C-  Gary Sanchez (C New York Yankees) ($3900) Sanchez is the play on April 17 vs Jarlin Garcia (SP Miami Marlins).  Sanchez is starting to heat up and had another big day on April 16.  I like the Yankees to score several runs much like they did on April 16.

Please note that Fan Duel only requires you to start a 1B/C so technically you never have to start a catcher.

Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) Winning Lineup for 4/17/18

USA TODAY Sports

Alternate C: Russell Martin (C Toronto Blue Jays) ($2200) Martin is 4 for 11 with a 3 run HR vs Danny Duffy (SP Kansas City Royals).  The game was cancelled on April 16 so the Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals play a doubleheader on April 17 and Martin will only play 1 game either against Eric Skoglund (SP Kansas City Royals) or Danny Duffy (SP Kansas City Royals) in the nightcap.

1B-  Cody Bellinger (1B/OF Los Angeles Dodgers) ($4000) Bellinger and the Los Angeles Dodgers are heating up as they scored 17 runs in the last 2 games and Bellinger scored 3 runs on April 16.  Bellinger is off to a slow start but he is too talented to stay down for long and has a juicy matchup in Bryan Mitchell (SP San Diego Padres).

Alternate 1B: CJ Cron (1B Tampa Bay Rays) ($2800) is a cheap option for your budget and is facing a very vulnerable Matt Moore (SP Texas Rangers).  Cron had a big game on April 16 going 2 for 6 with a solo HR.  Tyler Austin (1B New York Yankees) ($3000) is another cheap option to lean on if you don’t like Cron vs Matt Moore.

2B-  Jason Kipnis (2B Cleveland Indians) ($3400) is off to a very slow start this season but is starting to heat up and is playing in Puerto Rico on April 17.  The ballpark is smaller and the balls carry well there based on what I saw in the World Baseball Classic.  Kipnis is 2 for 7 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 R, and 1 RBI vs Jake Odorizzi (SP Minnesota Twins)

Alternate 2B: Scooter Gennett (2B Cincinnati Reds) ($3100) had a decent day on April 16 with 1 RBI and is hitting behind Billy Hamilton (OF Cincinnati Reds) and Joey Votto (1B Cincinnati Reds) and in front of Adam Duvall (OF Cincinnati Reds).  Hamilton and Duvall have great numbers vs Junior Guerra (SP Milwaukee Brewers) and both hitters had big games on April 16 and are heating up.  Gennett is 1 for 2 with 2 runs vs Junior Guerra (SP Milwaukee Brewers).

SS- Aledmys Diaz (SS Toronto Blue Jays) ($2600) hit 2 HR and drove in 4 runs in his last 2 games before the weather in Cleveland and Toronto stopped his hot streak.  I look for Diaz to pick up where he left off in Cleveland vs lefty Eric Skoglund and Danny Duffy (SP Kansas City Royals) in the doubleheader on April 17.  Diaz is 2 for 3 with 2 2B and a run vs Danny Duffy (SP Kansas City Royals)

Alternate SS:  Corey Seager (SS Los Angeles Dodgers) ($3600) is another Los Angeles Dodger off to a very slow start at the plate hitting a measely .200 going into the April 16th game.  Seager went 1 for 5 with 2 runs on April 17 so his average stays at .200 but he is coming around and like Bellinger (1B/OF Los Angeles Dodgers), Seager is too talented to stay down for long and has a juicy matchup in Bryan Mitchell (SP San Diego Padres).

3B-  Miguel Andujar (3B New York Yankees) ($2400) is 4 for 8 with 3 R, and 1 RBI in his last 2 games and is facing lefty Jarlin Garcia (SP Miami Marlins).  Andujar will start and will have plenty of lineup support around him in what figures to be another rout as was the case on April 16.

