C- Gary Sanchez (C New York Yankees) ($3900) Gary Sanchez has enjoyed a ton of career success vs Marco Estrada (SP Toronto Blue Jays) like several Yankees have. The Yankees don’t manufacture a lot of runs and live on the long ball. Marco Estrada allows a lot of long balls because he lives and dies on the location of his changeup. If Estrada gets the ball up in the strike zone, bad things usually happen. Gary Sanchez is 4 for 19 with 4 HR, 4 R, and 7 RBI vs Marco Estrada (SP Toronto Blue Jays).
Alternate C: Yadier Molina (C St. Louis Cardinals) ($3400) Brandon Finnegan (SP Cincinnati Reds) made his 2018 debut after a long stint on the DL and did not receive a warm welcome from the St. Louis Cardinals on April 14th allowing 5 ER in 4.1 innings. Molina did go 0 for 4 in that game but he is 5 for 12 with 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 R, and a RBI vs Finnegan. Molina, like several Cardinals hitters, is a Reds killer.

1B- Paul Goldschmidt (1B Arizona Diamondbacks) ($4300) Tyson Ross (SP San Diego Padres) traditionally does not pitch as well away from Petco Park and he pitches in one of the worst pitching ballparks in baseball on April 20. Goldschmidt is 8 for 24 with 1 3B, 2 HR, 7 R, and 6 RBI vs Tyson Ross (SP San Diego Padres). Goldschmidt is also 8 for 21 with 2 HR, 5 R, and 3 RBI in his last 6 games. I like Goldschmidt to do some damage tomorrow.
Alternate 1B: Joey Votto (1B Cincinnati Reds) ($3800) Votto is off to a dreadful start this season batting only .258 with 0 HR, 2 R, and 5 RBI. However, Michael Wacha (SP St Louis Cardinals) has a 5.52 ERA and 1.64 WHIP this season and Votto is 13 for 34 with 4 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 R, and 4 RBI vs Wacha. Votto is too good of a hitter to stay down for this long as he is averaging 31 HR and batting .320 in the last 3 seasons. I like Votto to break out of his funk on April 20.
2B- Whit Merrifield (2B Kansas City Royals) ($3400) tore up Detroit last season and has great numbers vs Michael Fulmer and Daniel Norris (SP Detroit Tigers). I like Merrifield to have a big doubleheader on April 20.
Alternate 2B: Yoan Moncada (2B Chicago White Sox) ($3400) Moncada is coming off a monster series vs the Oakland Athletics going 5 for 14 with 2 HR, 4 R, 6 RBI, and 2 SB. Moncada has never faced Justin Verlander (SP Houston Astros) and Verlander is a tough matchup for anyone. However, most people will shy away from Moncada because of the Verlander matchup so that gives me good reason to start a white hot Moncada. The ball looks like a beach ball to Moncada right now and when a hitter is this hot, sometimes it doesn’t matter who he’s facing.
SS- Manny Machado (SS/3B Baltimore Orioles) ($4700) is heating up at 5 for 9 with 2 HR, 4 R, and 5 RBI in his last 2 games and is a whopping 8 for 12 with 2 2B, 3 HR, 6 R, and 4 RBI vs Trevor Bauer (SP Cleveland Indians). Machado is in a contract year which is usually a springboard for fantasy baseball production. Machado is very expensive at $4700 but he might be worth the price on April 20.
Alternate SS: Jed Gyorko (SS/3B St Louis Cardinals) ($2400) is not 3B eligible in Fan Duel even though he is in most fantasy leagues. However, SS might be the perfect position to start Gyorko in Fan Duel since the position is so thin. Gyorko is a backup coming off the DL but he plays vs lefties. Check St. Louis’s lineup before you start Gyorko but he is $2300 cheaper than Manny Machado (SS/3B Baltimore Orioles) and Gyorko went 2 for 2 with a run on April 19.
3B- Jeimer Candelario (3B Detroit Tigers) ($3000) is white hot right now at 9 for 17 with 3 HR, 3 R, and 6 RBI in his last 4 games including a 4 for 4 performance with a 3 run HR on April 19. Candelario has very good numbers vs Jason Hammel and Jakob Junis (SP Kansas City Royals). I like Candelario to have a big doubleheader on April 20.
