MLB - Main Slate (7:05 PM) - FanDuel Lineup for 5/4/18
Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/4/18
It’s Friday May 4th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Yesterday Recap: Couldn’t follow up our big win from Wednesday as our team was just boarder line average yesterday. We were correct to target a Braves stack in Atlanta’s 11-0 victory over the Mets however, after making adjustments to get Freddie Freeman in the line who only got us 9.4 points, we sacrificed the SS position and took out Kurt Suzuki and Alex Gordon who each had HR’s. Lance McCullers didn’t have an outstanding game and in the end we finished with just 109.5 points.
Here is my current lineup for today:
We have a couple nice matchups on the day, however, I’m ensuring that I have a lot of the big bats of the Yankees in my lineup as they have the best matchup of the day against Josh Tomlin of the Cleveland Indians.
P – Jose Berrios (MIN- $8,400) – Jose Berrios has struggled a bit in his last two starts but I’m all over the talented right-hander with his great matchup against the Chicago White Sox tonight. Even with the recent tough starts Berrios has a 3.63 ERA and .092 WHIP and has some of the best stuff in the game. Berrios has a solid 9.4 K/9 ratio and can easily get 10+ strikeouts on any given night. Berrios has dominated the Chicago White Sox in his career as he is holding the current White Sox roster to just a .176 average (9 for 83) while striking them out 47% of the time. Berrios has one of his best starts of the season against the White Sox earlier this season, going 7 innings giving up no runs while striking out 11 and I don’t see why he can’t repeat a performance like that tonight.
C/1B – Ian Desmond (COL- $2,800) – Ian Desmond is not having a great start to his season with the Rockies as he is batting just .173 on the season and has struggled even more as of late, hitting just .125 over the past week, however, he has a decent matchup against Zach Wheeler of the Mets on Friday. Desmond still have that nice power/speed combination that we like to target in DFS and even with his struggles this season, has 4 HR’s and 3 SB’s. Desmond has hit .294 against Wheeler over his career and with the win blowing out at Citi Field tonight, I think Desmond has some nice value at just $2,800.
2B – Gleyber Torres (NYY- $2,900) – This is the first of my Yankees stack as I had to at least one value Yankee in my lineup as the big bats are pretty expensive and Gleyber Torres fits that bill for me. Torres is one of the Yankees top prospects and has played well since being called up to the majors as he is hitting .316 on the season. Torres doesn’t have offensives stats that jump out on the page however he is hitting .308 against RHP’s on the season and did have a nice 3 RBI game yesterday. Torres and the Yankees have the best matchup of the day against Josh Tomlin who is allowing LHB’s to hit .452 against him on the season.
3B – Pedro Alvarez (BAL- $2,300) – Pedro Alvarez is one of the ultimate “Boom or Bust” players to take in DFS as although you can’t really expect Alvarez to rack up a ton of hits during any outing as he is hitting just .234 on the season, he certainly has the power for big games as he has does have 6 HR’s and 13 RBI’s on the season. Alvarez should be in the lineup against the RHP Daniel Mengden and as he has had two 50+ point FanDuel performance lately, I’ll take a chance with Alvarez tonight for just $2,400.
SS – Brandon Crawford (SF - $2,200) – I promise you, I’m getting to the heart of my offense for the night very shortly, however, before I do that , I need to explain why I would be taking a chance on Brandon Crawford of the Giants who is just hitting .204 on the season. Crawford has been playing better as of late as going into last night’s game he was 3 for his last 8 with 3 RBI’s and has a decent matchup against Mike Foltynewicz of the Atlanta Braves on Friday. Foltynewicz has pitched well for the Braves this season, however, he has been hit hard by basically all the Giants throughout his career and as Crawford is 6 for 12 with 3 HR’s against Foltynewicz he has some nice value on Friday.
OF – Aaron Judge (NYY - $4,600) – All right….here is my first real big bat and it Aaron Judge who had the best matchup of the night as he is going against Josh Tomlin of the Cleveland Indians. Josh Tomlin has really had a tough go at it on the mound this season as he comes into this game with a 9.68 ERA and a 5.09 HR/9 ratio. Judge is hitting .312 on the season with 7 HR’s and has been great against RHP on the year as he is hitting .333 with 5 of his 7 HR’s. It’s been over a week since Judge has hit a HR and I just have a feeling that he will be sending one out tonight against Tomlin with the wind blowing out at Yankee Stadium.
OF – Matt Joyce (OAK - $2,500) – Matt Joyce is always worth a look if he is going against a RHP and you need to save on some salary. Joyce is hitting just .205 with 2 HR’s and although the power numbers aren’t there as of yet, he certainly still has enough pop in his bat to get us a HR. I like Joyce tonight as he has a solid matchup against Andrew Casher of the Baltimore Orioles who comes into this game with a 1.85 HR/9 ratio. Joyce has had some good success against Casher as in his career he is 3 for 7 with 2 HR’s.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton (NYY - $4,900) – We all know that it hasn’t been a dream start for Giancarlo Stanton with the Yankees as the high-priced superstar is hitting just .234 on the season, however, Stanton has starting to play a little better as of late and had a monster game on Wednesday as he was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 HR’s, and 4 RBI’s. As I mentioned, Tomlin has really struggled this season as he is given up 10 HR’s in just 17.2 IP and Stanton could be in for another big game if his bat gets hot against Stanton.
Utility – Didi Gregorius (NYY - $4,400) – I wanted to get value out of the SS with Brandon Crawford, however, I wanted to still make sure I got Didi Gregorius in my lineup with his matchup against Tomlin. Gregorius is my “Long Ball Lock” of the day as he is hitting .333 on the season with 10 HR’s and 30 RBI’s and is going against Tomlin who is allowing LHB’s to hit .452 against him on the season. Didi has 8 HR’s and a 1.205 OPS against RHP and an incredible 1.511 OPS at home which makes him almost a must play in your DFS lineups today.
Have a great Friday everyone and Good Luck this afternoon!
