DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/6/18
Update (6:12 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some changes to the Lineup! I've updated the image below. Good Luck.
It wasn’t as rough of a day yesterday with our DraftKings lineup as it was with our FanDuel lineup, but in the end, we still didn’t do enough to cash in our 50/50’s. We made the right calls with Marco Gonzales (25.3 points), Ketel Marte (23 points), Wil Myers (17 points), and Juan Soto (16 points) however, the rest of our lineup didn’t do much as our value pitcher in Max Fried got us negative points and Goldschmidt put up a goose egg. Let’s put yesterday in the rear-view mirror and get back in the winning column for tonight’s “main slate” that starts at 7:05 PM.
For our pitchers tonight, we are going to spend up for Boston’s Chris Sale (P) and take our chances with the Yankees Sonny Gray (P). Sale has been lights out as of late, as over his last three games he has gone 21 innings, giving up just 2 ER’s while striking out a combined 35 hitters. Sale has a 2.41 ERA on the season, 0.89 WHIP, and is holding opponents to just a .179 average. Sale has a ridiculous 12.7 K/9 ratio this season and as the summer has arrived, so has Sale’s fastball which we’ve seen hit the 100 MPH mark over his last few starts. Gray hasn’t not lived up to expectations since been traded to the Yankees and has struggled this year as he has posted a 5.44 ERA and 1.51 WHIP on the season. I’m taking a chance with Gray tonight as he looked outstanding in his last start against the Blue Jays (8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 8 K) and over a large simple, is holding the currently Blue Jays roster to just a .212 average and .282 slugging percentage. Gray topped 30-points in his last outing against Toronto and as I think he can get us at least 20 tonight, I like him for this price.
As we are going with Sale on the mound tonight, we’ll need to find some value with our offensive tonight and I think a great place to start will be with the Texas Rangers. The wind will be blowing out hard to right-field tonight in Detroit and have to like the Rangers match-up against the RHP Jordan Zimmerman who although has pitched well as of late, is still a very hittable pitcher as over the last three years he has a 4.76 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit .286 against him. For the Rangers, we’re going to roster Joey Gallo (OF) and Nomar Mazara (OF). Gallo is one of the biggest “boom or bust” DFS players as although he is hitting just .192 on the season, he does have 21 HR’s and 48 RBI’s on the year. Gallo has some of the best power in the game and if he can just get one in the air, it won’t take much to get it out of Comerica Park tonight. Mazara is in a bit of a slump, but has been great for the Rangers this season, hitting .271 with 15 HR’s and 56 RBI’s. Mazara has a .283 average and .812 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is hitting .292 on the road this season.
We’re going to be getting Washington’s Juan Soto (OF) to finish up our OF today as we like his matchup against Miami’s Dan Straily who enters this game with a 4.70 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. Straily has given up at least 3 ER’s in each of his last five starts and has also has given up 7 HR’s in the same span. Soto is one of the more impressive rookies we’ve seen in a while as the 19-year old is hitting .312 with 8 HR’s and 24 RBI’s since being called up in late May. Soto has great plate discipline and has posted a .905 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
We found some great value with the Baltimore Orioles today in their decent matchup against the Lance Lynn of the Minnesota Twins who enters this game with a 5.49 ERA and 1.68 WHIP on the year. Lynn has given up 11 ER’s over his last 6.2 IP and is allowing opponents to hit .271 against him on the year. For the Orioles we are going roster Jonathan Schoop (2B) and Tim Beckham (3B). Schoop has started to pick it up as he is hitting .333 over the past week and had a monster night last night, going 2 for 4 with 2 solo HR’s. Schoop has 8 of his 10 HR’s vs. RHP on the season and has been much better on the road this season. Beckham has hits in 7 of his last 8 games and although he hasn’t shown much power this season, he does have enough pop to get us a HR and has some extra value as he has been hitting at the top of the Orioles lineup.
We have some decent value picks for the rest of our infield as we will be going with Detroit’s John Hicks (C), Minnesota’s Logan Morrison (1B), and Philadelphia’s Scott Kingery (SS). Hicks has a nice matchup against the Rangers Bartolo Colon who gives up a bunch of HR’s and has a 6.16 ERA during “night” game this season. Hicks has posted a .284 average on the season with 8 HR’s and 29 RBI’s and could have nice night against Colon who is allowing RHB’s to post a .537 slugging percentage and .819 OPS. Morrison has a tougher matchup against the Orioles Dylan Bundy, however, he did have a HR last night has had success against Bundy as in his career, he is 5 for 15 (.333 average, .800 slugging percentage, 1.175 OPS) with 2 HR’s. Kingery will be up against Trevor Williams who has struggled as of late as he has given up at least 3 ER’s in 7 of his last 8 starts and posted a 5.32 ERA in the month of June. Kingery is a talented young player for the Phillies who has hit much better on the season vs. RHP and as he has been hitting 6th in the order, I like his chances to do some damage tonight.
Please check back later as I’ll update our lineup with any necessary changes due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
