DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineups, Picks & Advice – 7/1/18
Update (11:52 AM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make a few changes to the lineup and decided to go a little bit in a different direction after seeing how the wind at Wrigley is blowing out today. I've updated the image below with my new lineup! Good Luck!
We didn’t have as good of a day with our DraftKings lineups as we did with our FanDuel yesterday, but we still did hit our 50/50’s in the afternoon slates while just missing out in the later contests. Let’s get July off to hot start today!
On the mound today, I’m going to be going with Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta (P) and the Mets Steven Matz (P). Peralta has been lights out since being called up to the majors. In his first four starts, Peralta has posted a 3-0 record with an outstanding 1.59 ERA and 0.71 WHIP. Peralta has an incredible 13.9 K/9 ratio which we love to see in DFS and is holding opponents to just a .093 average. Peralta has posted three 30+ point performances so far and although the Reds can be tough matchup for RHP, Peralta has just too much value not to go with tonight. Matz is more of a value pick today but is having a nice season for the Mets as he has posted a 3.69 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Matz has allowed three or less ER’s in 6 of his last 7 starts and is holding opponents to just a .236 average on the season. Miami ranks just 26th in team batting average vs. LHP on the season and is holding the current Marlins roster to just a .206 average.
On the offensive side of the ball, I’m going be stacking the Los Angeles Angels against the RHP Kevin Gausman of the Orioles. Gausman has been pitching well as of late, however, he can be extremely inconsistent and comes into this game with a 4.20 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. Gausman is allowing opponents to post a .277 average against him this season and hasn’t fared well agianst the Angels as the current Angels lineup is posting a .360 average, .680 slugging percentage, and a 1.094 OPS against him. I’m going to be stacking Ian Kinsler (2B), Luis Valbuena (3B), and Mike Trout (OF). Kinsler is hitting just .218 on the season but does have 11 HR’s and is 8 for 15 (.533 average/1.429 OPS) with a HR vs. Gausman in his career. Valbuena is almost a most play today with his career numbers against Gausman as powerful LHB is 5 for 9 agianst Gausman with 4 HR’s and 6 RBI’s (.556 average/1.889 slugging %, and a 2.444 OPS). Trout has a .317 average with 24 and 49 RBI’s on the season and has been outstanding in the month of June posting a .352 average with 6 HR’s.
I’m going to roster Justin Smoak (C/1B) and Randal Grichuk (OF) of the Toronto Blue Jays as they have a solid matchup with Jordan Zimmermann who enters this game with a 4.35 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Zimmerman has pitched well as of late however, this is a guy that can give up runs in bunches and allowing the current Blue Jays lineup to hit .315 against him in his career. Smoak has struggled a bit this season but been great as of late as he is hitting .333 over the past week with 2 HR’s. Smoak is 2 for 6 lifetime with a double and HR against Zimmerman in his career. Grichuk is also hitting .333 over the past week with 2 HR’s and should see regular playing time going forward after the Blue Jays traded Steve Pierce to the Red Sox. Grichuk has posted a 1.018 OPS during “day” games and has a .531 slugging percentage against RHP’s.
We are going to be staying in Toronto as we’re going to going with a few Detroit Tigers in their matchup against the LHP J.A. Happ. Happ has pitched well this season but hasn’t looked that great as of late as over his last two starts he has given up 7 ER’s and 3 HR’s. I’m going to “punt” play James McCann (C) as he does have HR-power and is 3 for 10 lifetime agianst Happ with a HR and 5 RBI’s. I’m also going with the Tigers best bat in Nicholas Castellanos (OF). Castellanos has posted a .309 average with 12 HR’s and 49 RBI’s and has posted a .407 average with 3 HR’s over the past week. Castellanos has posted a .425 average and a 1.105 OPS vs. LHP on the season and is 9 for 16 (.563 average) against J.A. Happ in his career.
We have a good amount of salary left to round out our lineup and we’ll be going with Baltimore’s Manny Machado (SS). Machado has a great matchup agianst Deck McGuire who gave up 3 HR’s recently agianst the Red Sox in 4 innings of relief. Machado has posted a .308 average with 20 HR’s and 57 RBI’s and has been great at home this season, posting a .359 average, .662 slugging percentage, and a 1.108 OPS.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary adjustments to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
