some of the interesting matchup plays out there on the fantasy football waiver wire. We’ve got a new list of names to add to your potential roster, so let’s visit with the trending players and see who’s who.
Tennessee Titans Defense: We’ve been touting the Titans D for several days now, ahead of their tilt against the Colts tomorrow.
USA TODAY Sports
Tennessee has 12 sacks and two interceptions in the past two weeks, and gets a great matchup against Indianapolis, who has given up the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses this year. After that, it’s a mother favorable matchup against Jacksonville.
Dennis Pitta, TE, Baltimore Ravens: Pitta hasn’t exactly been lighting it up this year. He’s got 18 targets and 13 catches in the last two weeks, but that translated to just 95 yards and zero touchdowns.
Fear not, Pitta owners. He’s going up against the flaccid New York Jets pass defense this week. The Jets have given up the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this year, and we could finally see Pitta get into the end zone.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers: While we’re on the subject of tight ends, let’s visit with Gates. he’s got just 8.6 fantasy points in the last two weeks combined, with six receptions on 11 targets.
That said, Gates is still a nice streaming option Sunday, as the Falcons have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends so far this year.
Mike Davis, RB, San Francisco 49ers: With Carlos Hyde banged up this week, Davis has gotten a lot of love. He’ll head up a committee approach with three or four total guys, and is the most promising of that group.
Davis does have a promising matchup this week against the Buccaneers, who have given up the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs this year. He’s only good for this week, though.
Alex Smith, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: Smith is a nice pickup for those fantasy owners streaming quarterbacks, as he’s got the potential to put up big numbers (29.02 points in Week 1).
Smith will go up against the Saints this weekend, and New Orleans has given up the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. We wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit 20 points this week.
