Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) - MLB FanDuel Lineup – 6/19/2018
Update (6:35pm) - Hi everyone!
Made some changes to the lineup as Jose Fernandez isn't getting the start!
2B - Replaced Jose Fernandez with Jose Pirela (SD)
OF - Replaced Mac Williamson with Kevin Kiermaier (TB)
Good Luck Tonight!
It’s Tuesday June 19th, 2018 and let’s take a look at the lineup I have going for tonight’s “Main” slate (7:05 EST) for the MLB FanDuel contests.
As always, remember to check the weather and the starting lineups when they are released as you don’t want to find out before it’s too late that you have someone in your lineups that isn’t going to be playing tonight!
Here is my current lineup for today:
P – Mike Clevinger (CLE - $9,300) – I’m going with Mike Clevinger of the Indians as my main pitcher tonight as the Cleveland Indians right-hander, similar to Trevor Bauer, has dominated the White Sox this season and I don’t him a different result in tonight’s match-up. Clevinger has a 5-2 record on the season with a 3.15 ERA and 1.18 WHIP is coming off a 7.0 inning performance against the White Sox in which he gave us just 1 ER while striking out 11. Clevinger also a strong outing against the White Sox in early May and is holding the White Sox to a .188 average on the season. Clevinger has a solid 9.03 K/9 ratio and could be in for a nice strikeout night against as the White Sox rank 28th in MLB in team strikeout rate.
1B – Ian Desmond (COL - $3,800) – Ian Desmond hasn’t been able to hit for a decent average this season as he comes into this matchup with just a .207 average, however, Desmond has posted some of the best power numbers among NL first-baseman this season as he currently has 14 HR’s and 40 RBI’s on the year. Desmond has been playing much better as of late as he has a .333 average with 3 HR’s over the past week including hits in 6 of his last 7 games. Desmond and the Rockies have a nice match-up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets who comes into this game with a 7.39 ERA and 1.70 WHIP and has given up a bunch of HR’s this season. Desmond has hit LHP hard this season, posting a .286 average, .597 slugging percentage, and a .946 OPS vs. lefties on the year and as he also has some speed with 7 SB’s on the year, I like Desmond tonight at Coors Field.
2B – Jose Fernandez (LAA - $2,000) – Jose Fernandez will be my “punt” play tonight as the Angels have been starting him regular since Zack Cozart went down with an injury. Fernandez hasn’t done much since being called up as he is hitting just .276 with 3 RBI’s in 9 games however, Fernandez was showing some power down at triple-AAA this season as he posted 12 doubles and 10 HR’s in 53 games in the minor this year. Fernandez will be up against Matt Koch of the Diamondbacks tonight who has been very inconsistent this season and although he has pitched better vs. LHB’s, Koch has had trouble keeping the ball in the park as he 1.91 HR/9 ratio this season. Fernandez has a .296 average vs. RHP on the season and a .333 average at home and if he starts, I’ll take a chance on him tonight.
3B – Nolan Arenado (COL - $5,000) – Nolan Arenado is my “Long Ball Lock” tonight as he is one of the best options on the slate as he will be going up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the Mets. Arenado is hitting .306 on the season with 13 HR’s and 42 RBI’s and has been great at Coors Field this season, posting a .351 average with 7 HR’s. Vargas has really struggled against RHB’s on the season, allowing them to post a .321 average and .894 OPS against him. Arenado is one of the best hitters in MLB vs. LHP as he currently has a .395 average, .741 slugging percentage, and a 1.236 OPS against them this season and as he is 1 for 3 lifetime against Vargas with a double, I’m willing to pay up for him tonight.
SS – Freddy Galvis (SD - $2,400) – The San Diego Padres have a nice matchup tonight against the RHP Paul Blackburn of the Oakland Athletics and I think Galvis has some nice value tonight as he has been swinging a hot bat as of late. Galvis is hitting just .246 on the season with 4 HR’s and 28 RBI’s however, he comes into this game 8 for his last 13 and is hitting .400 over the past week. Blackburn is coming off a start against the Astros in which he gave up 8 hits and 8 ER’s in just 1.1 IP and has been hit hard by both RHB’s and LHB’s on the season. Galvis has hits in 5 of his last 6 games and as the switch-hitter has been better against RHP over his past three seasons, I like his value tonight at just $2,400.
OF – Mac Williamson (SFG - $2,700) – Mac Williamson has taken over in the OF for Hunter Pence this season with the Giants and although the slugging outfielder is hitting just .238 with 4 HR’s and 10 RBI’s, Williamson has some of the best power on the Giants and is in a solid matchup against the RHP Dan Straily of the Miami Marlins tonight. Williams has hits in 3 of his last 5 games against goes against Straily who had a 4.23 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and has given up 3 HR’s over his last two games. Williams has been much better at home this season posting a .269 average, .538 slugging percentage, and a .883 OPS. The wind will be blowing out in San Francisco tonight and Williamson is 2 for 6 with a HR against Straily in his career, I like his upside tonight.
OF – Brandon Nimmo (NYM - $4,000) – I knew the day would come in which Nimmo salary would be priced as a “top-tier” option and unfortunately, that day is here. We’ve been all over Nimmo this year, especially against RHP, as the budding superstar currently is posting a .287 average with 12 HR’s, 22 RBI’s and 7 SB’s. Nimmo has a .367 average with 4 HR’s and 7 RBI’s over the past week and is 9 for his last 15 with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s. Nimmo is up against German Marquez who had posted a 7.71 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .333 against him at home this season. Nimmo has been crushing RHP all the season to the tune of a .309 average, .667 slugging percentage, and a 1.100 OPS and I don’t see Nimmo slowing down tonight.
OF – Michael Conforto (NYM - $3,500) – I’m going with another LHB of the Mets in Michael Conforto as this matchup against Marquez in Denver is too good to pass up. Conforto is hitting just .225 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 21 RBI’s on the season and is hitting .304 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s over the past week. Conforto, similar to Nimmo, has a big game last night going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. Conforto has been much better on the road this season as he posted a .284 average, .526 slugging percentage, and a .943 OPS. The RHP Marquez has allowed LHB’s to post a .280 average, .478 slugging percentage, and a .819 OPS against him on the season and as Conforto seems to like hitting at Coors Field (posted a .385 average their last season), I’m ok paying up a little bit for him tonight.
OF – Lewis Brinson (MIA - $2,300) – I should have stuck with Lewis Brinson last night as the top-prospect continued his solid June going 2 for 3 with double, RBI, run, and a BB. Brinson is hitting just .183 on the season but does have 9 HR’s and 28 RBI’s and is hitting .318 over the past week. Brinson struggled early in the season but has cut down on his strikeouts and is hitting .300 so far in the month of June. Brinson will be up against Dereck Rodriguez of the Giants tonight who is allowing RHB’s to hit .308 against him and as Brinson has HR-upside, I like him as a bargain play again tonight.
Have a great Tuesday everyone and Good Luck tonight!
