Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup - 6/2/18

It’s Saturday June 2nd, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:15 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.

As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!

If you want to sneak peak of my lineup before this article is released, remember to check out my video posted on Sports Chat Place Facebook page!

Here is my current lineup for today:

P – Caleb Smith (MIA - $8,100) – I’m going to be staying away from the top-tier pitchers once again tonight as I think Caleb Smith of the Marlins has some great upside for his $8,100 salary tonight. Smith comes into this game with a 3.51 ERA and 1.15 WHIP and has given up 2 or less ER’s in 6 of his last 7 starts. Smith is great for daily fantasy as he has some great strikeout upside and currently is sporting an 11.0 k/9 ratio. Smith will be up agianst the Arizona Diamondbacks who rank 26th in strikeout rate and rank last in MLB in batting average (.217). Miami has a tough matchup against Zack Greinke however, as I think Smith can get us 40-50 points tonight, I’ll take my chances on the Miami left-hander.

C/1B – Eric Hosmer (SD - $3,500) – Eric Hosmer hasn’t been as impactful on the offensive end for the Padres as they were hoping when they gave him a big offseason contract however, I like the veteran 1B tonight in his matchup agianst the RHP Matt Harvey of the Cincinnati Reds. Hosmer is hitting .276 on the season with 6 HR’s and 24 RBI’s however, has been hitting better as of late as he has a .333 average over the past week. Hosmer has a .306 average and .880 OPS agianst RHP on the season with 4 of his 6 HR’s while Harvey is allowing LHB’s to post a .306 average, .653 slugging percentage, and 1.005 OPS against him this season. Hosmer is 4 for 4 lifetime with a double against Harvey and I can see the success continuing tonight.

2B – Ian Kinsler (LAA - $2,700) – I’m going to continue to roll with Ian Kinsler as the Angels second baseman has been really on a tear as of late. Kinsler is hitting just .216 on the season with 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s however, is hitting .400 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s over the past week. Kinsler is currently on a 5-game hitting streak in which he has had 3 multi-hit games and will be up against Cole Hamels who has allowed RHB’s to hit 12 HR’s agianst him on the season. Kinsler has a HR last night agianst Bartolo Colon and has always played well agianst his former team as over the past three seasons he has a .299 average and .904 OPS agianst the Rangers.

3B – Eugenio Suarez (CIN - $3,700) – Eugenio Suarez has been incredible this season as even with missing a little more than two weeks of action in mid-April, the Reds third-baseman is currently hitting .305 with 10 HR’s and 43 RBI’s. Suarez will be up agianst the LHP Eric Lauer who has really struggled this season as he comes into this game with a 7.67 ERA and 2.08 WHIP. Lauer has a 1.8 HR/9 ratio and is allowing RHB’s to post a .363 average and 1.005 OPS agianst him. Suarez has posted a .417 average, .833 slugging percentage, and 1.386 OPS against LHP on the season and as he is hitting .391 over the past week, I think he is well worth the $3,700 tonight.

SS – Carlos Correa (HOU - $4,200) – Carlos Correa is hitting just .267 on the season but does have 10 HR’s and 39 RBI’s and I’m going to pay up for him tonight as he will be up against the Boston Red Sox in which he has just absolutely dominated in his career. Going into this season Correa had a career .417 average and 1.233 OPS against the Red Sox and he certainly has picked up where he left off this season so far in this series, Correa is 3 for 7 with 2 HR’s and 3 RBI’s. Correa is up agianst the LHP David Price who had pitched much better as of late, however, Correa has had success against Price as he is 2 for 5 with a HR agianst the left-hander. Correa is hitting .313 with agianst LHP on the season and I think he’ll continue his strong series against the Red Sox tonight.

OF – Nomar Mazara (TEX - $3,800) – Nomar Mazara has really started to come into his own as a hitter for the Rangers in his 2nd year in the big leagues as Mazara comes into tonight’s matchup with a .278 average with 13 HR’s and 37 RBI’s. Mazara currently is on a 4-game hitting streak in which he has had three multi-hit games and is hitting .360 with 2 doubles and a HR over the past week. Mazara will be up against the RHP Garrett Richards of the Angels tonight who hasn’t been that sharp this season he lasted just 2.1 innings in his last outing agianst the Yankees, walking 5 batters. Mazara has a .280 average agianst RHP’s on the season and has been solid agianst the Angels this season, hitting .313 against them.

OF – Joey Gallo (TEX - $3,300) –  Joey Gallo hasn’t panned out for me the few times I’ve taken him so far this season, but I’m going to roll with the ultimate “boom or bust” player as although Gallo is hitting just .208 on the season, he does have 15 HR’s and 34 RBI’s. Gallo has been hitting well as of late as he has a .318 average over the past week and has 10 of his 15 HR’s vs. RHP’s on the season. Gallo has a career .333 average and 1.262 OPS agianst the LHP Garrett Richards, who had given up 3 HR’s in his last 4 starts, and I just feel that Gallo is a bit overdue for a HR, I’m taking my chances with him tonight.

OF – Matt Kemp (LAD - $3,400) – Matt Kemp is having an outstanding season for the Dodgers and I’m actually quite surprised that his price is this low for a matchup at Coors Field tonight. Kemp  is hitting .341 on the season with 8 HR’s and 31 RBI’s and will be up agianst the RHP German Marquez who currently has a 7.54 over 5 starts at Coors Field this season. Kemp is hitting .364 with a  2 HR’s and 6 RBI’s over the past week and as has fared well agianst RHP as has a .328 average with 5 of his 8 HR’s against righties on the year. Over his past three seasons, Kemp has a .366 average and 1.115 OPS against Colorado and I think he is one of the better value plays tonight.

Utility – Tucker Barnhart (CIN - $2,200) – As I need a value pick for my utility spot as I have little salary left, I’m going to back to Tucker Barnhart of the Cincinnati Reds for the 2nd straight night. Barnhart is hitting just .259 with 3 HR’s and 16 RBI’s however, he does have hits in 7 of his last 8 games and has a bunch of more DFS value now that he is hitting out of the 2-hole in the Reds batting order. Barnhart will be up agianst the LHP Eric Lauer of the Padres who has really struggled this season as he has given up 5 HR’s over his last 15.1 IP. Barnhart has a .400 average and a 1.053 OPS against LHP on the season and as I think Cincinnati is in for a big offensive night, I like Barnhart’s value tonight.

Have a great Saturday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
