DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineups, Picks & Advice – 6/28/18 – Late Slate (7:05 PM)
Update (5:08 PM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make some adjustments as Yuli Gurriel will not be starting tonight! I've made a few changes:
C/1B - Replaced Yuli Gurriel with Carlos Santana (PHI) - As I mentioned, I like the Phillies tonight and Santana has been given Washington trouble all season as he is hitting .304 with 3 HR's against the Nationals this season.
SS - Replaced Marwin Gonzalez with David Fletcher (LAA) - Fletcher was oustanding in Triple-A this season and pretty much sees a Triple-A pitcher tonight in the LHP Brian Johnson of the Red Sox.
OF - Replaced Jackie Bradley Jr. with Josh Reddick (HOU) - Reddick has been swinging a hot bat and you have to love him tonight batting clean-up for the Astros!
We look to ride our current momentum that has seen us cash in all of our FanDuel 50/50’s this week and if it hasn’t started already, check out who we’re going on this afternoon’s slate!
For our pitcher tonight, I went back and forth between McCullers and Nola but ended up settling on Lance McCullers (P) as he has been lights out as of late. On the season, the right-hander has posted an 8-3 record with a 3.82 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. McCullers has strikeout upside as he 9.45 K/9 ratio on the season and has recorded 9 K’s in each of his last two games. McCullers is holding opponents to just a .221 average on the season and has fared well against the Rays in his limited experience against them as he is holding the current Rays roster to just a .083 average in 24 totals AB’s while picking up 10 K’s.
On the offensive end, we’re going to be going with a Houston stack tonight as they’ll be seeing the Rays variety of bullpen pitchers, starting with the right-hander, Ryne Stanek. Houston recently saw the bullpen lineup a little less than two weeks ago in their 5-4 victory over the Rays on June 18th, so I do like the Houston offense tonight as they shouldn’t be surprised by anything Tampa Bay will through at them. I’m going to be stacking Yuli Gurriel (1B), Jose Altuve (2B), Marwin Gonzalez (SS), and Evan Gattis (Utility). Gurriel is starting to hit for power as he has two HR’s over the past week and has been great on the road this season posting a .323 average. Altuve is once again one of the best hitters in MLB as he is hitting .345 with 7 HR’s and 41 RBI’s on the season and has also been great away from home, posting a .394 average on the season. Marwin Gonzalez has really struggled as of late, however, he did hit a HR yesterday afternoon against the Blue Jays and has had a decent month of June, hitting .297 for the month. Gattis has 8 HR’s in the month of June and like many of this teammates, has been a monster on the road this season, posting a .317 average with 10 of his 15 HR’s.
Along with the Astros, I’m going to be stacking some of the Philadelphia Phillies against Tanner Roark of the Washington Nationals tonight. Roark didn’t fare well against the Phillies in his recent start last Friday, Roark lasted just 4.1 innings while giving up 7 hits and 6 ER’s. I’m taking some of the affordable bats of the Phillies in Nick Williams (OF), and Maikel Franco (3B) while paying up for Rhys Hoskins (OF). Williams is only hitting .228 on the season but does have some nice HR-upside as he has 9 HR’s on the season. Williams has fared well against the Nationals this season, posting a .313 average. Franco has been in back in the starting lineup over the past week and is certainly taking advantage of it as he is hitting .471 with a HR and 3 doubles over the past week. Franco has also hit Washington hard this year as he has a .556 average (10 for 18) against the Nationals. Hoskins has some of the best power in the game and has a double and HR against Roark in 8 career AB’s against the right-hander.
Rounding out the lineup tonight will be a value pick in Jackie Bradley Jr (OF) of the Boston Red Sox who had been looking much more comfortable at the plate as of late. Bradley only has 5 HR’s on the season but has plenty of power to hit them out of Fenway. Bradley Jr. has a .421 average over the past week and has been great against the Angels this season, posting a .444 average with 2 HR’s against Los Angeles.
Please check back later at I’ll make any necessary changes due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather!
