DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineups, Picks & Advice – 6/28/18 – Early Slate (1:10 pm)
Update (12:38 PM) - Hi Everyone! Kyle Seager isn't starting today so we're going to replace him with Justin Turner (LAD) as he is generally always solid vs. LHP!
Hi Everyone! We bounced back with 50/50 cashes in both our lineups yesterday and even hit the GPP in the afternoon slate with a solid 123.6 points performance thanks to strong outings by Danny Duffy, Alex Bergman, and Evan Gattis! Let’s ride that momentum into today’s contests!
At the pitching position this afternoon we will be going with Jon Gray (P) of the Colorado Rockies and Mike Leake (P) of the Seattle Mariners. Gray comes into this game with a 5.52 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, however, he has a ton of DFS upside with his 11.5 K/9 ratio. Gray posted a 64-point performance (7.0 IP, 1 ER, 12 K’s) last week against Miami and his advanced pitching numbers indicate that he has actually pitched better than what the ERA is telling us. Gray has some risk as the Giants have seen plenty of him and hit him hard early this season, however, Gray has too much upside at this price to pass up. Leake comes into his game with a 4.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP and has been pitching well as of late as he has allowed 2 or less ER’s in 6 of his last 7 starts. Leake was able to contain the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his last outing as Baltimore has struggled against RHP on the season, I think he is great value at this price.
On the offensive end, I’m going to stacking the Seattle as they have one of the best matchups on the slate as they will be up against the RHP Jimmy Yacabonis who will be making his first MLB start this afternoon. Yacabonis had respectable numbers at triple-A this season (3.14 ERA in 13 starts), however, this is a guy that doesn’t have to stuff to put away hitters and could be in for a long day against the Seattle bats. The Mariners I’ll be going with today include Ryon Healy (C/1B), Kyle Seager (3B), Mitch Haniger (OF), and Nelson Cruz (OF). Healy is hitting better against RHB’s on the season (.254 average/.762 OPS) and has 11 of his 15 HR’s vs RHP’s on the season. Seager is 5 for 14 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s in this current series against the Orioles and is hitting .290 over the past week. Haniger is hitting .345 over the past week and has a .500 slugging percentage and .850 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Cruz should be back in the lineup today and you have to love him against the Orioles as over the past three seasons he has posted a .361 average, .705 slugging percentage, and a 1.171 OPS against his former club.
I’m going to throw a couple of Colorado Rockies bats in my lineup in Charlie Blackmon (OF) and Carlos Gonzalez (OF) as the wind is blowing out in San Francisco today and they have a decent matchup against the RHP Chris Stratton who comes into this game with a 4.14 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Charlie Blackmon is having a solid season, hitting .278 with 14 HR’s and 35 RBI’s and is 4 for 7 with a HR against Stratton in his career. Gonzalez has been swinging a decent bat as of late, hitting .313 over the past week and .307 in the month of June, and has a solid .847 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
It’s been a theme that I’ve been playing Kike Hernandez (SS) of the Dodgers when he is up against LHP and that will be no different today as Hernandez will be up against the LHP Jose Quintana of the Cubs who had been nothing more than average this season and is coming off a rough start against the Reds. Hernandez has great power against LHP and has been on a tear as of late, hitting .304 with 3 HR’s and 5 RBI’s over the past week.
At second base, I’m going with the talented Yoan Moncada (2B) of the Chicago White Sox as he will have a nice matchup against the RHP Jake Odorizzi who lasted just 1.2 innings in his last start against Texas, giving up 6 ER’s on 6 hits. Moncada hasn’t played well as of late, however, he has been solid as a LHB as he has a .465 slugging percentage with all 10 of his HR’s from that side. Moncada has some speed to cause some damage on the bases if he can get on and as he has always has the potential for a huge game, I don’t mind him at this price today.
Rounding out my lineup will be James McCann (C) of the Detroit Tigers who should be back in the lineup against the LHP Sean Manaea of the A’s after having the day off yesterday. McCann is hitting .236 with 4 HR’s and 22 RBI’s however, I like him at this cheap price as he has a .823 OPS vs. LHP on the season. Manaea has a 1.25 HR/9 ratio on the season and although he can be a tough matchup, McCann is 1 for 3 with a BB against the left-hander in his career.
Please check back late as I’ll make any adjustments necessary due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
