Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup - 5/30/18

As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!

If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!

Here is my current lineup for today:

P – Max Scherzer (WAS - $11,800) – Max Scherzer disappointed many DFS owners in his last start as he surprising struggled against Miami (6.0 IP, 4 ER, 4 K’s) but there still no denying how great Scherzer has been this season as he comes into a nice matchup against Baltimore with an 8-1 record while posting a 2.13 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Scherzer has an incredible 13.6 k/9 ratio on the season and should be able to pile up some K’s tonight as Baltimore ranks 23rd in team strikeout rate. Scherzer is holding opponents to just a .180 average on the season and has fared well against the current Baltimore roster as he is holding them to a .219 average while striking them out 38% of the time. Scherzer is the best in the MLB on the mound and I don’t mind paying up for him tonight in what I expect to be a big bounce back game.

Hitters: I’m paying up for Max Scherzer tonight not only as he has a nice matchup against Baltimore but because there is a lot of value with the hitters tonight. I’m basically going to stack my offense with players going against Matt Moore (TEX), Jason Vargas (NYM), and Nathan Eovaldi (TB).

C/1B – Ryon Healy (SEA- $2,800) – Ryon Healy is hitting just .257 on the season however, the Mariners 1B has shown some decent power this season as he comes into this matchup with 8 HR’s and 23 RBI’s. Healy is hitting .304 over the past week and has had a decent month of May as he is hitting .275 with 5 HR’s. Healy will be up against the LHP Matt Moore of the Rangers who is allowing RHB’s to hit .329 against him on the season. Healy has a respectable .588 slugging percentage and .912 OPS against LHP and has a.333 average with a HR against Moore in his career.

2B – Jed Lowrie (OAK - $3,300) – Jed Lowrie started off the year on a tear and although he has calmed down a bit, the veteran second baseman of the A’s is still having a solid year as he currently is hitting .307 with 9 HR’s and 39 RBI’s. Lowrie currently is 4 for his last 9 with a BB and will be up against the RHP Nathan Eovaldi of the Tampa Bay Rays who is making his first start since 2016 due to an elbow injury. Lowrie is hitting for a lower average as a LHB on the season however, the majority of his power has come from this side of the plate as 8 of his 9 HR’s have been as a LHB. Eovaldi had a 1.7 HR/9 ratio in his last full season and I think the A’s could be in for a big night against the Rays on Wednesday.

3B – Johan Camargo (ATL - $2,300) – Johan Camargois hitting just .230 on the season with 3 HR’s and 14 RBI’s but is hitting .316 over the past week which included a walk-off HR in the Braves 7-6 victory over the Mets last night. Camargo currently has a three game hitting streak and has one of the best matchups of the night against the LHP Jason Vargas of the Mets who comes into this game with a 10.62 ERA and 2.16 WHIP. Vargas is allowing opponents to hit .370 against him on the season and although the switch-hitting Camargo has struggled more as RHB this season, he showed us last year that he can hit from that side as he posted a .403 average (29-72) with a .694 slugging percentage and 1.128 OPS as a RHB.

SS – Dansby Swanson (ATL - $2,900) – Dansby Swanson is hitting .268 on the season with 3 HR’s and 18 RBI’s and although the former top-pick doesn’t have eye-popping offensive numbers so far this season, he has shown flashes of his potential at times this year. I like Swanson tonight as his price has dropped below the $3,000 range and that he has that great matchup against a struggling Jason Vargas who if he doesn’t have his change-up working, can get hit real hard. Swanson has a .538 slugging percentage and .883 OPS against LHP on the season and I’m hoping that after his 2 for 3 performance with a double last night will get him going, I think he had some nice value tonight in the Braves lineup that could put up a lot of runs.

OF – Mitch Haniger (SEA- $3,500) – Mitch Haniger has struggled a bit as of late however, the Mariners outfielder still is having a solid season as he comes into this game with a .277 average with 11 HR’s and 39 RBI’s. Haniger has that nice matchup against Matt Moore who comes into this game with a 7.99 ERA and even with his recent struggles, has still hit LHP to the tune of a .375 average and 1.051 OPS on the season. Haniger has hit better at home this season (.286 average) and also is hitting better under the lights as he has posted a .304 average during night games. Haniger has crushed Texas so far this season as he is hitting .433 (13-30) with 3 HR’s and 1.388 OPS against the Rangers and with Matt Moore on the mound coming of an injury, I think Haniger will have a good chance for a big night in this one.

OF – Nelson Cruz (SEA - $3,200) – Nelson Cruz isn’t hitting for a great average so far this season as the career .275 hitter is hitting just .227 on the year, however, Cruz is still showing that he has that great power as he currently has 9 HR’s on the season to go along with 23 RBI’s. Cruz has hits in 5 of his last 6 games which includes 2 HR’s and similar to his teammate Mitch Haniger, has be a thorn in the side of the Rangers this season as he is hitting .435 (10 for 23) against them with a 1.35 OPS. Moore has a 1.3 HR/9 ratio on the season and as Cruz has posted a .298 average, .596 slugging percentage, and 1.000 OPS against LHB’s over his last three seasons, I think Cruz is a great value play at this price.

OF – Matt Joyce (OAK - $2,600) – Matt Joyce is purely a match-up based selection as the Oakland outfielder is hitting just .203 on the season with 6 HR’s and 10 RBI’s. Joyce does have decent HR power as he has 137 HR’s in his career and I imagine he will be getting the start tonight in Oakland’s great matchup against Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi allowed LHB’s to have a .871 OPS against him in his last full season in 2016 and Oakland could be in for a big night as in his last rehab start that Triple-A level, Eovaldi gave up 8 ER’s in just 4.0 IP. Joyce is a risky play however, I’ll take my chances that the 10-year veteran can get us a HR tonight in this solid matchup.

Utility – Kurt Suzuki (ATL - $2,500) – Kurt Suzuki is hitting just .269 on the season but does have 7 HR’s and 21 RBI’s and is my surprising “Long Ball Lock” of the night in his great matchup against Jason Vargas. Suzuki has been crushing LHP this season as he currently has a .314 average and .968 OPS against them on the season. Suzuki has also been unbelievable at home this season, sporting a .351 average with a .703 slugging percentage and 1.103 OPS. Vargas comes into this game with a 2.66 HR/9 ratio and as Suzuki is hitting .458 with a 1.402 OPS against the Mets on the year, I think he has some of the best value on the slate tonight.

Have a great Wednesday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
