Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/12/18
Update (6:03 PM) - With the late scratch of Chase Anderson for Milwaukee, I've decided to switch my lineup around to get some Colorado RHB's in the lineup aginst the LHP Brent Suter who currently has a 4.86 ERA and is allowing LHB's to hit .307 against him on the seaosn.
For my pitching, to open up some salary I replaced Charlie Morton with Tyson Ross who had some good strikeout upside and has been great agianst RHB's. With the extra salary, I now have D.J. LeMahieu (2B), Nolan Arenado (3B) and Noel Cuevas (OF) who have great stats against LHB's and took out Scotter Gennett (2B), Eduardo Escobar (3B), and Eddie Rosiaro (OF). This allowed me to keep Bellinger and Taylor in with their solid matchup agianst Homer Bailey and my Pittsburgh LHB's against Jeff Samardzija. Good Luck tonight and I've updated the image below with my current lineup.
It’s Saturday May 12th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.
Yesterday Recap: Got back on track yesterday as our team had a 157.80-point performance which allowed me to cash in my 50/50’s. We got a few good performances from out value picks in Yonder Alonso (27.9 points) and Marcell Ozuna (31.1 points). We had to switch out Trea Turner to replace Howie Kendrick once we found out that he wasn’t starting, but we luckily put in Ozzie Albies who had a nice 30.9-point performance. Justin Verlander was somewhat of a disappointment after getting us just 40 points and we didn’t get much from Aaron Altherr (3 points), Scott Kingery (6 points), Zack Cozart (3.5 points), and Joc Pederson (0 points).
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Charlie Morton (HOU - $9,300) – Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander get a lot of attention for the starts they have had for Houston, however, it’s important not to overlook Charlie Morton who comes into this game with a 4-0 record with a 2.16 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Morton has some nice stuff which includes a high-velocity fastball and currently has a 10.4 K/9 ratio. Morton has struck out 20 of 48 (42%) of the current Rangers roster that he has faced and between the fact Morton is holding opponents to a .177 average and that the Rangers rank 29th in strikeout rate, I like Morton at his $9,300 price.
C/1B – Cody Bellinger (LAD - $3,300) – Cody Bellinger isn’t having a great season with the Dodgers as he is hitting just .273 on the season with 4 HR’s and 17 RBI’s and has been benched for a “lack of hustle” however, you must like the slugging first baseman tonight in his matchup against Homer Bailey. Bailey has really struggled this season as he has a 5.61 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 2.28 HR/9 ratio. Bellinger is hitting .304 with a .867 OPS against RHP on the season and as he has 3 of his 4 HR’s at Dodger stadium this season.
2B – Scooter Gennett (CIN - $3,500) – Scooter Gennett is one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now as over his past 4 games, Gennett is 10 for 17 with four homeruns and 10 RBI’s which included a solid 4 for 5 performance last night with a HR. Gennett is hitting .458 over the past week and now is hitting .319 on the season with 6 HR’s and 24 RBI’s. Gennett has a decent matchup agianst Ross Stripling of the Dodgers in a game in which has some nice potential to be high-scoring.
3B – Eduardo Escobar (MIN - $3,800) – The switch-hitting Eduardo Escobar has been great this season for the Twins as he comes into this matchup with a .295 average with 7 HR’s and 20 RBI’s. Escobar was on a tear at the end of April and although he has slowed down a bit as of late, he still comes into this game hitting .290 with a .920 OPS agianst RHP. Escobar will be up against the RHP Nick Tropeano who although he pitched well in his last start against Baltimore, struggled in his previous two starts giving up a combined 9 ER’s. Escobar has 5 of his 7 HR’s against RHP on the season and is worth the price as he has an impressive .333 average on the road.
SS – Chris Taylor (LAD - $3,600) – I’m going back to Dodgers Stadium to exploit the Homer Bailey matchup and hoping that Chris Taylor can have a big night agianst the Reds RHP. Taylor is hitting just .230 on the season, however, he does have 5 HR’s and has the ability/power to have a big game. Taylor has hit better at home this season as he has a .253 average with a .861 OPS at Dodgers Stadium and as Bailey has given up 9 HR’s over his last 4 games, I like going with Taylor tonight.
OF – Gregory Polanco (PIT - $3,500) – Gregory Polanco is hitting just .224 on the season, however, he has been playing better as of late as it wasn’t that long ago he was below .200 and saw his price dip below $3,000. Polanco is hitting .316 over the past week and .303 in the month of May. Polanco has some nice power as he has 7 HR’s on the season and certainly has some speed to get us SB if the game situation calls for it. Polanco and the other Pittsburgh LHB’s have a nice matchup on Saturday as they are up against the RHP Jeff Samardzija who is allowing LHB’s to hit .400 against him on the season.
OF – Eddie Rosario (MIN - $3,600) – Eddie Rosario has been incredible in the month of May and is currently hitting .289 on the season with 9 HR’s and 27 RBI’s on the season. Rosario is hitting .444 over the past week with 4 HR’s and 10 RBI’s which included an impressive 2 for 4 performance with 2 HR’s last night. Rosario is hitting .298 on the season with a .911 OPS agianst RHB’s on the season and as Nick Tropeano is allowing LHB’s to hit .282 on the season, I’m grabbing Rosario before his price goes up even higher.
OF – Adam Frazier (PIT - $2,200) – Needed some value with my last OF spot and decided to go with Adam Frazier with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Frazier had the night off yesterday however, has been playing regularly and has been hitting at the top of the Pittsburgh lineup. Frazier is hitting .242 on the season with 2 HR’s but I like taking a chance with him with his matchup agianst Jeff Samardzija of the Giants who we already mentioned is allowing LHB’s to hit .400 against him on the season.
Utility – Jose Pirela (SD- $2,200) – With only $2,200 left, I needed to find some more value for my Utility sport and settled on Jose Pirela of the Padres. Pirela is hitting just .272 on the season however, has had a hot bat as of late as he is hitting .400 over the past week. Pirela is hitting .314 in the month of May and although he doesn’t have a HR this season, does have the ability to hit HR’s as he had double-digit HR’s last season. Pirela will be up against Michael Wacha who had struggled more against RHP on the season allowing them to hit .282 average and .838 OPS.
Have a great Saturday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
