Taijuan Walker, the former top prospect for the Seattle Mariners who really put his name on the map last season after posting a 9-9 record to go along with a 3.49 ERA and 8.35 K/9 will miss the remainder of the season as he will be going under Tommy John Surgery.

Walker had a nice start to his 2018 campaign as he currently is posting a 3.46 ERA with 9 K’s through 13.0 IP and although he is not a top-tier guy, Walker certainly has been a decent option to roll with in the right matchup due to his upside when it comes to K’s.

In the short-term, Arizona looks like they will be sending out the right-handed Matt Koch who is in his limited action at the Major League level, hasn’t been overly impressive. The former Mets 3rd round biggest moment last year came when he came into the game in the 9th inning with a 7-1 lead and allowed walk, double, and single before being pulled.

If you need to replace Walker on your fantasy teams, here are some of available players based on the %’s on ESPN:

1) Joey Lucchesi (SD – 57.6% Owned) - If you haven’t been watching San Diego, this kid is the real deal and has been outstanding in his first 4 starts of the season as he has already ricked up 25 K’s and has just a 1.66 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. If by miracle he is still available in your league, drop what you’re doing right now and go pick him up.

2) Blake Snell (TB – 55.6% Owned) – You’ll have to pay attention to the matchups as Snell pitches in the AL East, however, the young left-hander has some great stuff and can really mix up with a wide arsenal of pitches.  He has looked great in his last two games against Texas and the Chicago White Sox, giving up just 2 ER while racking up 19 K’s in just 12.1 IP.

3) Tyler Mahle (CIN – 9.2% Owned) – The young right-handed is under 10.0% owned and although he has had a couple of rough outings so far this season, he has also thrown a few impressive outings and looked solid today outside of a few control problems against Milwaukee. Mahle has an impressive 8.6 K/9 and although there be some bumps in the road, in the right matchup he can certainly give you a few good outings.