Alternate 3B: Rafael Devers (3B Boston Red Sox) ($3600) is also white hot at 7 for 13 with 2 HR, 2 R, and 7 RBI in his last 3 games and is facing Kendall Graveman (SP Oakland Athletics) who has been awful this season at 0-3 with a 9.87 ERA and 2.02 WHIP. The Boston Red Sox lineup is so hot and Devers will have plenty of RBI and Run opportunities to cash in.
OF- Aaron Judge (OF New York Yankees) ($5100) is on fire for the last 2 weeks and hit 2 HR in his last 3 games. If this is not reason enough to start Judge, he is 7 for 17 with 2 2B, 2 HR, 3 R, and 5 RBI vs Marco Estrada (SP Toronto Blue Jays). Several batters in the middle of the Yankees lineup have great numbers vs Estrada so runs and RBI opportunities should present themselves for Judge on April 20.
OF- Andrew Benintendi (OF Boston Red Sox) ($4000) You might have already noticed the trend but I think it’s a wise decision to start some Boston Red Sox especially vs a struggling Kendall Graveman (SP Oakland Athletics). If I can start them all, I would but the Fan Duel or Draft Kings budget doesn’t allow me to do so unfortunately. Benintendi is 7 for 17 with 1 HR, 3 R, and 8 RBI in his last 4 games.
OF- Mark Canha (OF Oakland Athletics) ($2600) is only 1 for 4 with 1 2B vs Drew Pomeranz (SP Boston Red Sox) but Pomeranz has to be rusty making his 1st start of the season off the DL and always has the tendency to walk too many batters allowing the Oakland Athletics the opportunity to drive in some runs. Pomeranz walked 9 batters in 9.2 innings in his AAA rehab appearances. Canha is 7 for 21 with 2 HR, 6 R, and 6 RBI in his last 5 games.
Alternate OF: JD Martinez (OF Boston Red Sox) ($4500) is my #1 choice for an alternate OF and quite frankly I wanted to start him but had to sub in Andrew Benintendi (OF Boston Red Sox) for budget purposes. Like most of the Boston Red Sox lineup, Martinez is ridiculously hot at 11 for 20 with 2 HR, 7 R, and 4 RBI in his last 5 games.
Mookie Betts (OF Boston Red Sox) ($5000), Giancarlo Stanton (OF New York Yankees) ($4800), Josh Reddick (OF Houston Astros) ($3500), and Carlos Gonzalez (OF Colorado Rockies) ($3500) are other good alternate options on April 20. Carlos Gonzalez did leave April 18’s game early and is listed as day-to-day on the team injury report.
U- Rafael Devers (3B Boston Red Sox) ($3600) is also white hot at 7 for 13 with 2 HR, 2 R, and 7 RBI in his last 3 games and is facing Kendall Graveman (SP Oakland Athletics) who has been awful this season at 0-3 with a 9.87 ERA and 2.02 WHIP. The Boston Red Sox lineup is so hot and Devers will have plenty of RBI and Run opportunities to cash in.
Alternate U: Joey Votto (1B Cincinnati Reds) ($3800) Votto is off to a dreadful start this season batting only .258 with 0 HR, 2 R, and 5 RBI.
SP- Sean Newcomb (SP Atlanta Braves) ($6800) Several aces are pitching on April 20 but I am unable to start any of them due to the fact I wanted to start several hot high priced hitters. However, I am very comfortable with starting Newcomb on April 20 vs the New York Mets. Newcomb has a 2.70 ERA vs the Mets and pitched very well vs 2 tough opponents on the road in the Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies. Newcomb’s largest issue is always walking too many batters and then sometimes displaying the inability to strand them on the bases. If Newcomb can maintain his control, he will rack up strikeouts while not allowing many runs. Newcomb’s chances for a win are diminished due to the fact he is facing Noah Syndegaard (SP New York Mets) but the Atlanta Braves have been hitting well most of this young season. Newcomb is a quality streamer on April 20.
Alternate SP: Mike Minor (SP Texas Rangers) ($6500) pitched great in his 2 starts at home this year and Minor has a career 1.64 ERA vs the Seattle Mariners and the Mariners have a combined .148 batting average vs Minor. Minor is facing Felix Hernandez (SP Seattle Mariners) who traditionally struggles at Arlington, Texas. The Houston Astros starting pitching staff really slowed down the Mariners bats this week so Minor is catching Seattle at the right time. Minor has an opportunity at pitching well and gathering a win.
