DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/3/18
Hi everyone! We got right back on track yesterday with a solid 157-point performance that allowed us to easily cashed in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s. We started off strong with Judge and Schebler HR’s and Lindor’s huge came help overshadow the late scratch of Lonnie Chisenhall. Let’s keep it going today!
At the pitching position, I’m going right back to for value as I’m going with Cincinnati’s Anthony DeSclafani (P) in his solid matchup against the Chicago White Sox. If I was going to pay up, I probably would go with Zach Eflin in his matchup against the Orioles, however, as there are a lot of great bats out there today, I’m fine going with DeSclafani in hopes that he can get us 35-40 points. DeSclafani has pitched better as of late as he has allowed just 2 ER’s in three of his last five starts. DeSclafani has a respectable 7.6 K/9 ratio and faces a White Sox team that can strikeout a bunch as they rank 29th in MLB in team strikeouts per game. DeSclafani has never faced anyone on the White Sox which is generally an advantage to the pitcher and as long as he can limit the home-run ball which can be trouble for him, I think he’ll hit value tonight.
On the offensive end, I’m going to be starting out with the Colorado Rockies and their solid matchup against Chris Stratton of the San Francisco Giants. Stratton comes into this game with a 4.45 ERA and just got rocked by Colorado at home in his last start, going just 4.0 innings while giving up 8 hits and 5 ER’s. For the Rockies, I’m going to be going with Ian Desmond (C/1B) and DJ LeMahieu (2B). Desmond is hitting just .215 on the season, however has put up some impressive power numbers as he has 17 HR’s and 48 RBI’s on the season. Desmond has posted a .300 average vs. the Giants this season and is 3 for 5 lifetime against Stratton with a triple. LeMahieu is hitting just .276 on the season with 8 HR’s and 30 RBI’s but does have hits in 4 of his last 5 games, including a monster performance against the Giants last week, going 3 for 4 with a HR and 5 RBI’s. LeMahieu has a .333 average against the Giants this season and is 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and 2 BB’s against Stratton in his career.
I’m going to be staying at Coors field for my utility player today, as I like Brandon Belt (Utility) and his matchup against Antonio Senzatela of the Rockies. Senzatela has a 6.23 ERA this season in 17.1 IP and is currently allowing opponents to post a .311 average and .830 OPS against him on the season. Belt gotten off to a hot start in July (.429 average) and has been solid this season posting a .295 average with 13 HR’s. Belt has a .596 slugging percentage and 1.005 OPS vs. RHP on the season and 3 for 9 with two extra base hits vs. Senzatela in his career.
I’m going to be filling up the rest of my infield today with the Houston Astros who have a nice matchup against the RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Bibens-Dirkx has pitched well as of late, however, this is still a below-average pitcher who is allowing his opponents to post a .273 average against him on the season. We’re going to be “punting” Marwin Gonzalez (SS) and spending up for Alex Bergman (3B). Gonzalez is in the midst of an awful slump that has seen his average drop to just .230 on the season. We like Gonzalez tonight as he is super cheap and has HR power as an LHB as all six of his HR’s have come from that side this season. Bergman, unlike Gonzalez, has been on a tear as of late, hitting .458 over the past week with 4 HR’s and 8 RBI’s. Bergman currently has a 7-game hitting streak and has shown some great power numbers this season, posting 16 HR’s and 53 RBI’s.
In the outfield tonight, we’ll be going with Jose Bautista (OF), Rhys Hoskins (OF), and Joc Pederson (OF). Bautista has collected hits in 7 of his last 9 games while collecting 3 HR’s in that time period. Bautista will be back in Toronto, going against the HR-prone Marco Estrada, and as I’m pretty sure he is going to bring a little “extra” to his matchup, I like him his price tonight. Hoskins and the Phillies have one of the better matchups against the RHP Alex Cobb who has a 6.75 ERA and 1.67 WHIP on the season while allowing opponents to post a .329 average against him. Hoskins has some of the best power in the game and has posted a solid .517 slugging percentage vs. RHP’s on the year. Pederson had a huge month of June, hitting 10 HR’s for the month, and has a nice matchup against the RHP Ian Nova of the Pirates. Pederson has posted a .333 average with 4 HR’s against Pittsburgh this season and is 3 for 5 lifetime against Nova with two doubles in his career.
