Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 5/28/2018
It’s Monday May 28th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (1:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Chad Bettis (COL - $6,100) – As there aren’t really any top-tier pitching options for Monday night, I’m going to take my chances with Chad Bettis as I think it’s going to be more important to have some good hitters in your lineup. Bettis doesn’t have the high k/9 ratio (5.85) that we generally like to go with however, the Rockies right-hander has pitched well this season as has a 4-1 record with a 3.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Bettis is holding opponents to just a .231 average and will be taking on a Giants team that has scored just three or less runs in 4 of their last 5 games. The Rockies should be favored in a good matchup agianst the LHP Andrew Suarez and I’m hoping Bettis can last 6 innings and get us quality start and win.
C/1B – Yasmani Grandal (LAD- $3,200) – I’m going with switch-hitting Yasmani Grandal at the C/1B position tonight who comes into this game with a .260 average with 8 HR’s and 28 RBI’s. Grandal has been solid at home this season hitting .294 on the season and will be up against Vince Velasquez of the Philadelphia Phillies. Velasquez has some great stuff but is he can be a bit wild and has struggled agianst LHB’s on the season as he is allowing them to post a .315 average, .631 slugging percentage, and .997 OPS. Grandal has hit much better as an LHB on the season (.523 slugging percentage/.891 OPS) and has had some great success of Velasquez in his career as he is 4 for 6 agianst him with 2 HR’s.
2B – Cesar Hernandez (PHI - $3,800) – Cesar Hernandez is one of the more underrated 2B in MLB and although he is hitting just .263 on the season, Hernandez has produced in multiple offensive categories as he currently has 6 HR’s, 17 RBI’s, and 9 SB’s. Hernandez has one of the better matchups on the slate against the RHP Brock Stewart who hasn’t been anything special in his performances this season as he has a 3.72 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 1.86 HR/9 ratio. Stewart is allowing LHB’s to hit .333 against on the season and although Hernandez is hitting for a high average as an LHB, all 6 of his HR’s have been as a LHB on the season.
3B – Nolan Arenado (COL - $5,100) – Nolan Arenado is one of the best hitters in baseball as he has posted a .324 average with 10 HR’s and 29 RBI’s and when Arenado is going up against the LHP, he is almost a must to get in your lineups as against lefties he is hitting .426 with a .754 slugging percentage and 1.281 OPS. Arenado has a nice matchup against Andrew Suarez who has a 5.68 ERA and 1.71 HR/9. Arenado is hitting .397 at Coors Field this season and as he has just crushed the Giants this season to a tune of a .444 average (8 for 18), I have no problems spending up on Arenado tonight.
SS – Trevor Story (COL - $4,200) – I’m sticking in Colorado for my SS tonight and going with the Rockies Trevor Story who although is hitting just .236, does have 10 HR’s and 35 RBI’s on the season. Story is a solid choice today against the LHP Andrew Suarez as he is hitting .306 with a 1.088 OPS vs. left-handed pitchers on the year. Suarez has also really struggled agianst RHB’s this season as he is allowing them to post a .345 average and 1.008 OPS agianst him on the year. Story has great power and has he is hitting .296 with 8 of his 10 HR’s at Coors Field, I think he is one of the best options at SS tonight.
OF – Nick Williams (PHI- $2,800) – Nick Williams is hitting just .237 on the season but has shown some power with 4 HR’s in his limited opportunities and has starting to become a regular against RHP due to the struggles of Aaron Altherr. Williams is hitting .302 so far in the month of May and has been solid over the past week as he is hitting .333 (5 for 15) with 2 HR’s. Williams is agianst the RHP Brock Stewart who has struggled against LHB’s on the season and as Williams has solid HR-upside, I think he is solid bargain at this price.
OF – Jorge Soler (KAN - $3,200) – Jorge Solder is having a nice season so far with the Royals and although he has struggled a bit as of late, he comes into this game with a .272 average with 6 HR’s and 21 RBI’s. Soler and the Royals have a nice matchup agianst the RHP Lance Lynn of the Minnesota Twins who currently has a 6.34 ERA and 1.86 WHIP. Soler hasn’t been great agianst RHP however Lynn has struggled against RHB’s this season allowing them to post a .296 average and .843 OPS against them. Soler has hit .333 (2 for 6) with a triple agianst Lynn in his career and I’m hoping that he can continue his success against him tonight.
OF – Alex Gordon (KAN - $2,500) – Alex Gordon has had a nice year at the plate so far for the Royals and comes into this game with a .271 average with 4 HR’s and 10 RBI’s. Gordon is hitting .389 over the past week and has had great success agianst Lance Lynn in his career as he has posted a .583 (7 for 12) average against him. Lynn is allowing LHB’s to hit .303 against him on the season and has given up at least 4 ER’s in 5 of his 9 starts on the season. Gordon has always seemed to hit Minnesota hard as over the past three seasons he has a .285 average with 8 HR’s and 25 RBI’s and with the way he is swinging the bat lately, I think he some great value tonight.
Utility – Mike Moustakas (KAN - $4,000) – I’m sticking with the Royals with my utility spot and will be going with their slugging 3B, Mike Moustakas who although hasn’t been hitting the ball well lately, still is hitting .277 with 11 HR’s and 33 RBI’s on the season. Moustakas has the nice matchup agianst Lance Lynn and is hitting .292 with a .921 OPS agianst RHP’s on the season. Moustakas is hitting .300 in his career agianst Lynn with 2 HR’s and as he has a .316 average at home this season, I think Moose is worth the cost tonight.
Have a great Sunday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
