Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/24/2018
Update (6:22 pm) - Hey Everyone! Got to make some changes with Jurickson Profar not getting the start tonight.
It’s Thursday May 24th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing today!!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Blake Snell (TB - $8,100) – Blake Snell comes into this game with a 5-3 record with an impressive 3.07 ERA and 1.04 WHIP and although he faces a tough lineup in the Boston Red Sox, I think Snell has the best value/upside on the board tonight. Snell has pitched well against the Red Sox in his two starts this season as he has given up just 2 ER’s in 13.0 IP. Snell has a solid 9.36 K/9 ratio and although the Red Sox don’t strikeout much, Snell was able to record 9 strikeouts in his latest outing against the Red Sox in late April. Snell has had 5 games of at least 46 points on the season and as he had an impressive 53-point outing against Boston last month, I’m going with the Rays let-hander tonight.
C/1B – Jesus Aguilar (MIL - $3,200) – Jesus Aguilar has taken great advantage of his extra playing time since Eric Thames went down with injury and currently is hitting .324 on the season with 7 HR’s and 23 RBI’s. Aguilar will be up against the LHP Steven Matz of the New York Mets tonight who has struggled with HR’s this season and has already given up 8 HR’s to RHB’s. Aguilar is hitting .308 with a .957 OPS against LHP on the season and has been on a tear over the past week as he has a .400 average (8 for 20) and 1.409 OPS to go along with 4 HR’s.
2B – Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM- $3,900) – Asdrubal Cabrera is having a solid season with the Mets as the switch-hitting second baseman comes into his matchup against the Brewers tonight with a .310 average with 7 HR’s and 27 RBI’s. Cabrera will be up against the right-handed Zach Davies of the Brewers who he is 5 for 9 (.556 average) lifetime against with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Cabrera has a .306 average with 5 of his 7 HR’s vs. RHP on the season and as he always seems to do well against the Brewers as he has posted a .333 average against Milwaukee over the past three seasons, I don’t mind paying up for Cabrera tonight.
3B – Mike Moustakas (KC - $3,800) – Mike Moustakas is in a little bit of a slump as of late but the slugging third-baseman for the Royals is still having a great season to date as he comes into his matchup against the Rangers with a .283 average with 10 HR’s and 31 RBI’s. Moustakas has one of the better matchups on tonight’s slate as he will be going against the RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx who will be making his first start of the season. In 24 games last year (6 starts) Bibens-Dirkx had a 4.67 ERA and gave up 14 HR’s in 69.1 IP. Moustakas is hitting .301 with 9 HR’s vs. RHP on the season and as Bibens-Dirkx allowed LHB’s to have a .803 OPS against him last season, I think Moustakas will be able to get out of his slump tonight.
SS – Jurickson Profar (TEX - $3,600) – Jurickson Profar is starting to play like the top-prospect he was as the Rangers SS is 4 for 11 over his last three games with 2 doubles, HR, and 6 RBI’s. The switch-hitting Profar is hitting .237 on the season with just 3 HR’s but has driven in 26 RBI’s. I like Profar tonight as he is hitting much better as a RHB, posting a .297 average and 1.004 OPS, and has a great matchup against Danny Duffy who comes into this game with a 6.88 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. Duffy is allowing RHB’s to have a .315 average and 1.005 OPS against him on the season and as Profar has hits in 5 of his last 6 games, I’ll take my chances on him tonight.
OF – Brandon Nimmo (NYM - $3,100) – Brandon Nimmo is hitting just .259 on the season with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s but with Yoenis Cespedes currently out of the lineup, Nimmo has been getting regular playing time at the top of the Mets batting order as of late. Nimmo went 2 for 3 last night with a HR and although Zach Davies has pitched well against LHB’s this year, Nimmo has been great against RHP, posting a .295 average, .557 slugging percentage, and 1.020 OPS. Nimmo has some great power as he showed last night with HR into the 2nd deck and as I expect Davies to start to struggle a bit more against LHB’s, I like Nimmo at this price tonight.
OF – Ryan Braun (MIL - $2,900) – Ryan Braun is having a tough year for the Brewers as the career .300 hitter is hitting just .222 on the season however, the veteran outfielder still has some pop in his bat as he comes into this game with 5 HR’s and 20 RBI’s. Braun has hit better against LHP on the season as he has posted a .865 OPS against lefties and generally hits LHP’s well as over his last three season he has a .312 average against them. Braun will be up against the LHP Steven Matz tonight who comes into this game with a 2.21 HR/9 ratio and as Braun is 2 for 5 lifetime against Matz with a double and HR, I think he has some nice value at his $2,900 price.
OF – Lorenzo Cain (MIL - $3,500) – Lorenzo Cain is having a great first season with the Brewers as the former Kansas City outfield currently is hitting .283 on the season with 6 HR’s, 15 RBI’s, and 10 SB. Cain is hitting .333 over the past week and has that nice matchup against Steven Matz of the Mets tonight. Cain has been crushing LHP on the season as he currently has a .400 average, .700 slugging percentage, and 1.178 OPS against them on the season. Cain should be well rested after getting yesterday afternoon off and should have plenty of confidence heading into this series against the Mets as he went 4 for 7 with a HR in his recent series against Arizona.
Utility – Isiah Kiner-Faiefa (TEX - $2,900) – With my remaining $2,900 salary, I decided to get another RHB in my lineup against Danny Duffy in the Rangers Isiah Kiner-Faiefa. Kiner-Faiefa has been a nice surprise for the Rangers this season and has put up decent numbers as he is hitting .260 on the season with 2 HR’s, 15 RBI’s, and 4 SB’s. As we’ve mentioned above, Danny Duffy has been absolutely crushed by RHB’s this season allowing them to have a .315 average against him on the season. Kiner-Faiefa is 4 for his last 7 with 3 BB, 3B, and 3 RBI’s and as he is hitting .303 with a .897 OPS over the past two weeks, I think he has some nice value tonight.
Have a great Thursday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
