Fantasy Hockey Update 1/10/17: Top Waiver Wire Picks and Sleepers
Fantasy Hockey Sleepers, Waiver Wire Adds and Trends
January 10, 2017
We’re knee-deep in another NHL week, so it’s a sensible time to check out the fantasy hockey waiver wire to see what’s going on out there. Let’s take a closer look at some of the trending players making waves right now across the league.
Bo Horvat, C, Vancouver Canucks: Horvat has a seven-game points streak going right now, and he’s still available in over 75 percent of leagues. During that run, he’s put up five assists and three goals.

Horvat holds 13 goals and 16 assists on the season, nice totals for someone at his level at this point of the year. He’s in Nashville tonight.
Nathan Beaulieu, D, Montreal Canadiens: We’ve talked about Beaulieu once or twice before, and he’s still a big waiver wire add right now. In the past six games, he’s come up with five assists and a goal.
Beaulieu has two goals, 15 assists and a plus-15 mark this season. He doesn’t play until tomorrow in Winnipeg, though.
Chad Johnson, G, Calgary Flames: If you’re in search of a goalie, you could do worse than Johnson, who is still available in about half the fantasy leagues out there. He’s got a 14-9-1 record on the year with a 2.27 GAA and a .922 save percentage.
The big drawback on Johnson is that he doesn’t get a whole lot of offensive support, and he’ll melt down from time to time. Still, he’s a serviceable fantasy pickup.
Justin Williams, RW, Washington Capitals: Williams is red-hot right now and still out there in over half the fantasy leagues. In his last six games, he’s got five assists with three goals to his credit.
On the season, Williams has 11 goals, 10 assists, a plus-4 mark and 87 shots on goal. He’s turned around since his slow start to begin the season and probably shouldn’t be on your waiver wire.
Connor Hellebuyck, G, Winnipeg Jets: Let’s go goalie again as we finish up today’s waiver wire installment. Hellebuyck is coming off a nice 2-0 shutout of Calgary on 28 saves, which gives him three wins in his last four games.
Hellebuyck is sitting on a 16-13-1 record this year with a 2.65 GAA and a .913 save percentage. The Jets get Montreal tomorrow.
