Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/20/18
Update(11:34 pm) - Gary Sanchez is now not getting the start. I've kept this one simple as I'm ok putting in Justin Smoak at the C/1B position in his matchup against Daniel Mengden. I've updated the lineup on the imagine below.
Update (11:27 pm) - Had to make some adjustments as Cabrera isn't getting the start tonight. I've upgraded my middle infielders and now will be going with Baez (CHC) and Turner (WAS) and put another to LHB from the Mets in with Brandon Nimmo who replaced Judge who I had to drop to open up some salary. Good Luck everyone.
It’s Sunday May 20th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for the “Main” slate (1:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Jordan Lyles (SDP - $6,900) – I’m going to be taking a chance on Jordan Lyles today and hope that he continue you his strong start as a starting pitcher for the Padres. Lyles comes in on the season with an impressive 2.53 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP and over his two starts this season has given up just 1 ER while striking out 16 over 12.1 IP. Lyles is holding his opponents to a .177 average on the season and although Pittsburgh isn’t a team that strikes out much, I think Lyles has the potential to go six innings while picking up 5-7 K’s while getting us a quality start and win.
C/1B – Gary Sanchez (NYY - $3,900) – I’m loading up on the heavy hitters from the Yankees today in their nice matchup against the Royals LHP Erick Skoglund who comes into this matchup with a 5.58 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Sanchez is hitting just .225 on the season however, has showed off his power this season as he currently has 12 HR’s and 33 RBI’s on the season. Sanchez has a .286 average, .657 Slugging Percentage, and a 1.047 OPS vs. LHP on the season and should be coming into this game with some confidence after an impressive 4 for 5 performance last night that included 2 HR’s, 1 2B, and 3 RBI’s.
2B – Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM - $3,600) – Asdrubal Cabrera is having a nice season as he is coming in with a .316 average with 6 HR’s and 24 RBI’s on the season and has one of the better matchups on the slate going against the RHP Clay Buchholz . Buchholz only pitched twice last season for the Phillies before an injury costed him his season, however, in the two starts he made last season it was pretty bad for Buchholz as he posted a 12.27 ERA and 2.59 WHIP. Cabrera is hitting .316 with 5 of his 6 HR’s against RHP’s on the season and is 8 for 16 with 2 HR’s against Buchholz in his career.
3B – Anthony Rendon (WAS - $3,600) – Anthony Rendon is hitting .255 on the season with 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s and although he is just 1 for 9 since returning from his injury, Rendon has a decent matchup against Alex Wood of the Dodgers on Sunday. Wood has struggled a bit against the Nationals in his career and Rendon has been a big part of that as he is 12 for 19 (.632 average) with a HR against the left-hander in his career. Rendon has a .286 average and .851 OPS against LHP on the season and as the veteran 3B is capable of going off for big games, I like Rendon at a somewhat reasonable price today.
SS – Scott Kingery (PHI - $2,100) – For the 2nd straight day, I’m going for value as the SS position and hoping that Scott Kingery can pay off for me against as he did yesterday. Kingery is hitting .219 on the season with 2 HR’s and 14 RBI’s however the Phillies SS has some great speed which he showed off yesterday with his triple. Kingery has actually been much better against RHP on the season as he has a .237 average and .660 OPS and although Flaherty has pitched well so far this season, he is allowing RHB’s to hit .280 against him on the year.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton (NYY - $5,000) – Giancarlo Stanton is hitting just .259 on the season however, has been on fire as of late as he is hitting .533 over the past week, and still has be providing the Yankees with the power they were hoping for as he currently has 11 HR’s and 27 RBI’s on the season. Stanton is almost a “must own” today as he is going up the very hittable LHP Erick Skoglund of the Royals. Stanton has been crushing LHP so far on the season as he is currently hitting .425 (17 for 40) and posting a ridiculous 1.517 OPS. Stanton is hitting .321 so far in the month of May and I think he’ll continue his dominance against LHP against Skoglund and Royals today.
OF – Aaron Judge (NYY - $4,900) – As I mentioned, I’m going big with the Yankees offense and that means I needed to find room to get Aaron Judge in my lineup. Judge is hitting just .133 over the past week however, still has had a nice season as he comes into this game with a .289 average with 11 HR’s and 35 RBI’s. Judge has a .851 OPS against LHP on the season and although his average isn’t great against LHP, Skoglund is allowing RHB’s to hit .267 against him on the season. Judge had a .297 average and 1.144 OPS during “day” games last season and as I like his chances to break out of his recent struggles this afternoon against the Royals.
OF – Michael Conforto (NYM - $2,800) – I’m trying to take advantage of the Mets matchup against the RHP Clay Buchholz of the Diamondbacks and think Conforto comes in with great value at just $2,800. Conforto is hitting .234 with 4 HR’s and 13 RBI’s and has been hitting well as of late as over the past week he has a .400 average with a HR. Over the past three seasons Buchholz is allowing LHB’s to hit .270 and post a .724 OPS against him. Conforto has HR upside and as he has hit much better against RHP’s this season, I like Conforto this afternoon.
Utility – Dustin Fowler (OAK - $2,200) – Dustin Fowler is starting to get regular playing time with the Oakland A’s and has showed some of his potential recently as he had an impressive 2 for 3 performance with a double, HR, and SB last Friday against the Blue Jays. Fowler was one of the main pieces that Oakland received in the Sonny Gray season last year and should continue to improve at the plate with the more experience he is getting. Fowler and Oakland have a nice matchup today against Joe Biagini of the Toronto Blue Jays who comes in with a 7.98 ERA and 1.84 WHIP. Biagini is allowing LHB’s to hit .317 against him on the season and as I think Fowler is better than his $2,200 price indicates, I think he has some great value today.
Have a great Sunday everyone and Good Luck this afternoon!
