Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/6/18
It’s Sunday May 6th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (1:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Yesterday Recap: Another above average day as although our team didn’t place in any of the tournaments, it was still a profitable day as our squad easily hit the 50/50’s with 126.1 points. We started off great as Nolan Arenado (also my “Long Ball Lock”) hit a HR in the top of the 1st inning for the Rockies, however, the rest of the offense really didn’t do much as our next highest point total was J.D. Martinez at 12.7 points. What really saved our lineup was an outstanding pitching performance by Trevor Cahill who went 6 innings while striking out 12 Orioles, getting us 58 FanDuel points.
Here is my current lineup for today:
My original lineup that I posted in last night’s video at Sports Chat Place on Facebook actually was for the “All-Day” slate so I switched some things around to make it for the “main slate” that starts at 1:05pm.
P – Kyle Gibson (OAK- $7,800) – I’m disappointed that I’m not going to be able to go with Chris Sale as he isn’t on the “Main Slate” today, however, I do like the value that Kyle Gibson brings to the table today at just $7,800. Gibson has pitched well this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.28 WHIP and has been striking out people at a nice rate as he currently has a 10.1 K/9 ratio. Gibson has fared well against the current White Sox lineup as he is holding them to a .221 average (15-68) while striking them out a 24% of the time. The White Sox rank 23rd in strikeout rate and as Gibson has struck out 23 batters in his last 3 starts, I like Gibson to have a nice day today.
C/1B – C.J. Cron (TB- $2,900) – I’m starting with C.J. Cron with my offense as although he is hitting just .261 on the season, he does have some great power as he has 7 HR’s and 20 RBI’s on the season. I’m going with Cron mainly due to his matchup against Marco Estrada of the Toronto Blue Jays who currently has a 6.19 ERA and has given up 9 HR’s this season in just 32 IP. Cron doesn’t have the greatest average against RHP but does have 4 HR’s against righties and as Estrada is allowing RHB’s to hit .324 against him, I’ll take my chances with Cron today.
2B – Daniel Robinson (TB- $2,800) – Daniel Robinson has slowed down from his hot start, however, even as he is hitting just .125 over the past week, Robinson still comes into this game with a .297 average, 3 HR’s, and 8 RBI’s. I’m going with Robertson as he is another RHB that has been hitting RHP better this season as he currently has a .326 average and .891 OPS against righties. As I mentioned with C.J. Cron, I wanted to target going against Estrada today as he has really struggled and I think Robinson and the Rays have a lot of nice value this afternoon.
3B – Travis Shaw (MIL- $3,800) – My other stack of the day will be with Milwaukee and their matchup against Chad Kuhl of the Pittsburgh Pirates so I’m starting it off the Brewers slugging 3B, Travis Shaw. Shaw is hitting just .241 on the season however, he does have 6 HR’s, 16 RBI’s, and 19 runs scored. Kuhl has really struggled on the road this season as he had a 7.04 ERA and allowing opponents to hit .343 against him. LHB’s have a .357 average and 1.154 OPS against Kuhl this season and as Shaw is 3 for 6 lifetime against Kuhl, I like Shaw’s chances for a big game today.
SS – Orlando Arcia (MIL - $2,200) – Orlando Arcia hasn’t performed as well as the Brewers have wanted him so far this year, however, Arcia has some good value at the $2,200 mark as he had some power and speed that give produce big games. Arcia is hitting just .229 on the season but I like him in my stack against Chad Kuhl who also has been giving up a lot of HR’s this season as he has a 1.95 HR/9 ratio. Arcia should be in the lineup today as he is 5 for 10 against Kuhl in his lifetime and I hope that he can be big part of my Brewers stack.
OF – Yoenis Cespedes (NYM - $4,900) – Yoenis Cespedes is hitting just .240 on the season however, the 6-year veteran is still showing some good power as the Mets outfielder currently has 7 HR’s and 26 RBI’s. Cespedes will be up against the left-hander Kyle Freeman who has been nothing more than average this season with a 4.24 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. Cespedes has been hot as of late as he is hitting .350 on the season with a HR and 2 doubles and although he hasn’t been great against LHP, I think Cespedes can have a good day against Kyle Freeman at Citi Field.
OF – Lorenzo Cain (MIL - $3,400) – I’m going back to Milwaukee stack for my last two OF’s slots and I’ll start with Lorenzo Cain who comes into this game with a .274 average with 4 HR’s, 10 RBI’s, and 8 SB’s. Cain bats at the top of the Brewers lineup who I think is in for a big game against Chad Kuhl and as I like Cain’s ability to hit both HR’s and steal bases, I think he has some good value against Kuhl.
OF – Christian Yelich (MIL - $4,000) – Christian Yelich will be the last of the Brewers I have in my stack against Chad Kuhl. Yelich is having a nice first season with Milwaukee and comes into this game with a .291 average with 3 HR’s and 11 RBI’s. Yelich has been playing well as of late as he is hitting .360 with 2 doubles and a HR over the past week. Yelich has a .296 average and .906 OPS against RHP on the season and with Kuhl’s struggles against LHB’s, I’m willing to pay up for Yelich this afternoon.
Utility – Eduardo Escobar (MIN - $4,000) – Eduardo Escobar has been on of the hotter players as of late and he continued his solid play as of late as he was 1 for 4 last night with a double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and a walk. The switching hitting Escobar is hitting .314 on the season with 6 HR’s and 18 RBI’s and has been great over the past week as he is hitting .357 with 5 doubles and 3 HR’s. Escobar is hitting .308 against RHP this season with 5 of his 6 HR’s and I like his matchup against Jamie Shields of the Chicago White Sox.
Have a great Sunday everyone and Good Luck this afternoon!
