Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/11/18

Update (6:34 pm) - Howie Kendrick is not getting the start tonight so I'm changing a few things around. I'm replacing Kendrick with Ozzie Albies (ATL). To be able to afford this I'm taking Trea Turner out and replacing him with Scott Kingery (PHI) and also replacing Puig with Aaron Altherr (PHI). I've updated the image with my current lineup.

Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup - 5/11/18

It’s Friday May 11th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.

As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!

If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.

Yesterday Recap: Our 3-day winning streak at hitting the 50/50’s came to end yesterday as our offesne had a real disappointing day at the plate which led to our squad getting just 89.2 points. Max Kepler was our only hitter who got us double-digit points as he had a HR and finished with 21.7 points. Bryce Harper and Giancarlo Stanton were disappointing as they only combined for 6 total points and our value plays with Matt Carpenter (0 points), Orlando Arcia (3 points), and Yangervis Solarte (3) couldn’t produce in solid matchups. Walker Buehler had another decent outing for the Dodgers as although he didn’t pick up the win, he ended his day with 40 points after going 6 innings, giving up 2 runs while striking out 8.

Here is my current lineup for today:

P – Justin Verlander (HOU- $11,300) – Justin Verlander has been outstanding this season as he comes into his matchup with the Rangers on the Friday with a 4-1 record while sporting a 1.17 ERA and 0.71 WHIP. Verlander has been great piling up strikeouts this season as he currently has an 11.74 K/9 ratio and has recorded at least 9 K’s in 5 of his 8 starts this season. Verlander has a nice matchup against the Texas Rangers in which he is holding the current Rangers roster to just a .205 average (42-205) while striking them out 35% of the time. Texas currently ranks next to last in MLB in strikeout rate and as I just don’t see them having much success in this one, I think Verlander can put up another big game like he did against the Yankees a couple of starts ago.

C/1B – Yonder Alonso (CLE - $2,600) – Yonder Alonso is only hitting .218 on the season however, the Cleveland Indian first-baseman has showed his great power and currently has 8 HR’s on the season with 21 RBI’s. Alonso will be up against the RHP Jason Hammel of the Kansas City Royals this season and has hit RHP much better as he has an.730 OPS against them. Alonso has a career .333 average against Hammel and as Hammel certainly doesn’t have overpowering stuff, I think Alonso has some nice value today with HR upside.

2B – Howie Kendrick (WAS- $3,200) – Howie Kendrick has done a nice job filling in at 2B with Daniel Murphy still on the DL and comes into this game with a .291 average with 4 HR’s and 11  RBI’s. Kedrick has a decent matchup against Matt Koch of the Diamondbacks who although has pitched well since replacing Taijuan Walker in the rotation, Koch has given up a HR in 3 of his 4 starts this season. Kendrick has fared better against RHP this season, hitting .312 with a .848 OPS against them, and as the conditions at Chase Field will heavily favor the hitters with the wind blowing out to right-field at a 24 mph rate, I like Kendrick and some of the other Nationals tonight.

3B – Zack Cozart (LAA- $3,200) –  Zack Cozart didn’t have the start to his Angels career as I’m sure he and the Angels wanted, however, Cozart is starting to show that form that made him an All-Star last season as over the past week he is hitting .389 with 4 doubles and 2 HR’s. Cozart has a nice matchup against Lance Lynn of the Minnesota Twins who comes into this game with a 7.28 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .297 against him on the season. Cozart has plenty experience against Lynn in his career and although he doesn’t have the greatest average against him, he does have HR’s and is a nice value play today at just $3,200.

SS – Trea Turner (WAS - $3,800) – Trea Turner comes into this game with a .273 average with 3 HR’s and 13 RBI’s however, the talented shortstop of the Nationals has played better as of late as over the past two weeks, he is hitting .286 with a solid .856 OPS. Turner has enough power to hit HR’s but is a great fantasy asset with his ability to run wild on the base paths. Turner has 12 SB’s on the season and has the green light to run whenever he wants. Turner will up against the RHP Matt Koch of the Diamondbacks and has a .299 average and .834 OPS with all 3 of his HR’s against RHP on the season.

OF – Herman Perez (MIL - $3,000) – Herman Perez is not an everyday player for the Brewers however, I expect Perez to be in the lineup today and has some nice value playing at Coors field for just a $3,000 price. Perez is hitting just .229 on the season, however does have 3 HR’s in 70 AB’s will be up against Chad Bettis of the Rockies who he is 5 for 9 against in his career. Perez has always hit well at Coors Field and has a .407 average and 1.023 OPS at Coors Field over his last three seasons.

OF – Marcell Ozuna (STL- $2,800) –  Marcell Ozuna has brought the power numbers that the Cardinals were hoping for when they signed him in the offseason, however, as his price is now below $3,000, Ozuna have some nice value in good matchups like the one has tonight against the LHP Eric Lauer of the Padres. Ozuna only has 2 HR’s on the season, but he is a streaky hitter that is capable of big games and should have the opportunity for nice game tonight the Padres Lauer comes into this game with a 5.79 ERA and is allowing RHB’s to hit .333 against him. Ozuna has always hit LHB’s well and as he has a .308 average and .869 OPS against lefties over his past three seasons, I’ve really like his value tonight.

OF – Yasiel Puig (LAD - $2,700) – Yasiel Puig recently came off the DL and although struggled last night, has an encouraging performance on Wednesday going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Puig is hitting just .208 on the season and has yet to hit a HR, however, as we needed to find value today as we went with Verlander, you have to like Puig and the Dodgers tonight going against Matt Harvey of the Reds who Puig is 3 for 5 against in his career. Puig has hit for double-digit HR’s in every season as a MLB player, with a career high 28 HR’s last season, and as it’s just a matter of time until he gets on the board this season, I think he a nice play against Harvey.

Utility – Joc Pederson (LAD- $2,400) – With just $2,400 left in salary, I’m going with another Dodger who has HR upside however has struggled this season putting  baseball in the bleachers in Joc Pederson. This pick is solely matchup based as Matt Harvey has been awful against LHB’s this season, allowing them to post a .315 average, .648 slugging percentage, and 1.03 OPS against him. Pederson has fared better against RHP’s on the season, posting a .279 average and .858 OPS against him and as he is 2 for 5 lifetime against Harvey with a HR, I think he is real bargain tonight at just $2,400.

Have a great Friday everyone and Good Luck this tonight!
