Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/5/18
Update (4:12 PM) - With Matt Davidson not getting the start tonight, we need to make some adjustments. I ended up replacing Logan Morrison with Josh Bell, who is batting clean-up tonight and with the extra money, was able to put Trevor Story in my utility spot in his solid matchup agiainst the LHP Steven Matz who is prone to giving up HR's. I've replaced the image below with my current lineup. Good Luck everyone.
It’s Saturday May 5th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Yesterday Recap: It was break even kind of day as although we didn’t cash in the Tournament with our lineups that scored 143.70 points, it was enough to win the 50/50 games so all and all, what we lost in the the big GPP Tournaments, we made back (plus a little more….) in the 50/50’s. We were all over some break through games by Gleyber Torres and Brandon Crawford who averaged about 30 FanDuel points each and got a nice game by Aaron Judge however, Berrios didn’t pitch well and as we got a couple of poor performances in Pedro Alvarez and Didi Gregorius who both put up 0 point performances.
Here is my current lineup for today:
I had to rework some things from my original lineup that I posted last night as Yoan Moncada was removed from last night’s game due to a hamstring injury. Here is my current lineup.
P – Trevor Cahill (OAK- $7,100) – I was going back and forth whether I wanted to go with Charlie Morton or Cahill tonight, as there are a lot of great hitting matchups on tonight’s slate, I’m going to go with Cahill who has pitched well in his three starts so far this season. Cahill comes into this matchup with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP and has a great matchup against the struggling Baltimore Orioles. Cahill is holding the current Orioles lineup to just a .175 average (6 for 38) and has struck those batters 38% of the time. Cahill has a solid 9.5 K/9 ratio and has the potential for a decent night with strikeouts as Baltimore rank 24th in strikeout rate.
C/1B – Logan Morrison (MIN- $2,600) – Logan Morrison had a slow start to his Twins career but has really picked it up as of late. Morrison is hitting just .187 on the season however, over the past week he is hitting .333 with 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s. Morrison has a 4-game hitting streak and has a decent matchup against Hector Santiago in which he is 2 for 5 lifetime against with 2 HR’s.
2B – Brian Dozier (MIN- $3,300) – I originally had Yoan Moncada in this spot as he has been so good against RHP’s this season and has a nice matchup against Lance Lynn, however, as he was taken out of last night’s game with a hamstring injury, I decided to switch it up and go with Brian Dozier. Dozier is hitting just .242 on the season but does have 5 HR’s and 11 RBI’s and had a nice game last night going 3 for 5 with a triple and HR. Dozier is hitting .294 against LHP on the season and as he capable of big games as he showed last night, I like Dozier’s value at just $3,300.
3B – Nolan Arenado (COL- $4,700) – Nolan Arenado is my “Long Ball Lock” of the day and I’m making sure I get him my daily lineup today as I love his matchup against Steven Matz of the New York Mets. Arenado is hitting .320 on the season with 7 HR’s and 19 RBI’s and has been hitting for some good power as of late as he has 3 HR’s over the past week. Arenado is hitting .395 against LHP on the season and Matz has struggled with HR’s this season as he has a 2.08 HR/9 ratio. Arenado is 2 for 8 against Matz in his career with both of those hits being HR’s.
SS – Jean Segura (SEA - $3,800) – Jean Segura has played some solid baseball for the Mariners this season as the SS is hitting .298 on the season with 2 HR’s, 24 RBI’s, 22 runs, and 5 SB’s. Segura is hitting .304 over the past week with a HR and 8 RBI’s. Segura has some decent power/speed which is a great player to target in DFS and has fared well against the LHP Tyler Staggs of the Angels as he is 4 for 5 against the left-hander in his career
OF – J.D. Martinez (BOS - $4,900) – J.D Martinez has been worth every penny for the Red Sox this season and comes into this game with a .342 average, 7 HR’s, and 25 RBI’s. Martinez has been on a tear as of late as he is hitting .429 over the past week with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s. Martinez has a decent matchup against the left-handed Cole Hamels of the Texas Rangers who can give up some HR’s as he has a 1.82 HR/9 ratio. Martinez has had some success against Hamels in his career as he is 4 for 12 against Hamels in his career with a HR.
OF – Dan Palka (CWS - $2,900) – I’m going back to the White Sox/Twins matchup as I’m going to get a small stack against Minnesota’s Lance Lynn who comes into this game with a 8.37 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .287 against him on the season. Palka has done a decent job since being called up to the majors and is currently hitting .250 on the season with 2 HR’s and 8 RBI’s. Palka has a ton of power and has posted an impressive .923 OPS against RHP on the season.
OF – Hernan Perez (MIL - $2,200) – Herman Perez hasn’t got many opportunities this season and although he is hitting just .200 on the season, he does have 2 HR’s and 2 SB’s in 62 AB’s on the season. Perez should be getting a start today as he has fared well against Jameson Taillon of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the past as he is 5 for 13 in his career against with 3 HR’s and 7 RBI’s. Make sure that Perez is getting the start today, but if he does, he has some nice value today.
Utility – Matt Davidson (CWS - $3,500) – To complete my White Sox stack, I’m going with their 3rd baseman, Matt Davidson, who comes into this game with a .263 average with an impressive 9 HR’s on the season. Davidson is hitting .348 over the past week and has that great matchup against Lance Lynn. Davidson has actually hit RHP’s much better this season as he has a .282 average and .927 OPS against righties and as he is capable of a multi-HR game at anytime, I like him tonight in a great matchup.
Have a great Saturday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
