C-  Gary Sanchez (C New York Yankees) ($3900) Sanchez is the play on April 16 vs Caleb Smith (SP Miami Marlins).  Sanchez is starting to heat up and I like the Yankees to score some runs tomorrow vs Caleb Smith.

Please note that Fan Duel only requires you to start a 1B/C so technically you never have to start a catcher.

Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) Winning Lineup for 4/16/18

Alternate C: Russell Martin (C Toronto Blue Jays) ($2200) This play is strictly about Eric Skoglund (SP Kansas City Royals).  Personally, I would skip Catcher and pick a 1B in Fan Duel or Draft Kings for April 16.

1B-  Josh Bell (1B Pittsburgh Pirates) ($3600) was one of my streamer picks in my Start’em and Sit’em article posted on sportschatplace.com on April 15.  Bell is 1 for 5 with a solo HR vs German Marquez (SP Colorado Rockies).  Bell went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI on April 15 and Bell is usually a solid hitter at home.

Alternate 1B: CJ Cron (1B Tampa Bay Rays) ($2500) is a cheap option for your budget and is facing a very vulnerable Martin Perez (SP Texas Rangers).  Cron is 5 for 18 with 1 2B, 1 3B, and 6 RBI vs Perez.

2B-  DJ LeMahieu (2B Colorado Rockies) ($3800) is having an outstanding season with power we have never seen from LeMahieu in past seasons.  LeMahieu is probably one of the biggest surprises of this young season and hit another HR on April 15.  LeMahieu is facing a very hittable Steven Brault (SP Pittsburgh Pirates) who allows a lot of extra base hits.  LeMahieu is only 1 for 1 with a RBI vs Brault.

Alternate 2B: Adam Frazier (2B Pittsburgh Pirates) is not listed on Fan Duel even though Josh Harrison (2B/3B Pittsburgh Pirates) is seeing a hand specialist on April 16.  Frazier is 1 for 2 with 1 2B and a SB vs German Marquez (SP Colorado Rockies)

SS- Aledmys Diaz (SS Toronto Blue Jays) ($2600) hit 2 HR and drove in 4 runs in his last 2 games before the weather in Cleveland stopped his hot streak.  I look for Diaz to pick up where he left off in Cleveland vs lefty Eric Skoglund (SP Kansas City Royals).

Alternate SS:  Scott Kingery (2B/SS Philadelphia Phillies) ($3700) is white hot at 10 for 31 with 2 HR, 7 R, and 12 RBI in his last 7 starts.  Kingery is a rising star and will be eligible at multiple positions including the OF making him extremely valuable going forward in fantasy leagues.

3B-  Christian Villanueva (3B San Diego Padres) ($3300) is 5 for 8 with 2 HR, 3 R, and 5 RBI in his last 3 games and is facing lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu (SP Los Angeles Dodgers) who does not pitch nearly as well on the road as he does at home.

Alternate 3B: Travis Shaw (3B Milwaukee Brewers) ($3600) is starting to slowly heat up but hasn’t erupted yet like he did last year.  Luis Castillo (SP Cincinnati Reds) is a tough customer but Shaw is 2 for 5 with 1 2B and 1 R vs Castillo.  I like Shaw this week but on April 16 I feel Christian Villanueva (3B San Diego Padres) is the better and cheaper play towards your budget.

OF-  Nelson Cruz (OF/U Seattle Mariners) ($3600) owns Dallas Keuchel (SP Houston Astros) and is 10 for 30 with 1 2B, 3 HR, 3 R, and 6 RBI vs Keuchel.

OF- Adam Duvall (OF Cincinnati Reds) ($2400) has a great history at Miller Park and is 1 for 6 with a 2 run HR vs Brent Suter (SP Milwaukee Brewers).  Duvall hit a HR on April 15 and hit 30 plus HR the last 2 seasons.  Although Duvall is off to a very rough start this season, the HR will come and I think Duvall has a good week.

OF- Hunter Renfroe (OF San Diego Padres) ($3200) is only 3 for 14 in his last 4 starts with 2 HR, 3 R, and 7 RBI.  Renfroe is amazingly $200 more than Jose Pirela (OF San Diego Padres) who is really hot but I’m picking Renfroe because I feel the larger majority of the public will pick Pirela and the key to winning in Fan Duel or Draft Kings is hitting big with the players most people around the country don’t select.  Renfroe is 1 for 3 with 1 2B and a RBI vs Hyun-Jin Ryu (SP Los Angeles Dodgers)

Alternate OF: Aaron Judge (OF New York Yankees) ($5100), Bryce Harper (OF Washington Nationals) ($5400), George Springer (OF Houston Astros) ($4500), Jose Pirela (OF San Diego Padres) ($3000), and Chris Taylor (2B/OF Los Angeles Dodgers) ($2900) are all good options on April 16 and every alternate OF I listed is pretty hot except George Springer even though he hit 2 HR on April 13.

U-   CJ Cron (1B Tampa Bay Rays) ($2500) is a cheap option for your budget and is facing a very vulnerable Martin Perez (SP Texas Rangers).  Cron is 5 for 18 with 1 2B, 1 3B, and 6 RBI vs Perez.

Alternate U: I would pick one of my alternate OF as my choice for alternate U.  I will choose George Springer (OF Houston Astros) as he is heating up at 4 for 12 with 2 HR, 3 R, and 2 RBI in his last 3 games.  Springer was ICE cold for most of the season and is actually hitting .213 before his 0 for 3 effort on April 15.  Springer is 5 for 21 with 1 2B, 2 HR, 4 R, and 3 RBI vs James Paxton (SP Seattle Mariners).

SP-  Blake Snell (SP Tampa Bay Rays) ($7100) dominated the Chicago White Sox in his last start with 10K and 1 ER and is facing a depleted Texas Rangers lineup.  The last 3 SP Texas faced were Gerrit Cole (SP Houston Astros) who had 14 K’s, Charlie Morton (SP Houston Astros) who had 12 K’s, and Justin Verlander (SP Houston Astros) who had 11 K’s.  Jacob DeGrom (SP New York Mets $9400), Aaron Nola (SP Philadelphia Phillies $8800), James Paxton (SP Seattle Mariners $8500) and Dallas Keuchel (SP Houston Astros $8100) are too expensive considering all 4 SP are facing pretty tough matchups so picking Snell at $7100 makes a lot of sense in my opinion.

Alternate SP:  Luis Castillo (SP Cincinnati Reds) ($7000) has been below par in his 1st 3 starts of this young season but did look better in his last start on the road vs the white hot Philadelphia Phillies.  The Milwaukee Brewers have actually been better on the road this year than at Miller Park.
