Pitchers

High Cost:

Carlos Carrasco (Cleveland Indians - $9,800) – I’m going to be going with Carrasco as my top “high-cost” pitcher today as the Indians right-hander is coming off one of his best starts of the season and has a nice matchup against the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Carrasco comes into matchup with a 3.61 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP and is coming off an impressive 73 FanDuel point performance after pitching a complete game with 14 K’s against the Brewers this past Wednesday. Carrasco has one of the best sliders in the game and although the Tigers don’t strikeout a ton (rank 5th in MLB in strikeout rate), Carrasco does have a 9.11 K/9 and is always a threat for double-digit K’s. Carrasco has pitched well agianst Detroit in his career as he is holding the current Tigers lineup to just a .220 average (35-159) and as he threw a complete game with 6 K’s against Detroit earlier in the season, I think he is the best “high-cost” option on Monday.

Low Cost:

Tyler Anderson (Colorado Rockies -$6,900) – I think you must look at Tyler Anderson as your “low-cost” option on Monday as the Rockies will be away from Coors Field and have a nice matchup against the strikeout prone, San Diego Padres. Anderson has been up  and down this season but has a respectable 4.23 ERA on the season with a 1.33 WHIP. Anderson has a solid K/9 ratio of 9.39 and could pile up some K’s as the Padres rank dead last in strikeout rate as they average about 10 strikeouts per game. Anderson is holding opponents to just a .238 average this season and although he has given up 7 HR’s, he should be a bit more protected at Petco Park in which the wind will be blowing in tomorrow. Anderson has been successful in his two outings agianst the Padres this season and you must like this price as he has averaged 37 FanDuel points in those two starts this season.

Hitters

Catchers/1st base

High Cost:

Salvador Perez (Kansas City Royals - $3,500) – If you have already listen to my “Long Ball Lock” video for tomorrow, you know I like the Tampa Bay/Kansas City game as this game features two pitchers that have struggled this season and the wind will be blowing out to left-field. As I’m not completely sold on the real high priced 1B/C options, I’m going with Perez who enters this game with a .278 average with 5 HR’s and 7 RBI’s. Perez doesn’t have the greatest numbers against LHP, however, I like his matchup against Ryan Yarbrough who comes into this game coming his worst start of the season as he last just 5 innings, giving up 6 hits, 5 ER’s and a HR. Perez has hit 20+ HR’s in his last three seasons and as he .814 OPS at home this season, I like Perez as an option on Monday.

Low Cost:

Yonder Alonso (Cleveland Indians - $2,800) – Yonder Alonso price continues to stay below $3,000 which I’m more than happy with as the Indians 1B continues to perform the Indians. Alonso is hitting just .223 on the season but has showed off his power as he has 9 HR’s and 23 RBI’s on the season and has played well as of late as he has a .357 average over the past week. Alonso has one of the better matchups on the slate as he will be up agianst the RHP Mike Fiers who had a 4.73 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Fiers is allowing LHB to hit .310 against him on the season with a .954 OPS and I think the Indians will be a popular stack tomorrow.

2nd base

High Cost:

Brian Dozier – (Minnesota Twins -$3,700) – Brian Dozier just continues to do what he does as although he comes into this game with just a .255 average, he continues to show that he has some great power as he has 7 HR’s and 16 RBI’s. Dozier currently has a 5-game hitting streak and is currently hitting .333 with 2 HR’s over the past week. Dozier will be up against the LHP Wade LeBlanc tomorrow who although he comes in with a decent 3.18 ERA, he is allowing RHB’s to hit a decent .271 against him on the season. Dozier is hitting .304 on the season with a .929 OPS against LHP’s on the season and as he is seeing the ball well right now, I like his chances for a good game on Monday.

Low Cost:

Jason Kipnis – (Cleveland Indians -$2,700) – As I mentioned earlier, the Cleveland Indians stack should be a popular play on Monday and as Kipnis price as has dipped to this level with his early season struggles, he has some nice “low-cost” value at this price. Kipnis has really struggled as of late as he is just 1 for his last 26 and comes into this matchup with a .173 average with a HR and 13 RBI’s. Kipnis has that nice matchup against Fiers who has a couple of hits against in his career and as does have a .289 average and .836 OPS agianst RHP over his last three seasons, he is an option at 2B if you need to save some money.

Shortstop

High Cost:

Francisco Lindor - (Cleveland Indians - $4,700) – This is not the first Indians player I’ve mentioned, and it won’t be the last however, it’s hard to try and pay up for the Cleveland SS on Monday as he has been crushing the ball as of late. Lindor is currently hitting .321 on the season with 12 HR’s and 25 RBI’s and is hitting .500 (10 for 20) with 4 HR’s over the past week. Lindor hasn’t hit as well when it comes to average going agianst RHP’s, however still has a solid .283 average and .984 OPS against righties. Lindor has 9 HR’s in 106 AB’s against RHP’s on the season and as Fiers has struggled giving up HR’s on the season, it will be worth paying up for Lindor tonight.

