Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup - 4/29/18
It’s Sunday April 29th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (1:05 EST) for tonight MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Facebook at the Sports Chat Place page.
Yesterday Recap: We were right about Houston putting up a good offensive performance and did have Altuve who was our top guy at 37.4 points, however, outside of Christian Villanueva who hit another HR agianst a LHP, we didn’t get much from the rest of team and our “low-cost” pitcher, Jack Flaherty only got us 12 points which is just not going to get it done.
Here is my current lineup for today:
Although we have a bunch of games to choose from tomorrow, I’m going with a lineup that primary features two stacks as I really love the matchups that the Blue Jays and Mariners have tomorrow afternoon.
P – J.A. Happ (TOR - $8,800) – Happ is not the most expensive pitcher you can go with on Sunday afternoon, however, I think the left-hander brings the most value as he has a nice matchup against the Texas Rangers. Happ comes into this matchup with a .372 ERA and is holding his opponents to just a .223 average on the season. Texas certainly has some power, however, Texas hasn’t been great against LHP on the season and 23 of their 26 HR’s have comes agianst RHP. Happ doesn’t seem to have overpowering stuff, however, he has a sneaky fastball that hitters have trouble catching up to when he brings it up in the zone and as Happ has an impressive 12.72 K/9 ratio on the season, I think he is a good option at the $8,800 price.
C/1B – Justin Smoak (TOR - $3,800) – This is the 2nd straight article that I’m going with Justin Smoak and I don’t think I have to tell you why after you notice that Smoak is going against the LHP Martin Perez of the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Perez has really struggled this season as he has a 9.82 ERA and 1.96 HR/9 ratio on the season. Smoak is hitting .405 against LHP on the year and has excellent value tomorrow as he is hitting .438 (7-16) against Perez in his career.
2B – Robinson Cano (SEA - $3,800) - Robinson Cano has a solid season so far for the Mariners and you have to really like him tomorrow as Seattle is going up agianst Mike Tomlin of the Cleveland Indians who comes into this game with a 10.03 ERA and his given up 8 HR’s in just 12.2 IP. If you have read my High Cost/Lost Cost article are have seen my “Long Ball Lock” video, you’ll know how much I love targeting Seattle hitters tomorrow. Cano is hitting .307 on the season and as he has a .400 (8-20) average with 2 HR’s agianst Tomlin in his career, I think you should try to get Cano in your lineups.
3B – Kyle Seager (SEA - $3,600) – Kyle Seager is a little expensive for the results that he is hitting just .250 on the season with 3 HR’s however, we all know that Seager can get real hot at any moment and I just feel like I need to get him in Seattle stack tomorrow against Mike Tomlin. Seager is 5 for his last 12 with a HR and as he is 6 for 14 (.429) against Tomlin in his career, I like Seager to have a big day in Cleveland.
SS – Orlando Arcia (MIL- $2,300) – I didn’t have much money left at the SS position tonight so I’m going to Milwaukee to roster Orlando Arcia. Arcia has disappointed fantasy owners who took a shot with him as a sleeper pick this year, however, the Milwaukee SS comes in at a good value at just $2,300, especially as he has the power and speed to do some major damage on the offensive end. Arcia is hitting just .203 on the season, however, he has hit better vs. RHP on the season and will be seeing one in Chicago’s Tyler Chatwood. Arcia is 1 for 3 with a triple in his career against Chatwood and for $2,300, there are worse options you could go with.
OF – Kevin Pillar (TOR - $3,000) – Kevin Pillar is generally known for his defense, however, the speedy CF for the Blue Jays is hitting .301 on the season with a HR, 11 RBI’s, and 4 SB’s. Pillar has that great matchup against Perez who is allowing RHB’s to hit over .400 against him on the season and Pillar comes into this game swinging a hot bat as he is 3 for 6 in his previous two games going into tonight with 2 doubles, and a triple. Pillar is 3 for 8 against Perez in his career and as I think the Blue Jays will be putting a big number on the scoreboard tomorrow, I like for just $3,000.
OF – Steve Pearce (TOR - $2,800) – Steve Pearce has been a popular player in daily fantasy baseball as the Blue Jays outfielder has some great power and comes in with a price tag under $3,000. Pearce is hitting just .250 over the past week, however, he is hitting a respectable .283 on the season with 3 HR’s and 13 RBI’s. Pearce is hitting .324 against LHP on the season and is 1 for 3 with a HR in his career against Martin Perez.
OF – Nelson Cruz (SEA - $3,800) – Did I mention that Mike Tomlin has given up 8 HR’s on the season in just 12.2 IP for a 6.17 HR/9 ratio? That is unheard of……and although it’s bound to improve a bit, I think Tomlin is in for a very long day against Seattle tomorrow and I want to make sure I have Nelson Cruz in my Seattle stack. Cruz has been battling a sore ankle, so you want to ensure that he is in the lineup, however, the slugging DH does have 4 HR’s in 16 games this season and has a .300 average with a HR against Tomlin in his career.
Utility – Yangervis Solarte (TOR - $3,200) – Yangervis Solarte…..as I learned when I did my video tonight, is not a name I can easily pronounce, however that doesn’t mean I don’t really like him as part of my Blue Jays stack tomorrow afternoon. The switch-hitting Solarte might be hitting just .218 on the season, however, he has shown his power as he has 6 HR’s on the year. Solarte is hitting .400 with a HR and 6 BB’s agianst Texas this season and I like his chances to keep up those numbers with Martin Perez on the mound tomorrow.
Good Luck Everyone!
