Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 6/1/2018
It’s Friday June 1st, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Tyler Mahle (CIN - $6,100) – There are a lot of solid pitchers going on tonight’s slate, however, as I’m not a big fan of any of those matchups, I’m going the other way tonight and going to take a chance on the RHP Tyler Mahle of the Cincinnati Reds. Mahle comes into this game with a 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP however, the Reds rookie has some decent stuff and certainly has the ability to be one of their better pitchers in their rotation. Mahle can strike people out as he has an 8.59 K/9 ratio and has a nice matchup tonight against San Diego Padres who comes into this game ranked 28th in team strikeout rate and 26th in team batting average (.229) against RHP. Mahle has shown his upside, especially in his performance against the Braves earlier this season (6.0 IP, 3 ER’s, 11 K’s) and if he can get us 30-40 points tonight, he’ll have some of the best value on the board.
C/1B – Tucker Barnhart (CIN - $2,200) – I’m going to really load up in my OF tonight so I’m taking some value at the C/1B position in Tucker Barnhart who comes into this game with a .261 average with 3 HR’s and 14 RBI’s. Barnhart has hits in 6 of his last 7 games and has some additional value now as the Reds have been batting him in the 2-spot which will give Barnhart the chance to score some more runs with Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez hitting behind him. Barnhart will be up against Walker Lockett of the San Diego Padres who will be making his MLB debut. The RHP Lockett hasn’t been that impressive at Triple-A this season as he has posted just a 5.31 ERA while giving up 8 HR’s so afar in 10 starts this season. Barnhart is hitting .293 in the month of May and I think he has some nice value in this matchup tonight.
2B – Ian Kinsler (LAA - $2,700) – I’m going to be stacking the Los Angeles Angels against Bartolo Colon tonight and it will start with Ian Kinsler who comes in at a nice price. Kinsler is hitting just .217 on the season with 3 HR’s however, has really picked it up as of late as he is hitting .375 with a HR over the past week. Kinsler has hit better against RHP’s on the season and will face Colon who has struggled more against RHB’s on the year. Kinsler always seems to bring another gear when he goes against his former team that Rangers as over the past three seasons he has .299 average with a .904 OPS against Texas and as Kinsler comes into this game 8 for his last 10 with 3 doubles and a HR, I like Kinsler tonight.
3B – Justin Turner (LAD - $4,100) – Justin Turner is still regaining his form after missing the first six weeks of the season due to a wrist injury and although he is hitting just .255 with a HR and 8 RBI’s since returning, I have no problems paying up for him tonight as he will be at Coors Field going up against the LHP Tyler Anderson of the Rockies. Anderson has been nothing more than average this season with a 4.72 ERA and has been giving up more HR’s as of late as over his past five starts he has given up 7 HR’s. Turner is 9 for 17 lifetime (.529 average) with 3 doubles and HR in his career against Anderson and as Turner hit .380 with a .704 slugging percentage and 1.181 OPS vs. LHP last season, I think he could be in for a nice night in the thin air of Colorado.
SS – Andrelton Simmons (HOU - $3,500) – Andrelton Simmons is having a career year at the plate for the Angels as the shortstop comes into this game with a .337 average with 4 HR’s and 32 RBI’s. Simmons comes into this game on a 9-game hitting streak and is also hitting .370 over the past week. Simmons has that nice matchup against Bartolo Colon and has hit RHP much better this season as he has a .344 average and .884 OPS against righties. Simmons is 12 for 26 (.462 average) against Colon in his career as he is hitting .370 on the road this season, Simmons is solid choice at shortstop this evening.
OF – Mike Trout (LAA- $4,100) – I’m spending a lot of money in the OF tonight and it starts with Mike Trout who is also my “Long Ball Lock” of the day in his matchup against Bartolo Colon with the wind blowing out in Texas tonight. Trout is hitting .302 on the season with 18 HR’s and 36 RBI’s and although he is coming off a less than average series against the Tigers, he is still hitting .370 with 3 HR’s over the past week. Trout is hitting .306 with a 1.132 OPS against RHP on the year and like Simmons, is hitting much better on the road as he has a .351 average and 1.190 OPS away from home. Trout is 10 for 18 (.556 average) with 3 HR’s against Colon in his career and I’m hoping for another big night like he had against the Yankees last week.
OF – Nick Castellanos (DET- $3,800) – Nick Castellanos continues to just hit the baseball as the Tigers outfielder currently is hitting .332 on the season with 5 HR’s and 29 RBI’s. Castellanos has a 5-game hitting streak and is hitting .375 over the past week. I really like Castellanos tonight as he will be going up against the LHP Jamie Garcia of the Toronto Blue Jays who comes into this game with a 5.52 ERA and has struggled as of late as he has given up at least 6 ER’s in two of his last four starts. Castellanos has been almost automatic against LHP this season as he has a .426 average and 1.094 OPS against lefties and as he is coming of back to back 3-hit games, I see Castellanos continuing his current hot streak tonight.
OF – Aaron Judge (NYY - $4,800) – I’m going with Aaron Judge tonight as the Yankee slugger has a decent matchup against Baltimore’s Keven Gausman and comes into this game with a solid .292 average with 15 HR’s and 40 RBI’s. Judge is hitting .368 with 2 HR’s over the past week and currently has hits in 4 of his last 5 games. Judge has fared much better against RHP’s this season as he has a .306 average with a 1.132 OPS. Gausman has been shaky as of late as he has been hit hard in two of his last three starts and is actually allowing RHB’s to hit .301 against him on the season. Judge has a .294 average against Baltimore on the season and as he is 7 for 14 with 3 HR’s against Gausman in his career, I like Judge tonight.
Utility – Luis Valbuena (LAA - $2,400) – To compete my Angels stack against Bartolo Colon, I’m going to go with Luis Valbuena who although is hitting just .241 on the season, he does have 6 HR’s and 18 RBI’s. Valbuena is hitting .333 over his past week and as been really hot as of late as in his last two starts he is 5 for 9 with 2 HR’s, 3 RBI’s, and 3 runs scored. Valbuena has a .300 average against the Rangers this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a popular value play tonight as he is 3 for 7 lifetime against Colon with 2 HR’s.
Have a great Friday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