Low Cost:

Adeiny Hechavarria (Tampa Bay Rays - $2,400) –  Not a bunch options when it comes to value for the SS, however, I’m going to take a chance with Adeiny Hechavarria of the Tampa Bay Rays. Hechavarria is hitting .261 on the season with 2 HR’s and 13 RBI’s and has collected hits in 3 of his last 4 games. Hechavarria has a nice matchup agianst the LHP Eric Skoglund of the Royals on Monday who comes into this matchup with a 6.34 ERA. Hechavarria has been great against LHP on the season as he has a .333 average (13 for 39) and .705 OPS against LHP.

3rd Base

High Cost:

Jose Ramirez (Cleveland Indians - $4,200) – Jose Ramirez had a slow start to his season however, has really picked up over the past few weeks and currently comes into this game with a .287 average with 12 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Ramirez has had a nice month of May as so far, he is hitting .310 with 4 HR’s and 8 RBI’s for the month. Ramirez has a good matchup against the RHP Mike Fiers of the Detroit Tigers and currently has a .357 average and 1.096 OPS against Detroit in his past three seasons. Ramirez hasn’t hit as well in terms of average against RHP on the season, however, you must like the fact that he has 9 HR’s in just 99 AB’s against RHP on the season.

Low Cost:

Christian Villanueva (San Diego Padres - $2,800) – Christian Villanueva is in the midst of a major slump right now as he is just 1 for 37 so far in the month of May, however, with his price dropping to this point and the fact that he is going up against LHP on Monday, I think Villanueva has come “low-cost” value on Monday. With his recent struggles, Villanueva’s average is down to just a .226 mark on the season, however, he still has shown some nice power as he has 9 HR’s and 20 RBI’s on the season. Villanueva still has hit LHP’s real hard this season as he currently has a .368 average (14 for 38) against them and 8 of his 9 HR’s have been against LHP’s, Villanueva is certainly an option if you need to save some salary at 3B.

Outfielders

High Cost:

Mookie Betts (Boston Red Sox -$5,000) – Mookie Betts is putting up MVP numbers so far this season and comes into this game with a .360 average with 13 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Betts has a tough matchup against Oakland’s Sean Manaea who no-hit the Red Sox earlier this season, however, Betts has had some success against Manaea in his career as he is 4 for 11 (.364 average/1.508 OPS) with 2 HR’s against the left-hander in his career. Betts is hitting .375 in the past week, .381 in the month of May and has been great against LHP’s this season as he has a .378 average with 6 HR’s in just 37 AB’s.

Jorge Soler (Kansas City Royals - $3,800) – Jorge Soler has made the most of his opportunity so far with the Royals as the powerful OF comes into this matchup with a .323 ERA with 5 HR’s and 18 RBI’s. Soler has been on fire as of late as over the past week he has a .480 average (12 for 25) with a HR and 6 RBI’s. Soler will be up against LHP Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays and is hitting .390 with a 1.23 OPS against LHP on the season. The wind will be blowing out to LF at Kauffman Stadium and as I Soler is swinging the bat well, I like his chances for a HR on Monday.

Also Considered - Michael Brantley (Cleveland Indians - $3,700)

Low Cost:

David Peralta (Arizona Diamondbacks - $3,000) – I’m actually surprised that Peralta is priced this low as he has had a nice season with the Diamondbacks and comes into this matchup with a .303 batting average with 7 HR’s and 21 RBI’s. Peralta bats at the top of the Arizona lineup which we like and has hit well over the past week as he has a .318 average with a HR. Peralta is up against the RHP Junior Guerra of the Milwaukee Brewers who although has had success against Peralta in his career, has struggled more against LHB’s on the season. Peralta is hitting .326 with a .998 OPS against RHP’s on the season and is already 1 for 2 with a triple in his game tonight against the Nationals.

Byron Buxton (Minnesota Twins - $2,400) – Byron Buxton recently came off the DL and although he has struggled a bit since returning, the Twins OF has a bunch of talent and could be a “low-cost” value on Monday against the LHP Wade LeBlanc of the Seattle Mariners. Buxton was the top prospect in MLB a couple years back and although he has just a career .234 average, he flashed some of his potential during the 2nd half of last season. Buxton has had limited opportunities against LHP this season however, posted a .282 average with a .792 OPS against lefties last year and as he has power and speed, he is a good value at $2,400.

Also Considered: Ryan Braun (Milwaukee Brewers - $2,900)
