DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/4/18
Happy 4th of July everyone! Our FanDuel lineup didn’t have our best performance last night as it was a rough pitching night overall and we just had the wrong Astros/Rockies players in our lineup! We have a 7-game slate tonight that starts at 7:05 PM and we are going to look to bounce back tonight!
I’m going to be going with value tonight at the pitching position as I’m not solid on the top options in Trevor Bauer and Gerrit Cole. Bauer just isn’t worth the price tonight and hasn’t performance as good as we’ve seen this year in his two starts against Kansas City. Cole has average just 34.75 points in his last four starts and no way am I’m paying up him tonight in Texas. For our team tonight, I’m going to go roll with Marcus Stroman (P) of the Blue Jays who has looked solid in his two starts since returning from the DL. Stroman has a 6.02 ERA on the season but since returning from the DL has gone 12 innings, giving up just 1 ER while striking out 9. The Mets offense has really struggled this season and currently rank 17th in team strikeout rate and 24th in batting average vs. RHP. Stroman has a 3.38 ERA at home over his past three seasons and I think he can continue his recent stretch of solid pitching in his matchup against the Mets tonight.
On the offensive side of the ball, I’m not really stacking any teams as the only teams I have more than one player from will be the Astros and Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have one of the best matchups on the slate as they go up agianst he RHP Corey Oswalt of the Mets who comes into this game with a 9.82 ERA while allowing LHB’s to post a .714 slugging percentage and a 1.159 OPS. For the Blue Jays, we’re going to be going with some solid value in Curtis Granderson (OF) and Yangervis Solarte (Utility). Granderson has a nice game last night going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and has shown that he still has power as he has an .868 OPS with 9 HR”s vs. RHP on the season. Solarte is only hitting .250 on the season but has shown his power as he has 16 HR’s and 48 RBI’s on the season. Solarte has a .512 slugging percentage and .812 OPS at home this season and has 9 HR’s as an LHB.
Similar to the Blue Jays, we are going with values play with he Astros in Yuli Gurriel (C/1B) and Jake Marisnick (OF). Houston has a decent matchup agianst the LHP Mike Minor of the Rangers who although pitched well as of late, still is sporting a 4.64 ERA on the season. Minor has made three starts agianst the Astros this season and has given up 10 ER’s in 15.2 IP. Gurriel has posted a .293 average with 4 HR’s and has been great on the road this season, posting a .311 average. Gurriel is 4 for 7 lifetime with a HR agianst Minor in his career. Marisnick is hitting just .188 on the season, but does have 7 HR’s on the season and showed how he can make a good DFS “punt” play last week as in back to back games, he went 4 for 5 with a double, 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s.
We have a bunch of salary left and we are spending up in the rest of our infield as we’re rostering Yoan Moncada (2B), Nolan Arenado (3B), and Francisco Lindor (SS). Moncada has been a bit disappointing this season as he is hitting just .229 on the season but does have solid power and speed and can always go off for big games. Moncada has a solid matchup agianst Cincinnati’s Sal Romano who is allowing LHB’s to post a .302 average and .869 OPS agianst them. Moncada has been much better as an LHB this season and is solid play at this price. Arenado is at home and is against an LHP which means he is almost a must play. Arenado is posting a .431 average, .882 slugging percentage, and a 1.402 OPS vs. LHB on the season and has been on a HR tear as of late, hitting 4 HR’s over the past week. Lindor is hitting .417 with 4 HR’s over the past week and is always a safe bet when he is going against the Royals as on the season he has posted a .483 average and 1.593 OPS with 4 HR’s in 29 AB’s.
Rounding out the lineup today with be Cincinnati’s Scott Schebler (OF) who had a decent matchup against the White Sox’s Dylan Covey who had a 4.82 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Covey is coming off a real rough start as he lasted just 2.1 innings against the Rangers will giving up 8 ER’s and 3 HR’s. Schebler has posted a .281 average with 11 HR’s on the season and has been great at home this season, posting a .308 average with a .843 OPS.
Please check back late as I’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
