Fantasy Baseball Lineups For the Week of 4/9/18: Start'em and Sit'em

  1. Cardinals  3 games vs the Brewers and no Chase Anderson and 4 games at GABP vs the Reds
  2.  Angels  3 games at friendly Arlington Texas and 4 games at the Royals
  3.  Astros  3 games at the Twins and no Jose Berrios and 3 games vs the Rangers starting staff at home
  4.  Mariners 3 games at the Royals and then 3 games at home vs the A’s with Nelson Cruz projected back for the A’s series
  5. Nationals 3 games vs the Braves and then 4 games vs the Rockies. All 7 games at home

    1. Dodgers play only 5 games at home this week.  2 games vs the A’s and 3 games vs the tough Diamondbacks SP staff who has beaten them like 9 games in a row
    2. A’s play 5 games on the road.  2 games at the Dodgers and 3 games at Seattle
    3. Diamondbacks play 6 games on the road. 3 games at the Giants and Johnny Cueto and 3 games at the Dodgers tough SP staff
    4. Braves play 6 games on the road at the Nationals and Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg and 3 games at the Cubs and Jose Quintana
    5. Blue Jays play 6 games on the road. 3 games at Camden Yards and Dylan Bundy and 3 games at the Indians facing the very tough Indians staff

Please keep in mind this is to help you set your WEEKLY fantasy lineups.  Be very careful about benching STUDS that play only 5 games.  I have seen multiple occasions where players with 5 games out produce players with 7 games in points so don’t get CUTE with your lineups, especially in Week 3.  We will post players to pick up daily on sportschatplace.com for your DAILY fantasy leagues and Fan Duel or Draft Kings tournaments.

TOP UNDER THE RADAR OR MIDDLE TIER SP with the best 2-start matchups:

  1. Carson Fulmer (SP White Sox) Tuesday April 10 vs the Rays (SP Blake Snell) and Sunday April 15 at the Twins (SP Kyle Gibson)
  2. Tyler Skaggs (SP Angels) Tuesday April 10 at the Rangers (SP Martin Perez) and Sunday April 15at the Royals (SP Eric Skoglund).  The 1st matchup is a little dicy but the Angels are hot and Skaggs should get some K’s providing fantasy value especially if Skaggs earns the win.
  3. Felix Hernandez (SP Mariners) Tuesday April 10 at the Royals (SP Eric Skoglund) and Sunday April 15 vs the A’s (SP Kendall Graveman).  Hernandez faces a punchless Royals offense and an A’s squad he’s had a ton of success against over his career.
  4. Garrett Richards (SP Angels)  Monday April 9 at the Rangers (SP DougFister) and Saturday April 14 at the Royals (SP Jakob Junis) Richards had some rough games at Arlington before and doesn’t generally pitch as well on the road as he does at home.  So, I will advise to proceed with caution.  Richards is on this list because the Royals offense is cold, the Angels are hot, and the Rangers SP staff always allows good SP a good chance at a win providing fantasy value.
  5. Ben Lively (SP Phillies)  Monday April 9 vs the Reds (SP Cody Reed) and Sunday April 15 at the Rays (SP Chris Archer).  The Reds are Rays are ice cold at the plate.
  6. Miles Mikolas (SP Cardinals) Monday April 9 vs the Brewers (SP Jhoulys Chacin) and Saturday April 14 at the Reds (SP Cody Reed).  The Brewers and Reds bats are ice cold right now and his 2 opposing SP are both good candidates for Mikolas to go 3-0 on the season.

These SP choices above are designed for WEEKLY fantasy leagues.  In DAILY leagues, you are always looking for great matchups on a daily basis and plugging in starting pitchers with good matchups to manufacture pitching categories so although some SP didn’t make the list above, that just means they didn’t have 2 optimal starts.  Therefore, pick certain SP up with good matchups for their 1 good start this week such as: Jon Gray (SP Rockies), Lance Lynn (SP Twins), Joey Lucchesi (SP Padres), Tyler Anderson (SP Rockies), Miguel Gonzalez (SP White Sox), Derek Holland (SP Giants), and Ivan Nova (SP Pirates).
