Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 6/7/2018
It’s Thursday June 7th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:07 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Gerrit Cole (HOU - $11,800) – It’s not the greatest pitchers slate today and because we have limited options, I think it’s necessary to pay for Cole tonight in his matchup against the Rangers. Cole is having an outstanding first season with Houston and comes into this game with a 6-1 record, 2.20 ERA, and a 0.83 WHIP. Cole has 10 quality starts this season and has been striking out a bunch of people as he currently has a 12.8 K/9 ratio. Cole has been great on the road this season as he has a 1.76 ERA and holding opponents to just a .154 average. Cole has been great against Texas this season as he has already faced the Rangers twice and over his 14.0 IP, he has given up just 5 hits while striking out 25 Rangers.
C/1B – Brad Miller (TB - $2,500) – We have to find some value with spending so much on Cole today and I’m hoping that the Rays Brad Miller can provide some of it. Miller is hitting just .256 on the season with 5 HR’s and 21 RBI’s however, has been playing well as of late as he has a .375 average over the past week with hits in 5 of his last 6 games. Miller has fared better during night games this season, posting a .286 average and .802 OPS, and will be up against the RHP Mike Leake of the Seattle Mariners who even though has had a couple nice starts recently, still is posting a 4.71 ERA and 1.29 WHIP on the season. Miller struggled against Leake in his most recent matchup however, is still 4 for 9 against Leake in his career with a double and 2 triples.
2B – Jonathan Schoop (BAL - $3,000) – I’m going to be stacking the Baltimore Orioles tonight as I really like their matchup against the Blue Jays as they will be facing a struggling Jamie Garcia and the Toronto bullpen should be a bit tired after their extra-innings loss to the Yankees last night. Schoop is hitting just .232 with 5 HR’s and 15 RBI’s on the season but has collected hits in 3 of his last 4 games and does provide us with HR potential. Garcia is allowing RHB’s to hit .305 against him on the season and Schoop has always hit LHP much better and currently has a .304 average and .730 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
3B – Danny Valencia (BAL - $2,600) – Similar to Jonathan Schoop, Danny Valencia is purely a match-up based play against Jamie Garcia of the Blue Jays tonight. Valencia should be getting the start tonight against the left-hander and has had a decent season as he has a .270 average with 5 HR’s and 14 RBI’s. Valencia generally has hit LHP very well as over his last three seasons he has posted a .294 average with a .854 OPS vs. LHP. Valencia currently has a .799 OPS vs. LHP this season and in his limited experience against Jamie Garcia, he has found some success as he is 2 for 3 against him.
SS – Manny Machado (BAL - $4,500) – I was able to save up enough salary to afford Manny Machado who is also my “Long Ball Lock” of the night. Machado has been one of the few bright spots for the Orioles this season and comes into this game with a .323 average, 18 HR’s, and 49 RBI’s. Machado is hitting .308 over the past week and has been solid against LHP on the year, posting a .290 average and .970 OPS against them. Jamie Garcia is allowing RHB’s to post a .909 OPS against him on the season and as Machado is hitting .364 with a 1.227 OPS against the Blue Jays this season, I think he is in for a big game tonight.
OF – Dustin Fowler (OAK - $2,400) – I’m targeting mostly the Orioles tonight however, I’m certainly not against stacking from the OAK/KC game and will at least get one A’s player in Dustin Fowler. Fowler comes into this game with a .250 average with 3 HR’s and 11 RBI’s and has been great as of late as he has a .444 average over the past week with 3 multi-hit games in his last 5 contests. Fowler has put up some big games this season as he has good power and speed and will be up against the RHP Jason Hammel of the Kansas City Royals tonight. Fowler has been excellent this season against the Royals as he has posted a .500 average (6 for 12) and 1.538 OPS.
OF – Carlos Gomez (TB - $2,400) – I don’t love this pick but I didn’t have much salary yet and decided to go with Carlos Gomez mostly due to his success against Seattle’s Mike Leake. Gomez is hitting just .191 on the season but does have 7 HR’s and 14 RBI’s on the year and still is seeing consistent playing time. Leake is allowing RHB’s to post a .281 average and .842 OPS against RHB’s on the season and Gomez has always seen the ball well against the right-hander as he comes into tonight’s matchup with a .400 average (8-20) with a double, triple, and HR.
OF – Adam Jones (BAL - $3,400) – To complete my Baltimore stack, I’m going to with Adam Jones who comes into tonight with a .288 average with 10 HR’s and 28 RBI’s. Jones has been one of the hotter hitters for Orioles as of late as he has posted a .375 average with a HR over the past week. Jones has hits in 6 of his last 7 games with 4 multi-hit games in that span. Jones has that nice matchup against Jamie Garcia in which we are exploiting and has been great against LHP as he has posted a .388 average against lefties on the season.
Utility – Evan Gattis (HOU - $2,400) – I’m still kicking myself from not going with Gattis yesterday as I made a last minute switch to Gurrel, and Gattis went off with a 2 for 3 performance with a HR and 2 RBI’s. Gattis is hitting just .227 on the season however, has found his power as of late and currently has 9 HR’s and 28 RBI’s on the year. Gattis will be up against the LHP Cole Hamels of the Texas Rangers who although comes in with a solid 3.63 ERA, he has given up at least 2 HR’s in this last three starts and has also given up 14 HR’s to the RHB’s on the year. Gattis has a .281 average with 2 HR’s against Texas this season and has fared well against Hamels in his career as he has posted a .323 average (10-31) with 3 HR’s.
Have a great Thursday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
