Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 6/3/2018
It’s Sunday June 3rd, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (1:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing this afternoon!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Jon Lester (CHC - $8,400) – Jon Lester is having a nice season so far for the Cubs as the left-hander comes into this game with a 5-2 record while posting a 2.71 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. Lester was hit hard by Pittsburgh in his last outing however, still has pitched well as of late as previous of his last start Lester went five straight outing without giving up more than 2 ER’s. Lester has a reasonable 7.7 K/9 ratio, but I really like him today as he will be up against the Mets who have really struggled agianst LHP on the season. The Mets rank dead last in MLB in average (.208) vs. LHP and as Lester is holding the current Mets roster to just a .216 average, I think Lester is the play on the mound today.
C/1B – Jose Abreu (CWS - $3,600) – Jose Abreu hasn’t been talked about much this year however, Abreu is having a solid season for the White Sox as he comes into this game with a .300 average with 9 HR’s and 31 RBI’s. Abreu will be up against the LHP Brent Suter of the Brewers who hasn’t been anything special this season as he comes into this game with a 4.63 ERA. Abreu is hitting .298 with a .939 OPS vs. LHP on the season and currently is 3 for 8 with a double in the first two games of his series. Abreu hit .330 in the month of May and as the wind will be blowing out hard to left-center today, Abreu is my "Long Ball Lock" of the day.
2B – Jason Kipnis (CLE - $3,100) – It’s been a struggle for Jason Kipnis this season as the veteran second-baseman is still hitting below the Mendoza line as he comes into this game with a .196 average with 3 HR’s and 22 RBI’s. I’m going with Kipnis today as I didn’t want to spend up at this position and he has a good history agianst the Twins Kyle Gibson in which he is 11 for 23 (.478 average/1.309 OPS) agianst in his career. Gibson has pitched well for the Twins this season however, has struggled at home as he has posted just a 5.76 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .320 agianst him at Target Field. Kipnis has a .289 average over the past three season vs. RHP and I’m hoping he can break out of his season long hitting slump this afternoon.
3B – Eduardo Escobar (MIN - $3,400) – Eduardo Escobar is having a solid season for the Twins as although the switch-hitter only has a .266 average, he does come into his matchup against the Indians with a 10 HR’s and 30 RBI’s. Escobar has had a nice series agianst Cleveland so far as he is 4 for 11 with 3 HR’s and will look to continue his success today against the RHP Mike Clevinger. Escobar has 8 of his 10 HR’s as an LHB and has posted a .535 slugging percentage and .842 OPS against RHP on the season. Escobar has three multi-hit games over his last four contests and I like his upside as just $3,400.
SS – Tim Anderson (CWS - $3,700) – Tim Anderson is hitting just .244 on the season but is a great daily fantasy target as he comes into his matchup with 11 HR’s, 22 RBI’s, and 12 SB’s. Anderson has that nice matchup against the LHP Brent Suter who had given up 8 HR’s over his last 5 starts and Anderson has posted a .294 average, .569 slugging percentage, and a .926 OPS vs. LHP on the season. Anderson his hit .302 against the Twins over his last three seasons and as the conditions should give the hitters the advantage in Chicago this afternoon, I’m going with Anderson who certainly has the upside to put up a big day.
OF – Bradley Zimmer (CLE- $2,400) – Needed to find some value for one of my OF spots tonight and decided to take chance on the Indians Bradley Zimmer. Zimmer is hitting just .235 on the season with 2 HR’s and 9 RBI’s but looked good in his first start back from the DL as he went 2 for 4 in yesterday’s game. Zimmer has enough power to get us HR’s and can be real dangerous on the basepaths as he has some of the best speed in the game. Zimmer is hitting .455 against the Twins on the season and as he has a .286 average agianst Kyle Gibson in his career, I’ll take my chances on Zimmer this afternoon.
OF – Juan Soto (WAS- $3,000) – Juan Soto has been everything as advertised since being called up for the majors as the Nationals 19-year old rookie is hitting .349 average with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s. Soto had a monster game yesterday going 3 for 5 with a HR and is hitting .385 over the past week. Soto has a nice match-up against the RHP Anibal Sanchez who lasted just 4 innings while giving up 4 ER’s and 2 HR’s against the Mets in his first start back since being on the DL. Soto has a .370 average with a .877 OPS vs. RHP and as he great power to get us HR’s, I think he is a solid value play today at just $3,000.
OF – Michael Brantley (CLE - $4,600) – Michael Brantley is healthy and has been outstanding this season as the Indians outfielder comes into this game with a .325 average with 9 HR’s and 37 RBI’s. Brantley will be up agianst Kyle Gibson of the Twins in which he has a career .385 average (5 for 13) with a 1.192 OPS. Brantley is hitting .339 average with a .962 OPS vs. RHB on the season and although he has struggled a bit in this current series agianst the Twins, Brantley has been hitting .316 against Minnesota over his past three seasons.
Utility – Jonathan Villar (MIL- $2,700) – Jonathan Villar has started to look like the player we know he can be as the switch-hitting second baseman comes into his game today against the White Sox with a .285 average with 4 HR’s, 18 RBI’s, and 8 SB’s. Villar has been great over the past week as he has a .375 average with 2 HR’s and has hits in 4 of his last 5 games. Villar should be getting the start today agianst the RHP Dylan Covey as Villar has been much better agianst RHP’s this season, posting a .294 average with 3 HR’s. Covey is allowing LHB’s to hit .323 against him and as Villar has a good chance to get us a SB if he gets on base, I like his value at just $2,700.
Have a great Sunday everyone and Good Luck this afternoon!
