Update (4:48 PM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make a few adjustments but I just updated the image below with our confirmed lineup tonight! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! We got back on track last night with our DraftKings lineup as our 143.8-point performance allowed us to easily cash in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s. We got decent performances from both our pitchers but the real hero of the night was our “punt” play in Kolten Wong who had a monster 29-point night with 4 hits which included a HR. Everyone from the squad had at least 5-points last night and along with Wong, we had some solid performances from Benintendi (23 points), Lindor (16 points), Moreland (11 points), and Naquin (10 points). Let’s keep this momentum going for tonight’s 7:05 PM slate!
On the mound tonight, we are going to pay-up for Boston’s Chris Sale (P) and will be take a bit of a risk with Baltimore’s Dylan Bundy (P). Sale has been lights out as of late, as over his last four games he has gone 27.0 innings, giving up just 3 ER’s while striking out an incredible 47 batters. Sale has a 2.36 ERA on the season to go along with an impressive 0.89 WHIP. Sale currently has a 13.0 K/9 ratio, which would be a career high for him, and faces a Texas team that ranks 27th in team strikeout rate (9.35 K/per game). Sale is holding the current Rangers roster to just a .123 average (19-155) and has stuck them out 41.9% of the time. Sale is expensive, however, as this will be his last start before the all-star break, I think he brings a little extra tonight and could get us a 40-point performance. Bundy is obviously a big risk against he powerful Yankees lineup, however, there is a ton of upside here as Bundy can be an outstanding pitcher if his stuff is on. Bundy has a 4.08 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season and can certainly generate strikeouts as he has a 10.0 K/9 ratio. Bundy is holding RHB’s to just a .188 average on the season and although he hasn’t fared that well against the Yankees in the past, I think the K-upside is worth the risk tonight as in 9 of his 17 starts, he has held opponents to 2 ER’s or less.
As we’re spending up on sale, it will be hard to get the bigger bats in our lineup today, however, I think we have some value with the lower Red Sox bats in their solid match-up against Bartolo Colon of the Rangers tonight. Colon has a 4.65 ERA on the season and has been giving HR’s up in bunches as he has a 1.9 HR/9 ratio. Colon struggled a bit in his only other start against the Red Sox season, as he gave up 4 solo HR’s in a 5-1 loss. For the Red Sox, we’re going to be going with Eduardo Nunez (2B), Rafael Devers (3B), and Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF). Nunez should be back in the lineup after getting the night off yesterday and has hits in 12 of his last 14 games. Nunez hasn’t had much success against Colon in the past but is hitting better against RHP on the season (.271 average/.688 OPS) while Colon is allowing RHB’s to post a .810 OPS against him. Devers has some solid pop in his bat as he has 14 HR’s on the season and is 2 for 3 lifetime against Colon with 2 HR’s. Jackie Bradley Jr is hitting the ball much better as of late, which included a 2 for 4 performance last night with 2 doubles and has been much better at Fenway Park this season, posting a .259 average and .773 OPS.
It was hard to find room to get some Colorado Rockies players in the lineup but I had we had to as they just have too good of a match-up at home against Arizona’s Shelby Miller. Miller has been awful since returning to the rotation as over his three starts he has a 9.00 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, and is allowing opponents to .328 against him. For the Rockies, I think we have some nice value tonight with Chris Iannetta (Utility), Carlos Gonzalez (OF), and Ian Desmond (OF). Iannetta is having an average season, but for his price and HR-upside, he is a great play against Miller who is allowing RHB’s to post a .419 average, .710 slugging percentage, and 1.147 OPS against him on the season. Iannetta has a .835 OPS vs. RHP on the year and has hit much better during night games this season (.270 average/.827 OPS). Gonzalez is hitting .357 over the past week and has a solid .316 average and .931 OPS at Coors Field this season. Gonzalez has hit Miller well over his career, as he has a .389 average and 1.198 OPS against the right-hander in 18 career AB’s. Desmond is hitting just .217 on the season but has some great power numbers this year, posting 17 HR’s and 49 RBI’s. Desmond doesn’t have great numbers against Miller in his career, but I just don’t think Miller is even close to being a decent MLB pitcher right now and I’m ok rolling with Desmond so I can have three Colorado bats in my lineup tonight.
The Cardinals are still very affordable and to help round out our roster we’re going to be taking Jose Martinez (C/1B) and Yairo Munoz (SS) in their matchup against the White Sox’s Carlos Rodon. Rodon has been solid this season but has had a tendency of giving up the long ball as he currently has a 1.8 HR/9 ratio on the year. Jose Martinez is strangely affordable for a guy that has posted a .302 average on the year with 13 HR’s and 55 RBI’s while also hitting .368 over the past week. Martinez has picked up back to back 3-hit games and is coming off the month of June in which he had a 1.012 OPS. We’ll have to monitor to ensure Munoz gets the start as Paul DeJong is back in the mix, however has been seeing time in the OF and I’ll think he’ll see the start tonight as he is hitting .313 over the past week with 2 HR’s. Munoz has fared well in his rookie campaign with the Cardinals this season and has nice value at this price considering he has posted a .285 average with 5 HR’s on the year.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
