DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/7/18
Unlike our FanDuel lineup which had a big night, we couldn’t get it done with our DraftKings lineup yesterday as outside of Chris Sale (35.9 points) and Jacoby Jones (14 points), we didn’t get much offensive production. We started off hot earlier this week with our 50/50’s, however, it’s been a struggle with our 2nd pitcher the last two nights as they both have gotten us negative points. Let’s try to get back on track today as we take a look at our 7:05 PM lineup.
I’m not going to be paying for Max Scherzer tonight as although he is always a threat to go off for a 70-point night, he didn’t fare that well against Miami earlier this season as he lasted just 6.0 innings, giving up 4 ER’s while striking out just 4 Marlins. As I wanted to save a little in salary, I’ve decided to go with the Diamondbacks Robbie Ray (P) and take a big risk with the Royals Brad Keller (P). Ray he has one of the better matchups of the night, going up against the strikeout prone San Diego Padres. Ray recently had a tough outing against the Cardinals, however, he seems to bring his best stuff against the Padres as he is holding the currently Padres roster to just a .227 average while striking them out 34.1% of the time. Ray has an outstanding 13.5 K/9 ratio on the season which is what we look for in our DFS pitchers and could be in for a big night as the Padres rank 27th in team strikeout rate. Keller has been a solid fill-in for the Royals starting rotation this season and currently has posted a 2.09 ERA. He does a great job generating groundballs and over his last two starts, has gone a combined 15 innings while giving up just 8 hits and 1 ER. Keller is risky against the talented Red Sox offense, however, if he can just get us 15-20 points, he will have huge value with the money we’re able to save for our offense.
For our hitters tonight, we’re going to start off with a reasonably priced stack of the Kansas City Royals as we’re going to roster Whit Merrifield (2B) and Salvador Perez (Utility). The Royals have a decent match-up against David Price who comes into this game with a 4.28 ERA and is coming off a rough outing against the Yankees in which he lasted just 3.1 innings while giving up 8 ER’s on 9 hits. Merrifield has been on a tear as of late, hitting .360 over the last week and has some of the best speed in the game. Merrifield has been great against LHP on the season as he has posted a .382 average and 1.019 OPS against left-handers on the season. Perez is hitting just .215 on the season but does have 11 HR’s and has done great against Price in his career as he has posted a .357 average with 3 HR’s in 14 career AB’s.
We’re going to be going with a few Washington Nationals tonight in Trea Turner (SS), Juan Soto (OF) and Anthony Rendon (3B) in their solid matchup against the LHB Wei-Yin Chen of the Marlins. Chen has pitched better as of late however, has really struggled on the road this season posting a 9.85 ERA while allowing opponents to post a .361 average against him. Chen has really struggled against RHB’s this year as he is allowing them to post a .305 average and .895 OPS. Turner had a monster game the other night and has been great as of late as over the past week, he is hitting .406. Turner has been outstanding against the Marlins this season, posting a .375 average and 1.042 OPS. Soto has been outstanding since being called up this season and you shouldn’t be afraid of putting him up against a LHP as on the season he has posted a .366 average, .707 slugging percentage, and a 1.165 OPS vs. left-handers in 41 AB’s this year. Rendon has posted a .306 average and .542 slugging percentage against LHP on the season and also has posted a solid .853 OPS at home this season.
We needed to get at least two Dodgers in our lineup as they have a great matchup against the Angels Deck McGuire who has a 7.56 ERA and has given up 5 HR’s over his last 7.1 IP. For the Dodgers, we’re going to go with Clay Bellinger (1B) and Matt Kemp (OF). Bellinger is hitting just .240 on the season but has still been able to show that great power we saw in his rookie campaign last season as he has 17 HR’s and 43 RBI’s on the year. Bellinger has a .500 slugging percentage and a .826 OPS vs. RHP on the eyar. Kemp has been unbelievable this season for the Dodgers as the veteran outfielder is hitting .321 on the season while hitting 15 HR’s. Kemp is hitting .500 over the past week with 2 HR’s and 10 RBI’s and you have to like his chances for a HR tonight.
Rounding out our team today will be Arizona’s David Peralta (OF). Peralta will be up against Tyson Ross of the Padres who although has solid upside, has struggled against LHB’s as he is allowing them to post a .291 average and .855 OPS against him. Peralta is hitting .282 with 15 HR’s on the season and has been solid as of late, hitting .333 over the past week.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
Good Luck Tonight.
