Fantasy Football Update 12/30/16: Week 17 Sleeper Picks
Fantasy Football Sleepers, Matchup Plays and Waiver Wire Adds for Week 17
December 30, 2016
We’ve got just two days left until Week 17 in the NFL, which is the last round of regular season games for seasonal and weekly fantasy football owners. With that in mind, let’s check out some of the notable waiver wire pickups and trends out there.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Williams played just one snap in Week 16, but will reportedly get a big workload on Sunday against the Browns.

Williams missed action from Week 9 to Week 15, so he’s pretty rusty and needs the work. Look for Le’Veon Bell to exit this one early and Williams to help mop up.
Darren McFadden, RB, Dallas Cowboys: With Ezekiel Elliott resting on a big lead last week, McFadden jumped right into the fray with 14 carries for 49 yards against the Lions.
This is another situation when the starter is expected to exit early and the backup should get plenty of carries. Elliott won’t last long before getting pulled here, so McFadden should have a pretty decent line—or at least the opportunity for one.
Chris Ivory, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Ivory is still available in 60 percent of fantasy leagues out there, mostly because he totaled just 4.4 fantasy points in a three week span due to injury this month.
Ivory came back with a nice 15.4-point game against the Titans, though, and will be getting lots of carries against Indianapolis on Sunday with TJ Yeldon (ankle) on the shelf.
Vernon Davis, TE, Washington Redskins: Davis’ stats this year don’t look like much, which is why he’s still out there in about 73 percent of the fantasy leagues. He posted just one catch for 13 yards against the Bears last week.
Davis doesn’t have the greatest track record this year, but if you need a low-end tight end he’s not a bad play against the Giants’ weak secondary.
Adam Thielen, WR, Minnesota Vikings: One of the hot adds this week has been the Vikings’ Thielen, who went off last week for 202 yards and two touchdowns for 32.6 fantasy points against the Packers.
It’s not totally unheard of for Thielen to get double-digit fantasy points—he’s done it four times this year—and he’s a top receiving threat against the Bears this week, so scoop him up.
