Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/21/2018
Updated (5:26 PM) - Hi Everyone! Miguel Andujar isn't getting the start tonight so we had to switch some things around.
It’s Monday May 21st, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Jose Berrios (MIN - $8,400) – I’m going with Jose Berrios today as the talented right-hander for the Twins looked as if he is back on track with his recent dominant outing against the Cardinals as he went 7.1 innings, giving up just 1 ER while striking out 10. Berrios has some of the best stuff in the game and if his slider is on, can really pile up the strikeouts. Berrios has a respectable 8.44 K/9 ratio and although the Tigers rank just 5th in MLB team strikeout rate, they did strikeout 12 teams in their 3-2 loss against Seattle. Berrios is holding opponents to just a .206 average on the season and as he huge upside as he already has registered three 50+ point performances this season, I like Berrios at this price.
C/1B – Gary Sanchez (NYY - $4,300) – Gary Sanchez is hitting just .225 on the season however, his power numbers have still been there as the slugging catcher comes into this game with 12 HR’s and 33 RBI’s. Sanchez and the Yankees have a great matchup tonight against the RHP Bartolo Colon of the Rangers who has really struggled agianst the Yankees in his career and is allowing the current Yankees roster to post a .361 average, .722 slugging percentage, and a 1.109 OPS. Sanchez is coming off one of his best games of the season going 4 for 5 with a double and 2 HR’s this past Saturday against the Royals and as he is 3 for 8 lifetime with 2 doubles and HR against Colon in his career, I don’t know mind paying up for him tonight.
2B – Starlin Castro (MIA- $3,000) – Starling Castro is having a nice season for the Marlins as the veteran second baseman is hitting .291 on the season with 2 HR’s and 20 RBI’s however, the real reason why I’m targeting Castro tonight is that he is going up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets. Vargas has been rocked in his three starts so far this season and comes into this game with a 13.86 ERA, 2.68 WHIP and 3.65 HR/9. Vargas has really struggled agianst RHB’s this season as he is allowing them to post a .476 average (20-42) against him on the year. Castro has been great against LHP’s, posting a .324 average against them on the season, and as he is 3 for 8 with 3 doubles agianst Vargas in his career.
3B – Miguel Andujar (NYY - $2,700) – Miguel Andujar is starting to regain the form at the plate that we saw earlier this season and comes into his matchup against the Rangers with a .286 average with 4 HR’s and 16 RBI’s. Andujar has hits in 9 of his last 10 games including a 3 for 5 performance yesterday with a triple and HR. Andujar will be up against the right-handed Bartolo Colon of the Rangers who although has pitched well this season, has allowed RHB’s to hit .286 over his previous three seasons. Andujar has some nice power and as all his offensive damage has come against RHP’s this season as he has a .308 average with 4 HR’s and 15 RBI’s agianst them, I think Andujar has some of the best value on today’s slate.
SS – Miguel Rojas (MIA - $2,400) – As you can probably tell, I’m targeting a few Yankees and Marlins tonight and that trend continues with Miguel Rojas who has been a nice surprise for the Marlins this season. Rojas is hitting a respectable .264 but has shown some surprising power as he has 7 HR’s and 20 RBI’s on the season. Rojas has one of the best matchups of the day against Jason Vargas who has been hit hard by basically everybody on the season. Rojas was 4 for 9 with 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s in his recent series agianst the Braves and as I think his hot bat can continue against Vargas, I’ll take the value at just $2,400.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton (NYM - $5,100) – I’m really going to be stacking the power of the Yankees today agianst Colon and that includes Giancarlo Stanton who is starting to really hit the ball well for the Yankees as he comes into this game with a .263 average with 11 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Stanton is hitting .375 over the past week and is hitting .328 with 6 HR’s so far in the month of May. Stanton has a .311 average and 1.008 OPS on the road this season and as he is 6 for 16 (.375) average with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s agianst Colon on the season, I’m paying up for Stanton tonight.
OF – Aaron Judge (NYY - $5,000) – My Yankee stack wouldn’t be complete without Aaron Judge and as he is my “Long Ball Lock” of the day, I’m finding the salary to get him in on my lineup. Judge has struggled as of late, however, he is still hitting .282 on the season with 11 HR’s and 35 RBI’s. Judge has been crushing RHP’s on the season as he comes into this game with a .317 average, .600 slugging percentage, and a 1.024 OPS agianst righties. Colon has given up 7 HR’s so far this season against RHBs and as Judge is 2 for 4 with a HR against him on his career, I think Judge breaks out of slump in a big way tonight in Texas.
OF – Byron Buxton (MIN - $2,100) – With all the salary I’ve spend already, I needed to find some super value in my last two spots and I’m hoping to exploit Minnesota’s great matchup against the LHP Blaine Hardy of the Tigers by going with Byron Buxton. Buxton has been a disappointment for the Twins, but there is no denying that Buxton has the talent to be something special as he has great speed and ok power. Buxton is hitting just .164 on the season however, hit .282 with a .792 OPS against lefties last season, and as he was able to put up double-digit FanDuel points with a 1 for 3 performance with a double, run scored and a SB, I’m going to take a chance with him tonight.
Utility – Robbie Grossman (MIN - $2,000) – I’m sticking with what I hope will be some great value with Minnesota tonight and going with Robbie Grossman. Grossman has some nice patience at the plate and has that nice matchup agianst the LHP Blaine Hardy of the Tigers who had 2.25 HR/9 ratio and is allowing RHB’s to hit .300 against him. Grossman is hitting better on the season agianst left-handed pitchers (.269 average/.718 OPS) and as he has had some success against the Tigers in the past (3 HRs, 17 RBI’s over the past three seasons), I think he has decent value tonight.
Have a great Monday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
