The big MLB early-week series are off and running, and that means it’s a great time to check out the notable waiver wire adds out there in fantasy baseball. Let’s take a closer look at some of the trending names and see who’s making waves.

Blake Trennen, RP, Oakland Athletics: Trennen didn’t waste any more time bagging a save as a member of the A’s, working a perfect ninth against the Giants yesterday.

Oakland gave Trennen a shot despite the fact that he blew a save against the Jays last week. On the year, he’s got a 4.79 ERA and remains the A’s ninth-inning guy. At least for the time being.

Shane Greene, SP/RP, Detroit Tigers: Let’s look at another potential RP add before we leave the mound. After the trade of Justin Wilson, we got confirmation from Brad Asmus that Greene will be the Tigers’ new closer.

It’s been a pretty solid year for Greene. He’s got a 2.74 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and 50 Ks over 46.0 innings. He’ll likely have a few bumps in the road, but if you need an RP he’s probably your guy right now.

Dominic Smith, 1B, New York Mets: Let’s check out a lower-end add who should be getting some attention right now in deep leagues. Mets GM Sandy Alderson indicated that Smith would likely be getting called up sometime this month.

With no Lucas Duda standing in his way, Smith’s path to the Majors is clear. He’s been great in Triple-A, with a .340 BA, 16 homers and 72 RBI in 106 games. It’s time to start kicking the tires here in fantasy.

Amed Rosario, SS, New York Mets: Elsewhere on the Mets squad, we’ve got some more action. Rosario will be making his Major League debut today against Colorado.

Even with Cabrera in the mix, Rosario still gets the call and New York will make room for him. In Triple-A this year, he’s got a .328 BA with seven homers and 19 swipes. he’s a nice speed add if you need a middle infielder.

Bradley Zimmer, OF, Cleveland Indians: Zimmer has been smoking lately, and he’s getting a lot of fantasy attention. In his seven-game hit streak, he’s got seven runs, three homers, three steals and 10 RBI.

Zimmer has a .284 BA with eight homers and 37 RBI alongside 13 steals. He went 2-for-4 yesterday from the leadoff slot yesterday against the Red Sox.
