MLB - Late Slate (7:05 PM) - DraftKingsLineup for 6/5/18
Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB DraftKings Lineup – 6/5/2018
It’s Tuesday June 5th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB DraftKings contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Kyle Hendricks (CHC - $8,300) – I’m going with value again at both my pitcher spots tonight and will start off with Kyle Hendricks of the Cubs who comes into his matchup against the struggling Philadelphia Phillies with a 3.19 ERA and 1.06 WHIP on the season. Hendrick has a little trouble with the HR ball earlier in the season but has settled down as of late and was outstanding in his last home outing against the Giants where he went 7 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 ER, while striking out 7. Hendricks has about a 7.0 K/9 ratio and could be in line for a few extra K’s tonight against a Philadelphia team that ranks 29th in MLB in team strikeout rate. Hendricks has a 2.38 ERA while holding opponents to just a .184 average at home. Hendricks is holding the current Phillies roster to just a .237 average in his career and as the only one that has done damage against him (Rhys Hoskins) is out due to a jaw injury, I expect a solid outing from Hendricks tonight.
P – Steven Wright (BOS - $5,300) – We have a couple of top-tier pitchers in Max Scherzer and Corey Kluber on the mound tonight, however, I’m going in a different direction tonight and going to try and hit some value with the Red Sox’s Steven Wright. The Knuckleballer has excellent in his limited relief appearances this season after starting the year off on the DL and currently has a 2.25 ERA and 1.19 WHIP on the season. In his last 4 outings combined, Wright has gone 9.0 IP while giving up just 4 hits and no ER’s. Wright has a solid 7.9 K/9 ratio and is currently holding his opponents to a .167 average. Wright hasn’t fared well against Detroit in the past however, I think he will have some success tonight as he is trying to earn himself a spot in the starting rotation and will be facing a tired Tigers team that played a double-header yesterday and had to travel late last night.
Utility – Gary Sanchez (COL - $4,300) – It’s been a struggle for the Yankees catcher this season to get hits as Sanchez currently has just a .201 average however, Sanchez still has provided the Yankees lineup with some power as he has 12 HR’s and 35 RBI’s on the season. Sanchez will be up against the Blue Jays Marco Estrada who currently has a 1.84 HR/9 ratio and although Sanchez is just 4 for 21 lifetime against Estrada, all four of his hits have been HR’s. Sanchez has 9 of his 12 HR’s this season against RHP’s and as he came into this season with a career .297 average and .935 OPS vs. RHP’s, I don’t think it will be long until we see Sanchez getting that average up.
1B – Mitch Moreland (BOS - $4,600) – Mitch Moreland has sized the opportunity of getting everyday playing time since the release of Hanley Ramirez and comes into this game with a .305 average with 10 HR’s and 30 RBI’s. He recently had a decent series against the tough Houston Astros rotation as he had 2 HR’s in the series including a 3 for 4 performance with a HR against Charlie Morton on Sunday night. Moreland will be up against the RHP Artie Lewicki of the Tigers who in his one career start last season against the Royals went 5 innings giving up 5 ER’s on 11 hits. Moreland has been solid against RHP on the season as he has a .321 average and 1.064 OPS and has been even better at Fenway Park on the year as he currently is hitting .348 with a 1.089 OPS at home.
2B – Jonathan Schoop (BAL - $3,500) – Jonathan Schoop has taken a little bit of a step back this season after a solid 2017 campaign and currently comes into tonight’s game against the Mets with a .238 average with 5 HR’s and 15 RBI’s. Schoop has some nice value tonight as he does have HR upside and will be up against the LHP Jason Vargas who even after his solid start against the Braves, comes into this game with a 8.53 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, and a 2.13 HR/9. Schoop had a nice series against the Yankees over this past weekend as he was 3 for 8 with doubles and has a .295 average this season against LHP. Schoop hit LHP hard last season to the tune of a .300 average and .954 OPS and as I don’t see Vargas having another solid game, I like Schoop at this price tonight.
3B – Eugenio Suarez (CIN- $5,100) – Eugenio Suarez is playing like an all-star this season for the Cincinnati Reds as the third-baseman currently is hitting .297 with 11 HR’s and 44 RBI’s the year. The HR’s and RBI totals for Suarez are even more impressive as Suarez missed a large part of April due to injury. Suarez and the Reds will be up against the LHP Kyle Freeland of the Rockies who although has a solid 3.43 ERA on the year, has given up 14 hits and 6 ER’s over his last two starts, including 2 HR’s. Freeland struggled against Cincinnati last season as in his two starts he posted a 7.36 ERA with 3 HR’s against the Reds. Suarez is hitting .333 over the past week with 2 HR’s and I don’t mind paying up for him tonight as going into this game, Suarez has a .385 average, .769 slugging percentage, and 1.298 OPS vs. LHP on the year.
SS – Manny Machado (BAL- $5,200) – Manny Machado has been one of the bright spots for the Baltimore Orioles this season and I’m excited to see what happens with Machado at the trade deadline as he is most likely on his way out of Baltimore this season. Machado is hitting .327 on the season with 18 HR’s and 47 RBI’s on the season. Machado has a 7-game hitting streak and is hitting .400 with 3 HR’s over the past week. Machado and the Orioles have one of the better matchups against Jason Vargas of the Mets tonight who is allowing RHB’s to have a .338 average and .959 OPS against him on the season. Machado has a .985 OPS and 5 HR’s in 59 AB’s vs. LHP on the year and is worth the high price tag tonight he will be hitting at Camden Yards in which he has posted a .366 average and 1.239 OPS this season.
OF – J.D. Martinez (BOS- $5,200) – J.D. Martinez left the Red Sox game on Sunday with some back soreness after the game was in hand and with the day off yesterday, we should see Martinez right back in the starting lineup tonight. Martinez has been a monster for the Red Sox this season as he currently has a .315 average with 19 HR’s and 50 RBI’s and will be up against Artie Lewicki of the Detroit Tigers who is allowing RHB’s to hit .324 against him this season. Martinez has a .316 average, .707 slugging percentage, and a 1.090 OPS against RHP’s on the year and as he has a .346 average, .788 slugging percentage, and a 1.185 OPS at Fenway Park, he is not a hard choice to spend up for tonight.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton (NYY - $4,800) – Giancarlo Stanton took exception last night getting hit by Mike Fiers against and Stanton is not a man you want to anger as in his next AB, he crushed a HR over the left-field fence. Stanton is hitting just .248 on the season but has shown some of his power as he has 13 HR’s and 32 RBI’s. Stanton has hits in 5 of his last 6 games and is 4 for his last 12 with 2 HR’s. The Yankees have a good matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays and the RHP Macro Estrada who comes into this game with a 5.68 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. Estrada is allowing RHB’s to hit .305 against him with a .913 OPS. Stanton has a .353 average (6 for 17), 1.176 slugging %, and 1.529 OPS against Estrada in his career with 4 of his 6 hits being HR’s and as I think Stanton is getting on a hot streak here, I’m rolling with him tonight.
OF – Scott Schebler (CIN - $3,600) – Scott Schebler is more of a value pick for my OF tonight and will be part of my Cincinnati stack against Kyle Freeland. Schebler is hitting just .259 on the season but does have some power as he has 7 HR’s and 21 RBI’s on the year. Schebler currently has a 4-game hitting streak and is hitting .400 over the past week. Schebler is hitting .288 at Great American Ball Park this season and has actually hit LHB’s better this season as he has a .310 average vs. lefties. Schebler has had some success before against the LHP Kyle Freeland of the Rockies as he 4 for 6 lifetime against him with a double and HR.
Have a great Tuesday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