Alternate 3B: Christian Villanueva (3B San Diego Padres) ($3600) is 8 for 12 with 3 HR, 4 R, and 7 RBI in his last 4 games and is 2 for 3 with a solo HR vs Alex Wood (SP Los Angeles Dodgers).  You might ask why isn’t Villaneuva starting as opposed to being an alternate?  Villanueva hit HR in 3 consecutive games and the chances of him hitting another HR are not high.  Plus Villanueva is not a surprise anymore, his price is already rising, and many Fan Duel or Draft Kings members will start him on April 17.

OF-  George Springer (OF Houston Astros) ($4400) owns Ariel Miranda (SP Seattle Mariners) and is 4 for 15 with 4 HR, 5 R, and 4 RBI vs MIranda. Springer is 6 for 15 with 3 HR, 4 R, and 3 RBI in his last 4 games.

OF- Adam Duvall (OF Cincinnati Reds) ($2500) has a great history at Miller Park and is 3 for 9 with 1 2B, 2 HR, 2 R, and 3 RBI vs Junior Guerra (SP Milwaukee Brewers).  Duvall is 5 for 9 with 1 HR, 2 R, and 2 RBI in his last 2 games and hit 30 plus HR the last 2 seasons.  Although Duvall is off to a very rough start this season, the HR will come and I think Duvall is definitely heating up.

OF- Billy Hamilton (OF Cincinnati Reds) ($3200) is also heating up like Adam Duvall (OF Cincinnati Reds) and is 5 for 19 with 1 HR, 6 R, and 4 RBI in his last 5 games.  For some reason, Hamilton has not stolen a base in this 5 game span but we are all well aware Hamilton can steal bases in bunches racking up fantasy points.  Hamilton is 2 for 4 with a solo HR vs Junior Guerra (SP Milwaukee Brewers).

Alternate OF: Aaron Judge (OF New York Yankees) ($5100) is the #1 choice here and if you decide to alter the fantasy lineup I made in this article, I would totally understand you wanting to start Judge.  Judge has been white hot for nearly 2 weeks and even the bad weather didn’t slow him down on April 16 as he went 2 for 4 with 1 HR, 2 R, and 2 RBI. Other good alternate OF options on April 17 are Khris Davis (OF Oakland Athletics) ($4000), Hunter Renfroe (OF San Diego Padres) ($3100), Adam Jones (OF Baltimore Orioles) ($3000), and Domingo Santana (OF Milwaukee Brewers) ($2800).  A very sneaky and cheap option would be Juan Lagares (OF New York Mets) ($2000).  Lagares went 1 for 3 with a run and 2 SB on April 16 and he is 17 for 44 with 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 R, and 5 RBI vs Gio Gonzales (SP Washington Nationals).

U-   CJ Cron (1B Tampa Bay Rays) ($2800) is a cheap option for your budget and is facing a very vulnerable Matt Moore (SP Texas Rangers).  Cron had a big game on April 16 going 2 for 6 with a solo HR.

Alternate U: I would pick one of my alternate OF as my choice for alternate U.  I will choose Hunter Renfroe (OF San Diego Padres) ($3100) because he is cheaper than Aaron Judge (OF New York Yankees) ($5100) and I would be over budget if I start Judge.  Renfroe is 2 for 6 vs Alex Wood (SP Los Angeles Dodgers) with 1 2B and a solo HR and is 4 for 10 with 1 HR, 4 R, and 3 RBI in his last 3 games.

SP-  Masahiro Tanaka (SP New York Yankees) ($9200) is facing the Miami Marlins at home.  Do I really need to explain this pick more?  The Miami Marlins are the best pitchers matchup in MLB.  There is absolutely no need to over think this.

Alternate SP:  Alex Wood (SP Los Angeles Dodgers) ($8400) had a very last rough start vs the Oakland A’s allowing 7 earned runs but will look to bounce back vs the San Diego Padres.  Hyun-Jin Ryu just struck out 9 Padres in 6 innings allowing 2 ER and got the win.  I expect a similar performance from Alex Wood on April 17.  Start both Masahiro Tanaka and Alex Wood with high confidence.
