Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup - 5/13/18

As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!

If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.

Yesterday Recap: As I’m writing this article the night before, our team has yet to finished for the Saturday’s 7:05 Main Slate however, we’re going to need some help to hit our 50/50’s tonight as we currently have 123.20 points. We’ve gotten some nice games from Cody Bellinger and Gregory Polanco however, haven’t gotten much elsewhere and our value plays of Adam Frazier and Jose Pirela have really struggled giving us no points as of yet.

As we’ve had a good week however, I’ve decided that I’m going to put more a tournament lineup in tomorrow which means I’m trying to target more low percentage plays who I think could have a decent day. If you plan on playing the 50/50’s I would more mix and match for out “high-cost/low-cost” article that was posted earlier tonight.

Here is my current lineup for today:

P – Dylan Bundy  (BAL - $9,300) – Dylan Bundy is coming off one of the worst starts any MLB pitcher has made in recent memory, as he gave up 4 HR’s agianst the Royals and was taken out before recording a single out. At the same time, this is the same pitcher that is probably the ace of the Orioles staff and hit 40+ points in 4 of his first 5 starts of the season. Bundy has strikeout upside as he has a 10.6 K/9 on the season and has done well against RHB’s as he is holding them to just a .221 average. Tampa Bay’s offense has struggled over the past few games and as Bundy will be low-owned, I think he had some great value at just $7,900.

C/1B – Yuli Gurriel (HOU - $3,200) –  Yuli Gurriel hasn’t produced as the Astros had hoped to begin his 2018 season as he comes into this matchup with just a .273 average with 1 HR and 13 RBI’s. I’m going with Gurriel largely due to his matchup agianst Matt Moore of the Texas Rangers who currently has a 7.71 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. Gurriel has a ton of power and can take any pitch out of the park and as Moore has given up 15 ER’s over his last two starts, I expect Houston offense to put up some big numbers tomorrow.

2B – Starlin Castro (MIA - $2,800) – Starling Castro hasn’t been anything spectacular in his first season with Miami, however, the Marlins second-baseman has been solid as he comes into this game with a .293 average with 2 HR’s and 18 RBI’s. Castro had a nice night tonight as he went 2 for 4 and has started to find his power as both his HR’s have come in recent games. Castro has a touch matchup against the up and coming Sean Newcomb of the Braves, however, I think Castro has some value tomorrow as he comes into this game hitting .385 with a .908 OPS agianst LHP on the season.

3B – Rafael Devers (BOS - $2,800) –  Rafael Devers and the Red Sox have one of the best matchups of the slate tomorrow as they are going up agianst the RHP Joe Biagini who in his two starts this season is sporting a 8.10 ERA and 2.00 WHIP. Devers is only hitting .264 on the season however, the rookie has shown some nice power with 6 HR’s and 24 RBI’s. Devers has played well as of late as over his last 4 game he is 5 for 13 and as he has a .784 OPS on the season against RHP, he is at good value tomorrow at just $2,800.

SS – Carlos Correa (HOU - $4,100) –  Carlos Correa is one of the best in the business at the shortstop position and you must love his matchup agianst Matt Moore tomorrow who we already mentioned has really struggled in his past two starts. Correa is currently hitting .292 on the season with 5 HR’s and 25 RBI’s and has more career HR’s agianst the Rangers than any other team. Correa is hitting .333 with a .916 OPS on the season vs. LHP and I don’t see why that can’t improve agianst Moore on Sunday.

OF – Mookie Betts (BOS - $4,900) –  There isn’t much you have to say about Mookie Betts to convince you why he is a good choice in your daily fantasy lineups but I will give you reasons anyway. Betts is currently hitting .356 with 13 HR’s on the season and has crushed RHP on the year as he has a 1.13 OPS with 7 HR’s. Betts and the Red Sox have a great matchup agianst Joe Biagini of the Blue Jays and Betts is 6 for 11 off Biagini in his career with 2 HR’s.

OF – Nelson Cruz (SEA - $3,700) –  Nelson Cruz is hitting just .250 on the season however, the veteran DH/OF still has power as even after missing games due to an ankle injury, Cruz still comes into this matchup with a 7 HR’s on the season. Cruz will be up agianst the LHP Blaine Hardy who will be making a spot start for the Tigers after very limited experience in their bullpen this season. Cruz generally hits LHP real hard as he has a .298 average and 1.00 OPS agianst lefties over his past three seasons.

OF – Andrew Benintendi (BOS - $3,600) – As I’m expected a big day for the Sox bats against Biagini, I’m going to spend up for Andrew Benintendi as I want another LHB going agianst the Toronto RHP. Benintendi has played well as of late as he went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s in today’s game and comes into this matchup on a 5-game hitting streak. Benintendi has a .822 OPS against RHP on the season and has he some good power and speed, I like him tomorrow especially as he bats near the top of the Red Sox batting order.

Utility – Evan Gattis (HOU- $2,000) – I only had $2,000 left in the budget however, I feel we could do a lot worse than Evan Gattis of the Houston Astros. Gattis has had a real tough season however, there is no denying his power and he is having a nice night on Saturday as he is currently 2 for 3 with a HR. Gattis has a great matchup agianst Matt Moore of the Rangers on Sunday and as he has some great HR upside, I’ll take a change with Gattis for just $2,000.

Have a great Sunday everyone and Good Luck this afternoon!
