Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/10/18
Update: It was just released that Wilmer Difo isn't geting the start tonight so to replace him we're going to go with Jonathan Schoop of the Baltimore Orioles as he is the same price at $2,900. Schoop has HR upside and although Ian Kennedy has pitched well this season, this is the same pitcher that has given up 30+ HR's in each of his last three seasons. With the win blowing out at the hitters friendy Camden Yards, I think Schoop is a solid replacement and we'll home he can take Kennedy deep tongiht. Good Luck!
It’s Thursday May 10th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.
Yesterday Recap: It was the 3rd consecutive day in which we had to sweat out our 50/50’s and although I didn’t win on all of them last night, I did hit on enough to break even for the night. Last night’s team put up 126.3 points and that was somewhat disappointing as our “low-cost” pitchers and hitters actually did the most damage for us. Nick Pivetta (5.0 IP, 0 ER, 7 K’s, Win) got us 42 points and Lucas Duda and Jonathan Schoop combined for an impressive 41.1 points. Our “high-cost” hitters in Mike Moustakas (0 Points) and Manny Machado (6.2 points) did very little and our Arizona stack of Goldschmidt, Pollock, and Souza Jr. didn’t do anything extraordinary as they combined for just 25 points.
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Walker Buehler (LAD- $8,600) – I’m going with the outstanding Dodgers rookie tonight as he is coming a great performance that led for a combined no-hitter for the Dodgers and currently is sporting an impressive 1.13 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Buehler went 6 innings, striking 8, in his efforts in the no hitter and has been solid in terms of strikeouts during this three starts as he has a 10.69 K/9 ratio. Buehler is holding his opponents to just a .179 average on the season and gets a Cincinnati Reds team that ranks just 16th in MLB in team average and just struggled yesterday afternoon against Zack Wheeler of the Mets.
C/1B – Lucas Duda (KC - $2,500) – Duda was our best offensive player last night (generally not a great sign of success), however, I’m going right back to him as he has one of the best matchups against Chris Tillman of the Orioles who comes into this matchup with a 9.24 ERA< 2.05 WHIP, and 1.78 HR/9 ratio. Duda has a ton of power and comes into this game with 4 HR’s and 18 RBI’s on the season. Duda has a .289 average and .804 OPS against RHP on the season and as Tillman is allowing LHB’s to hit .417 against him, Duda and the other Kansas City LHB’s are a solid play today.
2B – Wilmer Difo (WAS- $2,700) – I had change gears when I was initially putting together a lineup today once it’s was released last yesterday that the right-handed Kris Medlen was getting the start and that started with getting the switch-hitting Wilmer Difo in my lineup. Difo is having a decent season with the Nationals as he is hitting .278 with 2 HR’s and 12 RBI’s and has at least 1 hit in 10 of his 11 games played. Medlen was rocked in his first start last week against Houston as he lasted just 4 innings while giving up 9 hits and 7 ER’s. Difo has done all his damage this season as a LHB and comes in with a .299 average and .825 OPS from the left side of the plate and it’s hard not to love the Nationals matchup tonight at the hitters friendly Chase Field.
3B – Matt Carpenter (STL- $2,700) – It’s been a tough season for Carpenter who comes into this game with just a .152 average on the season with 3 HR’s and 13 RBI’s however, for just $2,700, you have to like his matchup against the RHP Jordan Lyles of the San Diego Padres. Carpenter might not be the player he was a few years ago, but does have a career .273 average and he is too good of a hitter to be this far below the Mendoza line. Lyles has been primarily used out of the bullpen this season and comes into this game with a career ERA of 5.38 and is allowing LHB’s this season to have a .838 OPS against him. Carpenter has done all his damage this season against RHP’s and as .909 OPS against RHP over his past three seasons, I like the value that Carpenter has tonight which will allow me to spend up on some big bats in my OF.
SS – Orlando Arcia (MIL - $3,000) – Orlando Arcia hasn’t been the player the Brewers were hoping he would become after a decent season last year, however, Arcia has to be looked at tonight in a nice matchup in the thin-air of Colorado against German Marquez. Arcia is hitting just .212 on the season with 2 HR’s and 9 RBI’s, however, he does have enough power to get us HR’s, especially in Colorado. Marquez has been awful at home this season as in his three starts, he has posted a 10.64 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .333 against him. Arcia has actually hit better against RHP’s this season (.244 average, .633 OPS) and for $3,000 he has nice value especially considering he did have a HR at Coors Field last season.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton (NYY - $4,900) – With all the value plays in the infield, I’m able to spend up for Giancarlo Stanton tonight who has been heating up as of late and showing why the Yankees paid him so much money. Stanton is hitting just .237 on the season however does have 9 HR’s on the season with 23 RBI’s and is 3 for 7 with 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s in against the Red Sox in their current series. Stanton is up against Eduardo Rodriguez of the Red Sox who had a 5.29 ERA and 1.67 HR/9 ratio and as he is hitting .400 with 6 of his 9 HR’s against LHP, I like Stanton to continue his solid series against the Red Sox tonight.
OF – Bryce Harper (WAS- $4,800) – Bryce Harper got the night off yesterday, probably due to the fact that he was 0-16 in his previous four games, however, I have no hesitation in getting Bryce Harper in my lineup tonight against the RHP Kris Medlen of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Harper is hitting just .230 on the season however, he still has shown some great power as he has 12 HR’s and 28 RBI’s on the season. Harper has a 1.107 OPS against RHP’s on the season with 10 of his 12 HR’s and as he has had success at Chase Field (.313 average/1.092 OPS) over his past three seasons, I’m hoping for Harper to have a multi-HR night on Thursday.
OF – Max Kepler (MIN - $2,400) – I needed to go with some value at my last OF spot and I’m hoping for a good night from the Twins, Max Kepler. Kepler has had a decent season for the Twins as he is currently hitting .274 with 4 HR’s and 13 RBI’s. Kepler looked good in the Twins recent 2-game series against the Cardinals as he went 3 for 9 in that series with 2 doubles. Kepler has hit 36 HR’s in his last 2 seasons so he certainly have the power to get us a HR and has always fared well against the Angels as he has a career .342 average against Los Angeles.
Utility – Yangervis Solarte (TOR- $3,200) – Yangervis Solarte is having a great first season with the Blue Jays as the 4-year veteran is currently hitting .271 on the season with 9 HR’s and 23 RBI’s. Solarte has been on fire as of late as he has a .393 average with 2 HR’s in the past week and has a nice matchup against the RHP Mike Leake of the Seattle Mariners on Thursday who comes into this game with a 6.28 ERA. Solarte is hitting .287 with 5 of his 9 HR’s against RHP and as between the fact that Leake is allowing LHB’s to hit .297 and that Solarte is 3 for 6 lifetime against Leake, I think Solarte has some great value today at $3,200.
Have a great Thursday everyone and Good Luck this tonight!
