DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/10/18
Update (6:14 PM) - Hi Everyone! Our lineup is confirmed! Good Luck Tonight!
Hi Everyone! Our Red Sox stack last night didn’t completely disappoint us as we get a solid performance from Eduardo Rodriguez (38 points) and HR’s from J.D. Martinez (31.9 points) and Steve Pearce (25.2 points), however, as we took a chance by not playing solid value plays in Gregory Polanco and Corey Dickerson from Pittsburgh, who both had big nights, we ended up just missing out on our 50/50’s. Let’s get our first win of the week tonight as we look at tonight’s “main slate” that starts at 7:05 PM.
If you been following my column this season, you know that I’m not afraid to go for value on the mound and tonight I’ll be taking my chances with Philadelphia’s Enyel De Los Santos (P) who will be called up tonight to make a spot start against the New York Mets. De Los Santos has been one of the best pitchers in Triple-A this season as he has posted a 1.89 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 16 starts this season. He has a respectable 8.2 K/9 ratio and has a 42.1% ground-ball rate which helps him keep the ball in the park. The match-up is great for De Los Santos as the Mets rank just 28th in MLB in batting average vs. RHP (.232) and they rank 18th in team strikeout rate. The Mets have scored just 5 runs in their last 4 games and I just think the value here is too much to pass up on tonight even though I do like Verlander against Oakland tonight.
With De Los Santos being just $5,500, we were able to load up on our offense tonight and I’m going right back to Fenway Park as the Red Sox have a great match-up against the RHP Yovani Gallardo of the Texas Rangers. Gallardo comes into this game with an 8.17 ERA and 1.70 WHIP and as given up at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 4 starts. Gallardo has a 1.8 HR/9 ratio on the season and is allowing opponents to hit .365 against him when he is on the road this season. For the Red Sox, we’re going to be going with Mitch Moreland (C/1B), J.D. Martinez (OF) and Andrew Benintendi (OF). Moreland is hitting just .250 over the past week, however, has had a nice season, hitting .283 with 11 HR’s and 43 RBI’s. Moreland had been a thorn in the side of his former club as since joining the Red Sox in 2017, he has posted a .464 (13/28) average against the Rangers. J.D. “just dingers” Martinez continues he incredible season last night for the Red Sox as he had his 5th straight 2-hit game and blasted his 28th HR of the season. Martinez is hitting .435 over the past week and has a .333 career average against Gallardo. Benintendi is hitting an incredible .550 (11-20) over the past week and has posted a .319 average and .951 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
We have a pretty solid middle infield today as we’re going with the White Sox’s Yoan Moncada (2B) and Cleveland’s Francisco Lindor (SS). Moncada doesn’t have the easiest match-up against the Cardinals Miles Mikolas, however, Moncada has started to heat up as he is hitting .333 over the past week and comes into this game with a 7-game hitting streak. Mikolas is allowing LHB’s to post a .283 average on the season and between the fact that Moncada’s power has come as an LHB and that he has speed to get SB’s, I think he has nice value tonight at just $3,300. Lindor has 23 HR’s on the season and has had a great start to his July, hitting .375 so far for the month. Lindor will be up against Sal Romano of the Reds who comes into this game with a 5.40 ERA and is allowing LHB’s to post a .303 average and .898 OPS against him on the season. Lindor is hitting .326 at Progressive Field this season and has 18 of his 23 HR’s as an LHB.
We have two third-baseman on the roster tonight as we have the Cardinals Matt Carpenter (3B) and the Angels Luis Valbuena (Utility). We love Carpenters match-up against Dylan Covey of the White Sox who has given up 22 ER’s and 6 HR’s over his last four starts. Carpenter is hitting .300 with 2 HR’s over the past week and has really picked it up after a slow start to this season as the veteran third-baseman currently is hitting .258 on the season with 17 HR’s and 41 RBI’s. Valbuena is a solid “punt” play tonight as he comes in at the bargain price of just $2,000 in a solid match-up against Seattle Mike Leake. Leake has been solid this season but he certainly is hittable and didn’t look that great against the Angels in his last start (4.0 IP, 9 H, 3 ER). Valbuena has HR-upside as he had 9 HR’s on the season and has always hit Leake well as in his career, Valbuena has a .429 average and 1.020 OPS against the right-hander in 28 AB’s.
Rounding out the lineup tonight with be Minnesota’s Eddie Rosario (OF) who had a great matchup against the Royals Ian Kennedy at home tonight. Kennedy has a 5.11 ERA on the season and has had trouble keeping the ball in the park as of late as over his last three starts, he has allowed 5 HR’s. Rosario is hitting .300 on the season with 18 HR’s and 54 RBI’s and has posted a .412 average with 3 doubles and a HR against Kennedy in 17 career AB’s.
Please check back later as I’ll update the lineup with any necessary changes due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
