Fantasy Football 2017: Week 4 Waiver Wire
The Trending Waiver Wire Pickups and Sleepers in Fantasy Football Week 4
September 26, 2017
With Week 3 in the NFL rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead to Week 4 in fantasy football by checking out the waiver wire. Let’s examine a few of the trending names heading into this weekend’s games to help give you an edge in your league.
Jacksonville Jaguars Defense: Those fantasy owners who like to stream defenses will want to kick the proverbial tires on the Jaguars this week. If you toss out the lousy Tennessee game, Jacksonville has put up 40.0 fantasy points in two games.

Even better, the Jaguars get the lowly Jets this weekend, and even though New York recorded an improbable victory in Week 3, they’re still an awful team with a bad offense.
Wendell Smallwood, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: In the wake of the Darren Sproles injury, Smallwood will have a larger role in the Philly offense heading into this week’s matchup against the Chargers.
Smallwood got 12 rushing attempts against the Giants and turned them into 71 yards, playing 43 of 76 total snaps. He’s a more consistent fantasy option as opposed to LeGarrette Blount.
Charles Clay, TE, Buffalo Bills: The TE slot is as confusing as ever in fantasy, but those in need may be able to rely on Clay. He has at least 9.9 fantasy points in two of three games, and has caught 13 balls so far.
Clay also has a pair of touchdowns, and his strength is in the red zone. Though he may not rack up a ton of yards, if he gets a score he’ll be worth your while on the low end of the fantasy spectrum.
Andre Ellington, RB, Arizona Cardinals: Remember Ellington? He’s back again as a relevant fantasy contributor following five rushes for 22 yards and five catches on eight targets for 59 yards in the loss to Dallas.
Ellington was out there for way more plays than Chris Johnson (49 to 31), and with his solid performance he’s in line for more work against the 49ers this weekend. PPR owners should definitely linger here.
Paul Richardson, WR, Seattle Seahawks: There aren’t a lot of slam-dunk wide receivers on the fantasy football waiver wire right now, but Richardson has shown some flash over the first few games.
In his last two outings, Richardson has four catches on 12 targets for 49 yards, two touchdowns and 16.9 fantasy points. The great news here is that he’s facing an awful Colts pass D this weekend, and will likely get more attention with Doug Baldwin banged up.
