MLB - Late Slate (7:05 PM) - DraftKings Lineup for 6/19/18
Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB DraftKings Lineup – 6/19/2018
It’s Tuesday June 19th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB DraftKings contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Mike Clevinger (CLE - $10,800) – I’m going with Mike Clevinger of the Indians as my main pitcher tonight as the Cleveland Indians right-hander, similar to Trevor Bauer, has dominated the White Sox this season and I don’t him a different result in tonight’s match-up. Clevinger has a 5-2 record on the season with a 3.15 ERA and 1.18 WHIP is coming off a 7.0 inning performance against the White Sox in which he gave us just 1 ER while striking out 11. Clevinger also a strong outing against the White Sox in early May and is holding the White Sox to a .188 average on the season. Clevinger has a solid 9.03 K/9 ratio and could be in for a nice strikeout night against as the White Sox rank 28th in MLB in team strikeout rate.
P – Jefry Rodriguez (LARZ - $5,900) – This was a last-minute change as my video I did this morning has Matt Koch as my 2nd pitcher however, as Koch has struggled against RHB’s, I just can’t find myself taking him against the Angels (Trout, Upton, Kinsler…etc.). I moved things around a bit to take a chance on Jefry Rodriguez of the Nationals who will be starting his first game in the Big Leagues tonight against the Orioles. Rodriguez pitched 4.2 IP of relief against the Braves earlier this season and although he gave up 4 hits and 2 BB’s, he didn’t give up any runs and had 3 K’s against a good Braves lineup. Rodriguez has been solid in double-AA this season as he has a 3.88 ERA and 9.31 K/9 ratio and I certainly don’t hate this matchup as Baltimore ranks dead last in MLB in team average and just 23rd in team strikeout rate.
C – Robinson Chirinos (TEX - $3,000) – To be able to afford a few players from the Mets/Rockies game tonight, I need to “punt” the catcher position tonight and figured we could do worse than Robinson Chirinos. As of yesterday, Chirinos was currently the only catcher on the Texas roster so playing time shouldn’t be an issue and although he is hitting just .192 on the season, he does have 8 HR’s and 22 RBI’s. I like Chirinos tonight as he has a great matchup against Jason Hammel of the Royals who has a 4.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP and as struggled much more vs. RHB’s this season allowing them to post a .331 average, .464 slugging percentage, and a .825 OPS. Chirinos has hit better on the road this season as he has a .241 average and 5 of his 8 HR’s have been away from home.
1B – Ian Desmond (COL - $4,500) – Ian Desmond hasn’t been able to hit for a decent average this season as he comes into this matchup with just a .207 average, however, Desmond has posted some of the best power numbers among NL first-baseman this season as he currently has 14 HR’s and 40 RBI’s on the year. Desmond has been playing much better as of late as he has a .333 average with 3 HR’s over the past week including hits in 6 of his last 7 games. Desmond and the Rockies have a nice match-up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets who comes into this game with a 7.39 ERA and 1.70 WHIP and has given up a bunch of HR’s this season. Desmond has hit LHP hard this season, posting a .286 average, .597 slugging percentage, and a .946 OPS vs. lefties on the year and as he also has some speed with 7 SB’s on the year, I like Desmond tonight at Coors Field.
2B – Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM - $4,200) – As much as I like the Rockies match-up against Vargas, I think I like the Mets match-up against German Marquez even more which is the main reason I’m getting Asdrubal Cabrera in my lineup tonight. Cabrera has struggled as of late however, he still has some decent numbers this season, posting a .270 average with 12 HR’s and 37 RBI’s. The RHP Marquez comes into this game with a 5.13 ERA and 1.48 WHIP and has struggled with the long ball as he has given up 7 HR’s over his past three starts. The switch-hitting Cabrera has been much better from the left side of the plate this season as he has posted a .503 slugging percentage and .814 OPS vs. RHP’s on the year. Cabrera has fared better on the road this season (.291 average/.522 slugging %/.855 OPS) and hit .429 with a .971 OPS at Coors Field last season.
3B – Nolan Arenado (COL - $5,700) – Nolan Arenado is my “Long Ball Lock” tonight as he is one of the best options on the slate as he will be going up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the Mets. Arenado is hitting .306 on the season with 13 HR’s and 42 RBI’s and has been great at Coors Field this season, posting a .351 average with 7 HR’s. Vargas has really struggled against RHB’s on the season, allowing them to post a .321 average and .894 OPS against him. Arenado is one of the best hitters in MLB vs. LHP as he currently has a .395 average, .741 slugging percentage, and a 1.236 OPS against them this season and as he is 1 for 3 lifetime against Vargas with a double, I’m willing to pay up for him tonight.
SS – Elvis Andrus (TEX - $3,600) – Elvis Andrus returned to the lineup last night and although he was 0-3, he did force 2 walks and I think he has some of the best value at the SS position tonight at this price. Andrus comes into this game with a .309 average with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s in 15 games this season and is coming off a breakout season last year in which he posted a .297 average with an impressive 20 HR’s. Andrus will be up against the RHP Jason Hammel who we’ve already mentioned has reverse splits and really struggles against RHB’s. Hammel is allowing opponents to post a .299 average against him at Kauffman Stadium and a .303 average during night games. Andrus posted a .298 average with a .798 OPS vs. RHP last season with 13 of his 20 HR’s coming against righties.
OF – Brandon Nimmo (NYM - $4,800) – I knew the day would come in which Nimmo salary would be priced as a “top-tier” option and unfortunately, that day is here. We’ve been all over Nimmo this year, especially against RHP, as the budding superstar currently is posting a .287 average with 12 HR’s, 22 RBI’s and 7 SB’s. Nimmo has a .367 average with 4 HR’s and 7 RBI’s over the past week and is 9 for his last 15 with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s. Nimmo is up against German Marquez who had posted a 7.71 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .333 against him at home this season. Nimmo has been crushing RHP all the season to the tune of a .309 average, .667 slugging percentage, and a 1.100 OPS and I don’t see Nimmo slowing down tonight.
OF – Michael Conforto (NYM - $4,500) – I’m going with another LHB of the Mets in Michael Conforto as this matchup against Marquez in Denver is too good to pass up. Conforto is hitting just .225 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 21 RBI’s on the season and is hitting .304 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s over the past week. Conforto, similar to Nimmo, has a big game last night going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. Conforto has been much better on the road this season as he posted a .284 average, .526 slugging percentage, and a .943 OPS. The RHP Marquez has allowed LHB’s to post a .280 average, .478 slugging percentage, and a .819 OPS against him on the season and as Conforto seems to like hitting at Coors Field (posted a .385 average their last season), I’m ok paying up a little bit for him tonight.
OF – Lewis Brinson (MIA - $3,000) – I should have stuck with Lewis Brinson last night as the top-prospect continued his solid June going 2 for 3 with double, RBI, run, and a BB. Brinson is hitting just .183 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 28 RBI’s and is hitting .318 over the past week. Brinson struggled early in the season but has cut down on his strikeouts and is hitting .300 so far in the month of June. Brinson will be up against Dereck Rodriguez of the Giants tonight who is allowing RHB’s to hit .308 against him and as Brinson has HR-upside, I like him as a bargain play again tonight.
Have a great Tuesday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
