Mookie Betts - 4/14/18 - Leaves Game Early (Left Foot Contusion)
Saturday April 14, 2018
Mookie Betts taken out of today’s game due to apparent injury.
Mookie Betts was taking out of the Red Sox’s game against Baltimore this afternoon due to an apparent injury suffered at a collision at home base in the 1st inning. Betts, who scored on an Andrew Benintendi double, had an awkward slide into home plate which looked like it banged up his legs a bit. Mookie also took the one hop throw from Baltimore’s Adam Jones directly off the back so that might also be the reason why he was taken out.

Mookie did stay in the game and took his at-bat in the bottom of the 3rd so it doesn’t look it’s anything serious, but obviously as a top fantasy player, you’ll want to monitor his status to ensure you don’t have to make any corresponding moves. The good news, the Red Sox most likely rained out tomorrow, Mookie will have some time to rest up and get back into action on Monday’s day game.
Some possible options if you need to pick up an OF include
- Aaron Hicks (New York Yankees) – Owned in 42% of Yahoo Leagues
- Corey Dickerson (Pittsburgh Pirates) – Owned in 33% of Yahoo Leagues
- Max Kepler (Minnesota Twins) – Owned in 28% of Yahoo Leagues
UPDATE: They announced that it was a left foot contusion in which x-rays were negative. I imagine that with a most likely day off tomorrow and possibly Monday due to weather, that Mookie will be back in the lineup when the Red Sox return to action after today.
