Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/14/18
Updated (6:37pm) - Hi Everyone! With some possible rainouts in the Sea/Min & TB/KC games, I'm going to adjust my lineup just to be on the safe side as their is nothing worse than having people not go due to a rainout. I'm really going to end up stacking Cleveland and Arizona hitters tonight as I had to replace 4 players. Basically, I've added Brantley (CLE) to my outfield and with going with John Ryan Murphy, who has shown some good power in limited AB's this season for you $2,000, I was able to add Scooter Gennett (has been on fire as of late) and A.J. Pollock. I've updated the picture with my new lineup! Have a good one.
It’s Monday May 14th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for today’s main slate (7:05 EST) for today’s MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page! I also provide a “High Cost / Low Cost” article that will give you some additional options at each position.
Yesterday Recap: Went with more a “Tournament” lineup to finished off last week and it paid off as our team scored a solid 167.1 points on the Sunday and in the GPP Tournament I played, I finished 266th out of 2,941. We got a solid bounce back performance from Dylan Bundy (who was just 2.5% owned in my Tournament) as he put up a stat line of 7 IP, 0 ER, 7 K,QS, and a Win for an impressive 52-point FanDuel performance. Our Houston stack of Gurriel, Correra, and Gattis paid off as they combined for 63.3 points and we also good day from Andrew Benintendi and Mookie Betts who combined for 42.6 points. Rafael Devers (0 points) and Nelson Cruz (3 points) disappointed us a bit in solid matchups however, we can’t upset with yesterday’s results and will hope to ride this momentum into Monday!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Tyler Anderson (COL - $6,900) – I’m going with value today at with my pitcher as I think Tyler Anderson brings some great upside at an outstanding price that will allow you to stock up on some decent hitters. Anderson has a 4.23 RA and 1.33 WHIP on the season, however, has pitched well considering you know that those numbers are a bit inflated due to having to pitch at Coors Field. Anderson has a solid 9.39 K/9 ratio and faces the Padres who rank dead last in Strikeout Rate, averaging about 10 strikeouts per game. Anderson is holding opponents to just a .238 average on the season and although he has given up some HR’s, he pitches at Petco Park with the wind blowing in tonight which should help him keep the ball in the park. Anderson had a 50+ point performance recently against the Cubs and as he has been solid on both outings against the Padres this season, I can see a 40-point night from Anderson.
C/1B – Yonder Alonso CLE - $2,800) – I’m surprised that Yonder Alonso is still costs only $2,800 as although the Indians 1B is hitting just .223 on the season, he has shown his power as he currently has 9 HR’s and 23 RBI’s. Alonso has been great as of late as over the past week he is hitting .357 and he had a nice matchup against the RHP Mike Fiers of the Detroit Tigers who had given up 5 HR’s over his last 3 starts. I think the Indians will be a popular stack play today and as Alonso has been batting 6th in the order when he starts, I think he’ll have a few opportunities with guys on scoring position to do some damage tonight.
2B – Brian Dozer (MIN - $3,700) – Brian Dozier is hitting just .255 on the season however, the 2nd baseman continues to show that he bring power to the top of the Minnesota batting order as he currently has 7 HR’s and 16 RBI’s on the season. Dozier is streaky hitter however, when he has it going, he can go on an absolute tear as he showed us towards the end of last season and as he is hitting .360 with 2 HR’s in the past week, I’m hoping this is the start of one of his hot streaks. Dozier has solid matchup on Monday going against the hittable LHP Wade LeBlanc of the Seattle Mariners and is hitting .304 with a .929 OPS against LHP on the season.
3B – Jose Ramirez (CLE - $4,200) – Jose Ramirez got off to a tough start for the Indians this season however, he has really turned it around quickly and currently is hitting .287 on the season with 12 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Ramirez is hitting .310 with 4 HR’s so far in the month of May and has the nice matchup against Mike Fiers who is allowing LHB’s to have a .310 average and .954 OPS against him on the season. Ramirez has been tough on Detroit recently as in his past three season he has a .357 average and 1.096 OPS against the Tigers. Ramirez isn’t hitting as well in terms of average as a LHB this season, however, has shown some great power from that side of the plate as he has 9 HR’s in 99 AB’s as a LHB on the season.
SS – Francisco Lindor (CLE - $4,700) – Francisco Lindor is playing at an MVP level at the moment as he is currently hitting .321 on the season with 12 HR’s and 25 RBI’s and has been on absolute fire as of late as over the past week he is hitting .500 (10 for 20) with 4 HR’s. The switch-hitting Lindor has been very similar to his teammate Jose Ramirez in terms of hitting as a LHB as although his average is better as a RHB, he has shown much more power as a LHB as he has 9 HR’s in just 106 AB’s as a LHB on the season. Lindor has the power/speed (5 SB’s) to put up a huge number for your team on any night and has a good opportunity to do some damage tonight against Mike Fiers.
OF – Byron Buxton (MIN - $2,400) – Byron Buxton is one of my value plays today as although Buxton has really struggled offensively this season and hasn’t looked great since he returned from the DL, this is a player that does have ability to put up big games as he has both power and speed. The former top prospect has been disappointing as an offensive player so far in his young career however, he did show some flashes of his potential towards the end of last season. Buxton did pick up his 1st hit since returning from the DL last night and I like him tonight as he actually was pretty solid against LHP (up against LHP Wade LeBlanc tonight) as last season he hit .282 with a .792 OPS against LHP.
OF – Jorge Soler (KC - $3,800) – Jorge Soler finally was able given a chance to play every day with the Royals and he has taken advantage of the opportunity as he currently is hitting .323 on the season with 5 HR’s and 18 RBI’s. Soler always had a ton of potential, especially when it came to power numbers, however, he seems to really have taken a step forward this season and has become more of a complete hitter. Soler has been playing well as of late as he has a .385 average with a HR over the past week and has a nice matchup against the LHP Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays tonight as he has a .390 average and 1.236 OPS against LHP on the season.
OF – David Peralta (ARI - $3,000) – I’m a bit surprised that David Peralta is just $3,000 as the Diamondbacks outfielder has had a nice season to date and comes into this matchup with a .303 batting average with 7 HR’s and 21 RBI’s on the year. Peralta is hitting .304 over the past week with a triple and HR and currently is on a 7-game hitting streak. Peralta will be up against the RHP Junior Guerra of the Brewers tonight and although he hasn’t had much individual success against Guerra in his career, I still like his chances for a solid game tonight as he is hitting .326 with a .998 OPS against RHP on the season.
Utility – C.J. Cron (TAM- $3,400) – C.J. Cron is my “Long Ball Lock” of the day and I needed to make sure I got him in my daily lineup as I like his matchup against the LHP Eric Skoglund of the Kansas City Royals on the Monday. Cron is hitting a solid .281 with 8 HR’s and 23 RBI’s on the season however, has really crushed LHP as he is hitting .381 with a 1.054 OPS against lefties on the season. The wind will be blowing out to left-field at Kauffman stadium tonight and as Skoglund has given up at least 1 HR in 5 of his last 6 starts, I like Cron to have a big day at the plate on Monday.
Have a great Monday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
