Lower Priced or Middle Tier Streamer Daily Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers to Target on 4-13-18:
Luke Weaver (SP St. Louis Cardinals) at the Cincinnati Reds (SP Tyler Mahle). Weaver is off to a strong start this year and dominated the Reds at Great American Ballpark last year. The St. Louis Cardinals traditionally have a lot of success vs the Reds home or away.
Chad Kuhl (SP Pittsburgh Pirates) at the Miami Marlins (SP Dillon Peters). Kuhl usually pitches better at home but you can’t ignore this matchup. Zach Wheeler just dominated the Marlins and he had over a 5 ERA last season. Kuhl at worst should rack up some K’s and hopefully gets a win too. The Pirates are on a roll.
Mike Clevinger (SP Cleveland Indians) vs the Toronto Blue Jays (SP Marcus Stroman). This is not a soft matchup but how do you steer away from a Cleveland starting pitcher right now. The Indians 4 game streak of allowing 1 run or less ended tonight in the late innings. Clevinger has been outstanding in 2 starts this season.
Kenta Maeda (SP Los Angeles Dodgers) vs the Arizona Diamondbacks (SP Zack Greinke). One might ask why am I picking Maeda vs a tough Diamondbacks offense and facing Zack Greinke? Well several Dodgers hitters have good numbers vs Greinke and Kenta Maeda pitches very well at home and the Diamondbacks are not nearly as potent on the road as they are in the friendly confines of their home ballpark.
Andrew Heaney (SP Los Angeles Angels) at the Kansas City Royals (SP Jason Hammel). This is a little bit of a reach but the Royals struggle with left handed pitchers and Heaney is facing Jason Hammel with a hot Angels offense behind him. Coming off an injury, I don’t expect Heaney to go more than 5 innings but he’s capable of pitching well. Again, this is more of a sleeper pick that will cost Fan Duel and Draft Kings owners very little money.
Andrew Triggs (SP Oakland A’s) at the Seattle Mariners (SP Mike Leake). Triggs was excellent in his first 2 starts this year. TRiggs is very tough against right handed hitters but sometimes struggles vs left handed hitters. If Triggs can keep Robinson Cano (2B Seattle Mariners) and Kyle Seager (3B Seattle Mariners) in check, Triggs will have a good night. Several hitters for the Oakland A’s have very good numbers vs Mike Leake (SP Seattle Mariners) so Triggs has a good opportunity for a win and should get some strikeouts.
Daily Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers You SHOULD PICK UP Hitters against them on 4-13-18:
Chris Tillman (SP Baltimore Orioles) at the Boston Red Sox. Tillman’s best days are behind him and this is a rough matchup against a hot Red Sox lineup.
Jason Hammel (SP Kansas City Royals) vs the Los Angeles Angels. Several Angels hitters have great numbers vs Hammel and the Angels are white hot right now.
Mike Leake (SP Seattle Mariners) vs the Oakland A’s. As I mentioned earlier, several A’s hitters have good numbers against Leake.
Anibal Sanchez (SP Atlanta Braves) at the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs hitting is so hard to predict as is Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez will throw the occasional gem but he also has the tendency of getting hammered. This one could go either way as the Cubs haven’t seen a ton of Sanchez and the Cubs haven’t hit consistently all year.
RELIEF PITCHER UPDATE:
It is still not 100% clear who the closer is for the Los Angeles Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals. Neither team seems to get many saves chances as they both either lose or blow teams out. We do know the closer in Los Angeles is either Kenyon Middleton or Blake Parker. Middleton came in the game in the 8th inning on April 11 so that is a little unusual nowadays but I think Middleton is the closer. In St.Louis, the closer is either Greg Holland or Bud Norris. As soon as a save opportunity arises for both teams, I will let everyone know who the official closer is for both the Los Angeles Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals. Both teams are playoff contenders so this information is very important for fantasy owners in roto category leagues where Saves is a separate category.
