Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/25/2018
It’s Friday May 25th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Jon Gray (COL - $7,000) – I’m going with value pitchers for the majority of the week and I’m not stopping tonight as I’m going to roll the dice with Rockies Jon Gray at home agianst the Reds. Gray comes into this game with just a 5.34 ERA and 1.40 WHIP however, he brings a bunch of upside into this matchup with his solid 10.19 K/9 ratio. Gray has been a bit unlucky as he has a .371 BABIP which I imagine we’ll see that number drop a bit over the course of the season. Gray has a solid fastball in the mid-90’s and showed his potential as over a 3-game stretch in late April/early May, he averaged 54 FanDuel points a start. Cincinnati ranks only 18th in MLB in batting average and if Gray has his stuff going tonight, he will be an absolute steal at $7,000.
C/1B – Marwin Gonzalez (HOU - $2,400) – If you didn’t think I was crazy by taking Jon Gray at home, I’m not helping my cause when you that I’m going with Marwin Gonzalez as a value play at the C/1B position who is up agianst Corey Kluber of the Indians tonight. The switch-hitting Gonzalez is hitting just .220 on the season however, does have 4 HR’s and 24 RBI’s. Gonzalez is hitting better as an LHB as he has all 4 of his HR’s as an LHB and I’m going with Gonzalez as he has posted a .471 average (8 for 17), .882 slugging percentage, and a 1.409 OPS with 2 HR’s agianst Kluber in his career.
2B – Whit Merrifield (KC $3,500) – Whit Merrifield comes into this game with a .286 average with 4 HR’s, 19 RBI’s, and 12 SB’s and you have to like his chances for a big game tonight as he is going against the LHP Mike Minor of the Texas Rangers. Merrifield has been crushing LHP on the season as he is currently posting a .435 average (27 of 62), .726 slugging percentage, and 1.204 OPS against them. All 4 of Merrifield’s HR’s have come against LHP and he even has 6 SB’s agianst lefties. Merrifield is hitting .313 so far in the month of May and as Mike Minor has given up at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 5 starts, I like the Royals to do some damage tonight in Texas.
3B – Justin Turner (LAD - $3,900) – Justin Turner recently came off the DL and although he has yet to hit a HR on the season, he doesn’t look rusty at the plate as he currently has a .303 average. Turner will be up agianst the LHP Clayton Richard of the Padres on Friday and you always to take a good look at Turner when he is up agianst a lefties as he is 4 for 8 agianst them this season and posted a .380 average and 1.181 OPS agianst them last season. Turner is 9 for 19 (.474) average agianst Richard in his career and as the Dodgers have had good success against Richard in the past, I think having a Dodger or two in your lineups tonight would be a smart thing to do.
SS – Jean Segura (SEA - $2,600) – I just don’t understand why Jean Segura’s price dropped so much today as I think he is one of the best value plays on the board at just $2,600. Segura is hitting .317 on the season with 3 HR’s, 33 RBI’s, and 11 SB’s. Segura will be up against the rookie, Fernando Romero of the Twins, who although has pitched well to start his career, did get touched up in his recent start and has some control problems as he has a 4.57 BB/9 ratio. Segura is hitting .385 over the past week and has been solid throughout the month as he has a .341 average in the month of May. Segura is hitting .301 with all 3 of his HR’s agianst RHP on the season and as already mentioned, has just too much value to pass up on tonight.
OF – J.D. Martinez (BOS - $4,700) – J.D. Martinez didn’t have a great series agianst the Rays as he was just 1 for 11 however, there is no denying how great Martinez has been this season for the Red Sox as he comes into this matchup with a .328 average with 15 HR’s and 41 RBI’s. Martinez will be up against Julio Teheran who has struggled in his last two starts, giving up 10 ER’s and 3 HR’s over 11.0 IP. Martinez has posted a .365 average, .776 slugging percentage, and a 1.187 OPS at Fenway Park this season and also has hit RHP well as he has posted a .324 average and 1.087 OPS against righties. The wind will be blowing out at Fenway Park tonight and with Martinez’s ability to hit for power towards the opposite field, he is my “Long Ball Lock” for tonight.
OF – Yasiel Puig (LAD - $2,800) – Yasiel Puig had a tough start to the season however and although he is hitting just .224 with 5 HR’s and 15 RBI’s on the season, Puig has really picked it up as of late. Puig is hitting .308 with 2 HR’s over the past week and has been solid in May as he has posted a .297 average. Puig has a ton of HR upside and has a great matchup agianst Clayton Richard of the San Diego Padres who is allowing RHB’s to hit .286 against him on the season. Puig is 7 for 19 against Richard in his career with 2 HR’s and as he has hits in his last four games, I like Puig at this price tonight.
OF – Charlie Blackmon (COL - $4,600) – Charlie Blackmon is hitting just .263 on the season however, I’m not too concerned that the career .303 hitter will start picking it up soon and I also think he has a great chance for a big game tonight at home agianst the struggling RHP Sal Romano of the Reds. Blackmon has 12 HR’s on the season and has started to hit better as of late as he has collected hits in 5 of his last 6 games. Sal Romano is allowing LHB’s to hit .316 against him on the season and has really struggled as of late as in his last two games, he has allowed 13 ER’s in just 7.1 IP. Blackmon posted a .391 average and 1.239 OPS at Coors Field last season and I’m expecting a big game from the 5-tool player tonight.
Utility – Salvador Perez (KC - $3,500) – At the utility spot, I’m going to be rolling with Salvador Perez who comes into this game with a .254 average with 8 HR’s and 26 RBI’s. Perez has been on a roll as of last as he has a .286 average with 3 HR’s over the past week and has hits in 6 of his last 7 games. Perez had a nice night in Texas in yesterdays match-up as he went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and as he is 3 for 6 with 2 doubles against the Rangers Mike Minor in his career, I’m hoping Perez can continue his recent stretch of quality AB’s tonight.
Have a great Friday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
