Fantasy Football Update 12/29/16: Week 17 Waiver Wire Picks
Fantasy Football Sleepers, Matchup Plays and Waiver Wire Adds for Week 17
December 29, 2016
Week 17 in the NFL is just around the corner, and it’s the final round of games for fantasy football. With that said, let’s check out some of the notable waiver wire adds out there right now.
Alfred Blue, RB, Houston Texans: Blue is coming off a nice total last week against the Bengals, posting 73 rush yards and a touchdown on the ground alongside 15 fantasy points for the day.

Blue is the top waiver wire add this morning, and he’ll probably get plenty of work this weekend. The only drawback is he enters a tough matchup against the Titans rush defense.
Fitzgerald Toussaint, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: With the Steelers all locked up in their playoff position, it’s time to start looking at some backups. Toussaint is one of those guys, as he’ll likely get some touches against the Browns as Pittsburgh spells Le’Veon Bell.
Toussaint doesn’t have much to go on this year—just 11 rush attempts and 44 yards. If Bell exits early Sunday, though, those numbers could jump significantly.
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rodgers is a replacement guy who’s worth looking at, after the healthy scratch of Doug Martin last week.
Rodgers put up 15 rushes for 63 yards and a TD in Week 16, and will get Carolina this weekend. He bashed the Panthers for 101 yards in Week 5.
JJ Nelson, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Nelson has scored in four straight weeks, and he’s the top WR waiver wire add this morning because of it.
After a two-week span when he got just four total targets, Nelson now has 18 targets over his last two appearances. He put up a nice 19.2-point fantasy total in Week 16.
Alex Smith, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: Let’s finish up at QB, which is a position we don’t look at too often in this space. Smith was great last week, posting 23.36 fantasy points in a win over Denver.
Smith goes up against the Chargers in the finale, and in Week 1 during their first meeting, he bagged 29.02 fantasy points. He’s a nice start if you need a QB this week.
