MLB - Late Slate (7:05 PM) - DraftKings Lineup for 6/18/18
Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB DraftKings Lineup – 6/18/2018
Update (5:52 PM) - Hi Everyone!
It’s Monday June 18th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB DraftKings contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Trevor Bauer (CLE - $12,400) – I’m going to continue to pay up for Trevor Bauer as the Cleveland right-hander has been outstanding this season, coming into tonight’s match-up against the White Sox with a 5-5 record with a 2.69 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Bauer has an incredible 11.6 K/9 ratio on the season and has had no trouble piling up strikeouts as of late as he has record 48 K’s over his last 4 starts. The White Sox rank 28th in MLB in team strikeout rate and struck out 12 times against Bauer last Wednesday. Bauer is holding the current White Sox roster to just a .212 average in his career while striking out 53 batters in 146 AB’s (36.3% K rate). Bauer is allowed to through 110-120 pitches in a start which allows him to pile up K’s while still going late into games and as he has been just lights out lately, I don’t mind paying up for him tonight.
P – Miles Mikolas (STL - $8,300) – Miles Mikolas has been outstanding for the Cardinals this season and comes into tonight’s game vs. the Philadelphia Phillies with a 7-2 record while posting a 2.43 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Mikolas has allowed 3 or more ER’s just twice in his last 10 starts while holding opponents to just a .227 batting average on the season. Mikolas is not a huge strikeout pitcher as he has just a 6.4 K/9 ratio, however, you have to like his matchup tonight against a Philadelphia Phillies team that ranks dead last in MLB in strikeout rate and just 27th in batting average vs. RHP. Mikolas has allowed just 7 HR’s on the season and has been great against RHB’s, holding them to just a .172 average. If Mikolas can get us 6-8 K’s tonight, I think he’ll have some great value at this price.
C – Salvador Perez (KC - $3,800) – Salvador Perez isn’t having a great year in terms of batting average as the career .269 hitter is posting just a .226 mark so far this season, however, the veteran catcher still has some great power as although he missed the majority of April, he still 11 HR’s and 32 RBI’s on the season. Perez has a great matchup against Bartolo Colon of the Texas Rangers tonight who has really struggled as of late and has seen his ERA jump all the way to 4.94 recently after having a great start to his season. Colon is allowing RHB’s to post a .549 slugging percentage and .824 OPS against him this season and has given up 10 HR’s in his last 23.2 IP. Perez has generally hit RHP’s better in his career and I’m hoping that he can send one over the fences tonight.
1B – Yuri Gurriel (HOU - $3,800) – Yuri Gurriel has posted a .301 average with 2 HR’s and 29 RBI’s on the season and as he is hitting .364 over the past week, you have to like his matchup tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays who will be throwing out their entire bullpen against the Astros tonight. Houston has been red hot as of late and it’s never a bad thing to have Gurriel in your lineup who has been generally batting out the 5-spot in that explosive lineup. Gurriel hasn’t showed much power this season but he certainly capable of hitting HR’s and has hit .362 so far in the month of June. Gurriel and the Astros will be seeing many different pitchers tonight which makes Gurriel a solid play as he has fared well against both LHP (.314 avg/.756 OPS) and RHP (.296 avg/.711 OPS) on the year.
2B – Ian Kinsler (LAA - $3,700) – I didn’t love the 2B position tonight on DraftKings as you can’t get Cabrera for the low-price like you can on FanDuel tonight and this slate doesn’t include the Yankees so I can’t pay up for Torres in his good matchup. In ended up rostering Ian Kinsler who comes into this game hitting just .220 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 19 RBI’s. Kinsler has some nice value as he bats at the top of the Angels lineup and is up against the RHP Zack Greinke of the Diamondbacks who had given up 8 ER’s and 3 HR’s over his last two games. Kinsler has been much better against RHP this season (.240 average/.752 OPS) with 8 of his 9 HR’s and although he doesn’t have great average against Greinke in his career, he does have a HR off the right-hander.
3B – Mike Moustakas (KC - $3,900) – Mike Moustakas hasn’t had a great month of June however, the slugging third-baseman still is hitting .262 on the season with 13 HR’s and 46 RBI’s and has one of the best match-ups on the slate tonight against the RHP Bartolo Colon of the Rangers tonight. Moustakas has a 3-game hitting streak which will hopefully get his bat going and has been great against RHP this season, posting a .279 average, .536 slugging percentage, and a .884 OPS. Moustakas has also been much better at home this season, posting a .284 average & .833 OPS and has also posted a .299 average & .950 OPS during “night” games. The KC/TEX matchup has one of the higher run totals on the slate so it will be a good move to get Moustakas and other Royals in your lineups tonight.
SS – Jurickson Profar (TEX - $3,900) – Jurickson Profar is starting to live up to all that potential as although the Rangers SS is hitting just .243 on the season, he currently has 8 HR’s, 41 RBI’s and has a .318 average over the past week. Profar and the Rangers have a solid matchup against Ian Kennedy of the Royals who even though has pitched well I his last two starts, still comes into this game with a 5.13 ERA and 1.55 WHIP on the season. Profar has a .636 slugging percentage and a .969 OPS vs. Kansas City this season and as he comes into this game with a 5-game hit streak, including a 2-5 performance last night with a double, HR, and 4 RBI’s, I like Profar tonight.
OF – Gregory Polanco (PIT - $3,700) – Gregory Polanco comes into his game tonight with a .211 average with 9 HR’s and 34 RBI’s and although he has struggled for the most part since his hot start to the season, the Pirates outfielder has shown signs of life as of late as he is hitting .286 over the past week which includes a 3 for 3 game yesterday with a double and HR. Polanco will be up against the RHP Jhoulys Chacin has been solid for the Brewers this season, however, he has struggled much more against LHB’s this season allowing them to hit .256 against while posting a .742 OPS. Polanco has been much better against RHP’s this season, hitting 8 of his 9 HR’s against them, and as he has the power/speed to put up big games, I like his price tonight.
OF – Delino Deshields (TEX - $3,500) – I want to get another Rangers bat in my lineup against Ian Kennedy and will go with the former 1st round draft pick Delino Deshields. Deshields has had a disappointing MLB career to day and is currently hitting just .223 on the season with 2 HR’s and 8 RBI’s however, has been playing well as of late, posting a .333 average over the past week. Deshields can be a dangerous DFS player as he is lighting on the bases and currently has 15 SB’s on the year, including 3 SB’s over his past two games. Deshields has a .400 OBP vs. Kennedy in his career and as I think he’ll have the green light to run when he gets on base tonight, I’ll take my chances with him tonight as a solid value pick.
OF – Lewis Brinson (MIA - $3,000) – I don’t have much salary left but I don’t mind making a “punt” play with Lewis Brinson of the Marlins as the top-prospect looks as if he starting to figure things at the plate lately for the Marlins. Brinson is hitting just .176 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 27 RBI’s and is hitting .304 over the past week with three triples. Brinson was the main piece that the Marlins acquired in the Christian Yelich trade this offseason and has a decent matchup against the Giants LHP Andrew Suarez who has a 4.92 ERA on the season while allowing RHB’s to post a .304 average, .500 slugging percentage, and a .852 OPS against him. Brinson has star potential and I’m hoping he can have a decent game tonight.
Have a great Monday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
