Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/8/18
Update (6:10 EST) - Hi everyone.....as D.J. LeMahleu is back in the Rockies lineup and costs just $3,300 against LHP, he is almost a must play and I've made the adjustments to get him in. The only other adjustment is taking Nomar Mazara and replacing him with Mark Trumbo who has a nice matchup against Danny Duffy who has given up alot of HR's to RHB's this season. I've replaced the image below my current lineup. Good Luck!
It’s Tuesday May 8th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.
Yesterday Recap: We bounced back with a solid performance after a tough outing on Sunday and posted a respectable 157.4 FanDuel points which although didn’t cash for Tournament plays, did just make it past the cash line for the 50/50’s which is always a nice way to start the week. We were all over Adrian Gonzalez who had another monster game against Homer Bailey with 43.6 FanDuel points and got solid performances by Nomar Mazara and Nick Castellanos. I wish I went with my “low-cost” pitcher in Fernando Romero who his 2nd consecutive nice game in as many outings and was disappointed with my mini-Giants stack which produced just 12 FanDuel points.
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Sean Newcomb (ATL- $7,900) – Sean Newcomb has been great so far this season and after his solid 55 point performance against the Mets in his last outing (7.0 OP, 0 ER, 8 K’s), I’m pretty surprised to see his price tag still below the $8,000 range. Newcomb comes into this game with a 3.38 ERA and 1.27 WHIP and has an impressive K/9 ratio of 10.9. He is holding opponents to a .223 batting average this season and although Tampa Bay has hit well against LHP’s this season, I think Newcomb has some great value and high strikeout upside for this price.
C/1B – Gary Sanchez (NYY- $4,100) – Gary Sanchez and the New York Yankees are playing some great baseball as of late and although I hope that stops against my Red Sox tonight, it’s hard not get Gary Sanchez in your DFS lineups today with his matchup against Drew Pomeranz of the Red Sox. Sanchez is hitting just .198 on the season however he still has 9 HR’s, 28 RBI’s, and 22 runs scored. Pomeranz has struggled so far this season and can give up HR’s as he comes into this matchup with a 1.84 HR/9 ratio. Sanchez is hitting .280 against LHP on the season and is 7 for 18 (.389 average) with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s against Pomeranz.
2B – Scooter Gennett (CIN- $2,800) – Gennett and the Cincinnati Reds have the best matchup of the night in my opinion as they are going against the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets who comes into this game with a 16.2 ERA and 5.4 HR/9 ratio in his two starts of the season. Gennett has had a decent year as he is hitting .289 with 3 HR’s and 16 RBI’s and had a nice 31.4 point performance last night. Vargas is allowing LHB’s to hit .385 against him on the season and as Gennett is swinging a hot bat as he is 3 for last 8 with 2 doubles and a home run, I think has nice value tonight.
3B – Eugenio Suarez (CIN- $3,900) – I’m sticking in Cincinnati for my 3B tonight, going with the Reds Eugenio Suarez, who has been playing great since coming off the DL as he is hitting .290 with 5 HR’s and 21 RBI’s in just 19 games played this season. Suarez has that nice matchup against Jason Vargas who is allowing RHB’s to hit an incredible .484 against him on the season. Suarez has been hot as of late as he went 2 for 4 last night with a double and HR and has 3 HR’s over the past week.
SS – Manny Machado (BAL - $4,300) – Manny Machado has been the one bright spot for the Orioles this season as the star shortstop is hitting .346 on the season with 9 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Machado has a nice matchup against Danny Duffy who has a 5.63 ERA and has already allowed 9 HR’s to RHB’s on the season. Machado is hitting .392 at Camden Yards this season and as he has a .310 average with 3 HR’s in just 29 AB’s against LHP on the season, I like Machado despite his troubles against Duffy in the past.
OF – Adam Duvall (CIN - $2,800) – Adam Duvall is my “Long Ball Lock” of the day and the third Cincinnati Reds player I’m getting my line up tonight as they have that great matchup against Jason Vargas. As I’ve mentioned, Vargas has really struggled this season and has already given up 5 HR’s in just 8.1 innings pitch. Duvall is a “Boom or Bust” pick as you generally need to rely on him getting HR’s to put a decent DFS day, however I like him tonight as the matchup just doesn’t get much better.
OF – Aaron Altherr (PHI - $2,400) – Aaron Altherr had a real tough start to his season as he was hitting under .100 for a time period, however, the powerful OF for the Phillies has played better as of late, raising his average to over .200 and comes into tonight’s game with 3 HR’s and 18 RBI’s. Altherr had 8 HR’s in just 109 AB’s last season and as he has a decent matchup against the LHP Derek Holland of the Giants tonight, I like Altherr HR upside for this reasonable price.
OF – Joey Gallo (TEX - $3,500) – Joey Gallo might strikeout a lot but you have to love the DFS guy that is swinging for the fences every time he is up at bat. Gallo will never hit for a big average however, there is no denying his power as Gallo enters today with 12 HR’s and 25 RBI’s on the season. Gallo has hit 4 HR’s over the past week and has a nice matchup tonight against Mike Fiers of the Detroit Tigers who comes into this game with a 5.00 ERA and 2.0 HR/9 ratio.
Utility – Nomar Mazara (TEX - $3,100) – Similar to Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara has been crushing the ball as of late and I’m going to once against, try to exploit his matchup against Mike Fiers of the Tigers who is allowing LHB to have a .298 average and .944 OPS against him. Mazara is hitting .287 on the season with 8 HR’s and 24 RBI’s and is hitting .296 with 5 HR’s and 10 RBI’s over the past week. Mazara was 2 fo3 last night with a HR and I don’t see why his recent streak of solid play can’t continue tonight against Fiers.
Have a great Tuesday everyone and Good Luck this tonight!
